Your profile is fine. You can go for either of the courses. Since you are planning to make a career switch, 2 year course would be good but you can go for 1 year course as well. There are many colleges that conduct 1 year courses like many of the Exec programs in IIMs, ISB, SP Jain, Great Lakes, etc.

Also, do you think it would be worthwhile to take a 2 year break (loose exp and income) and do an MBA? What kind of profiles can I look for after completing my MBA Finance after 2 years?
If you have interest in Marketing then you may go for any Public Relation firms like Perfect Relations, Text 100, 20:20 MSL, Adfactors, Genesis, etc. If you have good Communication Skills - written as well as spoken (English), then you may try your luck in Conference Production as well. You may also try for jobs in Advertising field as well.
If you have interest in HR, then you may try for similar roles as per your interest in Recruitment, Training, etc.
Depending on your age, you can also apply to various PSUs conducting exams for posts in their HR or Marketing departments as well.

I have completed my BTECH(CS) from UPTU Lucknow in 2010 & currently for working as a software engineer in IT firm in noida since last Nov-2010. I keep updating my knowledge with current trends in market & other technical innovations around the world. I wanted to make technical innovation something like iphones/electronic products/facebook or latest technologies I am perplexed whether to go for M.tech & then PHD to gain more technical knowledge ..OR go for MBA(IT) in reputed B-school in our country as in recent times all great b-schools horn their leaders with entrepreneural skills & support funding. hi guys, i m 23 , soon to be 24, profile - m.com with a first class( 60 %) , b.com with a first class (67%) 12th - 75.17 % 10th - 79.46 % No extracurriculars, good communication skills, work ex - 12 months with a big 4 This is my 5th cat attempt. the previous 4 are as follows cat 07 - 74.xx cat 08 - 83.xx cat 09 - 71.xx cat 10 - 90.xx
i was at home only during m.com and was preparing for mba but nothing materialized. i completed my full time m.com and then started working. Now i have taken a break again for the cat. This is my last shot.
My problem is that i have never been serious about cat . This year i am very serious about it. My mock scores are in the range of 70to 80 with poor quants section. i have been getting aroun 94 to 95 percentile in va/logic.
I m sure i would improve in the next couple of tests as i am working my ass off day in and day out.

You do stand a chance of getting into top league B-Schools. Focus on your preparation, overcome the issues you are facing in quant by proper analysis of mocks or sectional tests you take , score balanced sectional scores and you shall get calls from colleges if you are able to clear their cutoffs.
Do not let your efforts reduce or let your mind bogged down by the past academic record. Even today if a person scores high with balanced sectionals, he / she will make into one of the top league b schools for sure assuming a decent performance in GDPI as well which we can talk about at later stages.

There are many distance learning program available in the country some of them are from symboises,annamalia,IGNOU,NMIMS,manipal university and the list is never ending it depends on you where you would like to roll your dice i'll suggest you go with IGNOU because its the cheapest option available in the country as well as when you will get over of debt you can think of another MBA it will help you then. you can visit the site of the schools. Just got my engineering graduation results. I got a higher second class. I'm terribly upset and depressed. Almost everyone have got first class or above. I I am suddenly losing all hopes in life. I now regret having not studied. I suddenly feel like a failure. IIMs is my only dream but this has been a major setback. Pls help

If experience as faculty was full time paid job, then it would be accepted as valid work ex across B-Schools.
So, assuming faculty exp as full time paid one, your total exp till 30th sept will be 14 months.
If faculty exp was not full time paid job, then it would be around 5.5 months which won't be rounded off to higher number, so you need to mention 5 months only.
I just completed with my 3rd year B.tech in chemical engineering... After 2-3 years job exp. I want to join big management consulting firms like McKinsey, etc. Please guide me which company should i join now after my B.Tech (chemical) .. should i join companies like Evalueserve (which give post of Business Analyst) or should i join some core chemical companies like Fluor, Reliance, etc. etc.... Which would be best option if I eventually want to do MBA and be in management consulting.. ???

there is no limitation on the type of company that one works in. it can be a startup with minimal revenue or an MNC with billions of dollars of profit....however, u will need a pay slip or a letter from the company saying that u were employed from so-and-so date to so-and-so date in the company. otherwise, u wont get credit for ur workex (not just at the time of ur admission but also at the time of placements)
