i will be getting a job next week. i had started preparing for cat and was studying very sincerely. bt somewhere in my mind, i had a feeling that it wasnt enuf for iims. i knew it, bt was pushing myself further. i really want to do my mba frm a very gud clg. mostly iim!! what should i do? should i keep preparing and give my best shot next year? then what shud be my strategy??

either NTPC that wud obviously add a lot of value to my profile.. and give another shot to the CAT...
or stay here in VGSOM only..

What sort of life one gets after doing an MBA ??? I mean will I find time for my family or will I remain busy with my work and hectic schedules throughout the day ? Because, I believe that even a high-profile lucrative job is not worthy if one doesn't have time for his family. What is the actual scenario ???? Please reply.....it's very important for me to know that.
I am currently working in L&T; and am a mech engineer. I just want to know two things..
1) if i dont get a experience certificate will my joining certificate and the last month pay slip suffice
2) can i get a govt job after doing an mba... if yes what are they????

@Karthik: U r going to give ur exams, please go ahead and give them. Take up the job if u dont want to miss out on the offer, anyway ur college (if u get a good percentile and the school u want) will start only by July 2012.
An MBA is more about adding onto your skills and network rather than just a placement cell. If you feel there is no need for u now to enhance ur skills and widen ur network, dont do an MBA. When u feel ur have worked enough and ur growth is stunned then u can opt for a Masters/MBA, that would be a more appropriate time.
The problem is i am very low on confidence for this CAT. I wanna know whether any one with 3 year experience in IT will do MBA in top tier institutions in India. Or is it advisable to opt for Executive MBA after 5 years of work exp. If the former is ok, i will opt for giving a wild shot at cat this year and prepare rigorously for next year exam.
At this juncture i could not decide whether my career should be in IT or else where. So my options would be,
1. Switch over to another IT company with a higher package, work for 2 more years, get a executive MBA, progress in IT.
OR
2. Give a shot @ 2011 cat in spite of low confidence, switch over to some other company, without concentrating on tech career, prepare for 2012 cat, crack it. Get a good b-school, move up the career ladder.
Please help guyz ! I dont have anyone to give professional advice. So please be kind to help !! Thanks !!

I will suggest to prepare along with your job and give CAT the best shot. If you make it this year, it would be great else give another shot next year. I wont suggest to drop the idea of preparing and taking the exam.

- Post MBA life also depends on the kind of profile you get into after placements
- For I-Bankers life is very hectic, people wo get into sales profile or even in some roles of marketing need to travel a lot ( atleast during initial few years ).Though for most of the rest profiles, life is slightly less hectic. Though again it would vary from profile to profile and from company to company. So, no generalized answer can be given as of now.

1. It would suffice at the time of joining in most of the colleges. However, you need to submit your relieving letter/work ex certificate at the letter stage. There are few colleges which will require you to submit the relieving letter at the time of joining itself.
2. Yes, you can get. Again, what company and what profile depends on the college you do your MBA from.
I m sorry,but I have a query. I m new to pagalguy .I have been recently terminated from my job(reason:i played a small prank on my friend).They told me it was a security breach and they fired me,so shoud i show my experience in cat or not.

I have just started my work life, in an IT company in July. I have heard that work experience in the IT sector (as a s/w engineer) does not really count as "work experience" when you apply for B-Schools in India or abroad. Is this true?

Well..the answer depends on the kind of work you do. But nothing can beat you if your scores are good and if you have everything to get past the hurdles........so don't think about all that....just start working ...Good luck !!

During the Pre-Placement Talk by GTSC in our college , they told that if one performs very well , he might be shifted to IT or IDC . But m not very sure about it . And as far as the work is concerned , my friends tell me that its very interesting .

Hey...just got placed in Infosys & Accenture ( currently in the 4th year..BTech ECE). The placement season is in full swing and we have Capital IQ that will be visiting our campus on the 28th September.
The dilemma is :
1. The job profile being offered is : Software Testing ( Technology Quality Analyst); 4.2lpa; Gurgaon.
Now is this testing profile better than the one we'll get in infy or accenture ?
2. I will be giving MBA exams this year; but in any case, if I dnt make it thru the top colleges, a job will be my only option in hand; and I'll try for MBA in the subsequent years.
Now, will a testing profile in "S&P; backed Capital IQ" be of any help in the long run..I mean does a testing profile or a s/w developer profile have any effect on our future as MBAs ?
3. Capital IQ will place us in Gurgaon (m a Delhi ite)..and Infy or Accenture is gonna throw is smwhere down south with smthng about 3.5lpa (
Should I prefer CIQ over Accenture or Infosys ?
P.S If placed in CIQ, I'll have to join CIQ & only CIQ--- our TPO's clause !
