Personal/Career/CAT-job Dilemma Queries : A Repository

Hey...just got placed in Infosys & Accenture ( currently in the 4th year..BTech ECE). The placement season is in full swing and we have Capital IQ that will be visiting our campus on the 28th September.

The dilemma is :
1. The job profile being offered is : Software Testing ( Technology Quality Analyst); 4.2lpa; Gurgaon.
Now is this testing profile better than the one we'll get in infy or accenture ?

2. I will be giving MBA exams this year; but in any case, if I dnt make it thru the top colleges, a job will be my only option in hand; and I'll try for MBA in the subsequent years.
Now, will a testing profile in "S&P; backed Capital IQ" be of any help in the long run..I mean does a testing profile or a s/w developer profile have any effect on our future as MBAs ?

3. Capital IQ will place us in Gurgaon (m a Delhi ite)..and Infy or Accenture is gonna throw is smwhere down south with smthng about 3.5lpa (
Should I prefer CIQ over Accenture or Infosys ?

P.S If placed in CIQ, I'll have to join CIQ & only CIQ--- our TPO's clause !
M new to PG...sorry if u find my posts in the wrong threads :D

Join Accenture. It will help you in the interviews as it has a better brand name. It will also help you in future placements.

I have Applied for the Post of MANAGEMENT TRAINEE (CS/IT) at Engineers India Limited.

I don't know Anything about it's Recruitment Exam.

Can anyone help me with that?

Thanks In Advance 😃

well..the GET package this year is 3.75 lpa..u ll effectively have 20k-25k in hand depending on whether or nt u opt for HRA..in the 2nd year there is an option to join as a management trainee along with the get profile..in that case it increases to 38k in hand per month..

Okay... I know All the That. It's written on the website also 😃

But I am Asking about the RECRUITMENT EXAM (Obj Type).

I don't know anything about the course and it's difficulty.
Do I need to study the basics of IT subjects or I have to go deep in them.
Paper will be difficult or easy?

or anything useful info related to the exam 😃

Dear Friends....

i am an engineer , quite good with numbers , have no problem travelling , working in a top IT company as a trainee since i am 2010 passout. i am seriously considering CAT-2012.
i have some questions.....

1.do i need to be an "extrovert" to have a successful career post MBA??
2. I have no extra curriculars to show.....will it be a major hindrance for top MBA colleges to accept me?

Other than that , i think i am quite intelligent and very well read ......

Seniors please help...Thanks in advance......

Please reply seniors.....eagerly waiting...thanks

As read in the book " the best of all i wanted to speak about CAT", all are engineers... can't a graduate student get into IIM? is it so difficult that u need higher qualification only and also a work-experience? i'm quite worried and depressed after reading that.

an engineer is a graduate student...

Thank you in advance

Hi,

I am a B.Tech Mechanical. Passout in 2011 itself....
Although i got through some reputed companies during my campus placements...
I decided to join a very small start up(FMCG) in my home town, so that i get more time to prepare for CAT 2011 which was my main aim since college.

Will working in this small start up ( a pvt. ltd. firm) , be a disadvantage for me during my interview (if i get calls)??Should i say good bye to my dreams of getting into iims because of this??

Seniors, are there any friends in your college, who had done the same (i.e. working in a start up and converted eventually)..please

It could be an advantage too, your experience of working in a fmcg will help you get marketing and operations role in fmcg firms especially when the typical work experience of a MBA student is that of a software engineer.

But, you will have to ensure that you learn a lot about the fmcg industry during your stint at this firm as you will be asked about this in the interviews.

Hi

Im a B.E graduate working in a IT MNC for 2 Years. Working at Singapore for the past 7 months(Onsite). I am planning to apply for NUS,NTU in the coming year for R2 admissions. Work is very hectic and i am nt able to concentrate on preperations. So i am planning to quit from work for a few months prepare for GMAT,apply to universities. Is this a right approach. Will a break in career for around 3 months impact my application to a great extent.

Need some guidance
I have 3 years of experience in oil and gas sector (upstream). Most of it is white collar with little field experience. I want to do MBA from some recognized institute. It is not hard and fast that I wanna do MBA in oil and gas sector only but I don't want to make my experience worthless.
I did BE mechanical with first class before joining oil and gas field. My experience includes international work experience and I am confident of scoring high in CAT/GMAT. Please guide me which B schools and most importantly what specializations shall I opt for? Explaining why MBA after 3 years in oil and gas appears to be a headache to me...:(

Buddy

Suggest you to go for MBA in operations/supply chain. You can leverage your b.tech degree as well as work experience to full in the specialization. Coming hunting for Ops/SCM roles, do look out for people with profile like yours 😃

As far as Indian B-Schools are concerned, you can look forward to the likes of IIM Bangalore, NITIE, S.P.Jain and IIT Mumbai.

Explaining why MBA in operations/SCM is going to be very easy with the engineering background and work ex that you have

Hope this helps !

Hey guys,
i am a 2011 B.Tech. mechanical. passout

I am working in my dad'd firm.I wanna know, if working in dad's industry can be mentioned as work exp(for CAT and other MBA entrances) ??

Will it be a disadvantage at a later stage(interview) ?

hi puys!!

I am having 1.5 years experience in TCS and i am taking CAT this year for the 3rd time. I had joined TIME coaching test series last year and my CAT is on 5th nov.
This time somehow I did not wish to join any coaching and have been preparing for past 2-3 months on an irregular basis.
I am sure of my basics in quant and wish to take TESTFUNDA and TCYONLINE as my mock test series in the month coming ahead...

Will that preparation be sufficient? or u suggest me to go back to TIME and register for a test series?

Hey puys !!!
I'll be giving CAT this year. My problem is that I don't have much extra curriculars at college level (except a few participations in quizzes) plus I don't have a great graduation %age (66.1). So I wanted to know if this detriments my chances to make it to IIM's or any other good B-school??

PS: I am a fresher

Hello Puys,

I am going to give my GMAT this november.I have 3+ exp in IT, not much coding only IT support or bug fixing.

Can you please suggest me which field shall I chose for MBA.

I have very little knowledge about the fields of MBA though Finance and MArketing are the fields which excite me may be coz I have heard and Read most about them.

Can you please suggest me so that I can narrow down the B - schools I should send my application to.

Regards,
Abhinav
