please suggest some NGOs.....
Do you think i need to take up some short term certifications?
I am from Jaipur.I am doing my B.Tech-IT 3rd year(65% above in each semester).I am planning to do an MBA after my engineering.I wanna just ask a simple question:
Is it true that all colleges of 5 metros & Hyd-Pun-Ahm are better, than any given college of Jaipur. Is it like that, 90% colleges of big metros are better than those of Tier II cities.
If yes, why is it so???
Also if good (actually above average) colleges are having an average package of 2.8 per annum; then what's the whole use of doing MBA after engineering, if we get 3.2 just after a B.tech ?????
This question is very important as there are thousands of students from different parts of this country. Each one of them might have wondered at this at some point of his/her life.
Hey bro ,
First of all MBA , if not done from a decent b-school is not worth much , as has been stated by other puys here that there is no precondtion for an MBA college to be located in metros and cosmo cities to be better, but they do have an advantage , interms of placements (exception being IVY league colleges)
The packages you stated one gets after engineering is typically given by good companies which select above average students, so when the time comes for MBA , they also get selected into better colleges, so there is a correlation
Would suggest do some research , to find out about colleges and to find out if you are really interested in MBA
All d best
indiana.jones SaysPlease suggest some NGOs who would also be paying?I hope this stint will count as work experience..

Any work which is paid and full time is counted as work ex . You can find NGOs which pay by simply searching on google. There are few in Delhi/NCR region. You get work ex certificate as well from these.
If you are not able to find by googling, then PM me , i shall share few names with you.
Short term courses depend on how you will cope with job , preparation and course studies. I personally avoid taking short term courses.

Hi guys,
This is Ashwin. I finished my BE in EEE in the yr 2009 , worked as an on job trainee in Sasken for 6 months. I would like to pursue an MBA now. The other option I've got now is to hunt for a job.
It would be great if someone could suggest me this:
Pursue an MBA now or after 1-2 yrs of work experience ?

If, as you say, you are going to hunt for a job then you can do that and prepare for the MBA exams. Would also help keep you more occupied. Work experience is always good, whether it's because B schools love it or because you get a real taste of the corporate world.
Just weigh your options. If you are free right now, preparing would be a good thing to do. Once you do get a job, you can then decide whether you like the job and would like to continue with it or go ahead with an MBA.

Thanks for your opinion π .
But , I've heard this from many - you need to spend dedicated time for any MBA entrance - so working and having a go would be risky , right ? (Pl correct if am wrong)
Though my work exp is just 6 months now , I definitely have a rough idea of how the life inside an industry is and I know what they expect :)

Buddy,
There are many people these days who crack CAT and other mba entrances despite hectic work schedule at office. It is all about how you manage your time and take out time for studies .
Also, work ex is an added advantage and people are cracking PIs as well can be concluded from the fact that average work ex in any good b-school for a batch is atleast more than 12-15 months.
So, working and having a go is not a risk , right ? It is just that you need to show some management skills during preparation as well π
All the Best.

If you are feel that job may hamper cat preparations look for jobs which will not have a hectic schedule. But its nothing wrong in having a work ex. I would recommend you to have more then 1 yr min of work ex. Most recommended would be 2+ yrs. Because this will help you a lot in the GD/PI stag. It would add additional weight-age to your profile.

This is one of the most obscured and naive question. No one can tell you exactly what to prepare. The syllabus for cat, Xat and other management exams is just 10th std level. All you need is clarity of though and better practice to improve your speed and accuracy. Its you who have to find what your weakness are and have to improve on it. First try to do some research on the general pattern. Taking a Pre-Perp Mock would be of help. You can find areas where you are weak. and then try to improve on them.

There is no single answer to your question really π You would need to do some research and I think you can start from the following thread:

See there is no fix rule that ,'you should not leave the job and prepare for Cat along with the job' or 'you should leave the job and prepare for Cat'.It varies from person to person.Yes your work ex will definitely help you in earning extra 1-2 marks and will help you in PI but i know aspirants who left their jobs and prepared for Cat and now they are in top B-Schools including IIMs.On the other hand there are some aspirants who left their jobs for preparation but they were not able to make into good b-schools and now they are in a fix, some have joined second tier schools and some are searching for jobs.
So i will advice you to do some analysis and find where you stand, wether you will be able to prepare well for Cat or OMET if you decide to drop this year.If the answer is yes then go ahead ,there is no need to search for job and be prepared to justify this professional gap during your PI.But if you are in dilemma then search for job.

Guys,
A dilemma here. Please correct me to enlighten my path. . .!
I have finished my B.Tech in biotechnology this April. I am planning to pursue MBA. I have
heard that experience prior to MBA is valued high and is in great
demand. My interested area is marketing and now I got a job as
marketing executive with a salary of Rs.12000. I have also written
entrance exam for MBA (TANCET - TamilNadu) and I am pretty sure that I can get
good B-Schools PSGIM in Coimbatore 0r TSM in madurai.
My doubt here is whether I go to pursue MBA now
(or)
to go for job for some 2 years and then to purse MBA after that?

The only contention is whether you are satisfied with the B schools you would be getting an admission into. They may be the best in TN but then, there are much better Schools who have a repute and standing throughout the country. So, if you would like to apply for the Top B Schools of the country, you should prepare for that but if you believe that the TANCET is good enough, better join now.
