If you are aiming at IIMs, you should go through the criteria released by IIMs for this year from respective website. If you need direct links here it is IIM selection criteria released MBAfodu.com
If you are aiming other then IIMs then only couple of colleges might not give you chance otherwise all the other colleges shortlists on the basis of CAT score only..
Hello..! I have taken admission in technia institute (GGSIP University) in first counselling in MBA course and waiting for second counselling to change my institute.
In my opinion, you can continue with your current college.
PS: Comparison of colleges is not allowed on PG. So, please refrain from the same. 😃

hi everyone, i m new to pg and have not yet got acquainted with it, so plz pardon me if i commit any mistake!! i just wanted to ask any senior who has successfully cracked cat that--- out f 60, approx. how many ques do you need to get correct to be rest assured that you get atleast 94%ile??? plz help me out anyone!!
Buddy
With online CAT coming into action and normalization of scores being done across slots, no one can guess that what number of attempts / correct questions would lead to what percentile.
It is suggested to give your best shot and solve as many questions correctly as possible.
I am a B.Tech IT passout of 2011.I have a job offer of an IT officer in a private bank. But they said they may give other banking works if the need arises. And, as i have learnt that they actually take all kind of work. I am not the programming buff so i dont want to join a software firm and regret later. I prepared for MBA in my final year but as i dint get my coveted colleges so now going for the job.Well, for future i have my eyes set on MBA in Finance after 2-3 years of experience. Now,the important Q for which all this RAMKAHANI... i have written?? Will my experience in Banking be relevant and serve any purpose in my future MBA endeavour. Will it be some negative points for me as being an IT guy I chose banking...(but actuyally that's keeping in mind my future aspirations..)
Need some urgent and genuine reply perhaps from som1 who has seen or been thru such a thing...

I am a B.SC graduate in computer science and i am working in JAVA technology from last 1.7 years. My situation was so pathetic in my current employer(don't wanted to name, but one of the biggies), that's why i resigned without having any offer in my hand. But yesterday i got an offer from accenture IDC, Bangalore(Associate Software Engineer) , but not getting good hike(20% more than current ctc), This is the first time they are recruiting BSCs from tier1 employers with 1 to 2 yrs of exp, so they have made the salary fixed to What they are offering to b.tech freshers. I am thinking of joining, because i will not be able to give further interviews, as CAT 2011 is looming ahead. But if i'll not score well in CAT i'll be continuing with accenture.Am i taking the right dicision ?My friend says, this will impact your performance, because in future other companies will think you are not good, that's why you didn't get hike. What should i do ?

Join the company. Your future company will think about your performance in interview and other things will matter if you clear the interview and perform well. So, stop thinking. BSc only graduates in India are considered outcasts and if you are getting an opportunity to break this jinx then grab it.
I am an engineering graduate and am currently pursuing MBA. i have 3 years of work ex in power sector.
i wish to move to USA , im lost. i got a good score in GMAT , got some decent admits but just cudnt get the finances to pay for an ivy league MBA. to be frank, financially im below the lower middle class in india.nothing else in my pocket, except some big dreams. i know how weird all this sounds but i have no one else to help me out in this regard except this forum.
so can anyone help me out here with some advice. im not too keen on pursuing a PhD in usa. as i dont want to go into the research and teaching part. i wish to stay and work in the industry itself. power or manufacturing will be good. any other course i can enroll for in USA post my MBA here ? something that will get me a H1B job later on?
im not desperate for the american dollar...but i have a complicated web of personal issues to deal with. getting that American dream will sort 99 percent of it.
have no one to guide me here , no big brother , no mentor. this is all i have.

Hi,
What you have mentioned is one way of fulfilling that Big American Dream (BAD). You can also try to find a job in USA from India as well, but that is going to be difficult.
Also, do you badly need to fulfil BAD only? Are you open to other countries as well? If yes, then you may try countries like Australia, New Zealand, etc. as well.
Hi people. I am pursuing my engineering from a reputed college in India. I currently am in the final year. My life is on tenterhooks due to the drop taken by me this year, just to be away from studies. My dear mother passed away this year and I haven't still recovered from the shock. I had a very bad third year in my college as well. The problem is my college has started two and a half months back and I still haven't paid the fees. They won't allow me to pay the fees now as I have already missed the mid-term exams. I get countless negative thoughts everyday, I am going to start medication for this chronic depression of mine. I feel gutted now. I don't know whether I get any reply to this dilemma of mine, but I really will be grateful if someone tells me if this will affect my chances of getting into a good MBA college in India. I am really not a bad student, I am preparing for CAT 11 and my mock scores are consistently above 90-92. I am considering getting back to college the next year, what can I do this year to not be idle? My college by the way has the NKT rule, I have to clear 3 papers of the first three years...Will there be any action taken against me? I know am asking a lot of questions, this is how helpless i am feeling at this very moment.. thanks

Hi,
Sorry to hear that buddy. But man be calm. I had a friend from one of the NITs who went into depression and couldn't complete his degree in time and took 5 years to complete the same. Later he worked in a call-centre and prepared simultaneously for CAT. He scored 99.9X percentile in two of his attempts. For the first attempt, he got call from all IIMs of that time. But didn't had the courage to attend GD/PI. In second attempt also he had calls from all the IIMs. He missed calls from A and B and on being forced by family and friends attended GD/PI at C and didn't attend any other GD/PI. He converted C.
The only thing that I want to tell you is please do not get into depression. It can ruin you. If you can manage that, then you can achieve anything. You yourself know that you are capable of doing wonders, so just go and Just Do It!!
Talk to your college administration and tell them about your situation. Hope that they will understand.
Is that really true? thanks for that buddy...this depression is killing me...I never expect myself to get into such a situation...for the past year I haven't been living my life...I can't go back to college now as I have not paid the fees and there is just too much backlog too, after me having missed the exams..I may have to wait for the second term and study for it..
Sorry to hear it buddy....if there is no way to avoid the drop i would suggest you to do any course or any part time job...to explain the "year gap"...it might help in your favor.....
:-) I'll prepare very hard for CAT this year..I know I have invited these circumstances on to myself, but only I can repel them...buddy, can you suggest me some courses that I can do part time?
puys please help me....i have asked this question in other threads but i did not get a positive reply.....can i give my family business as work ex in the cat registration form ???

Sorry to hear about your loss buddy. May your mother's soul rest in peace. But do you think that she would be happy to see you in this depressing state !!! No buddy .. absolutely not.
Life will gradually come on track and you just be resilient enough to face this tough time. If you get a call by virtue of your score (i can see you are scoring pretty well) , you can surely convince your position to the interview panel mate. No one will stop you from getting the college of your dreams.
Thanks palak, at least you are with me. Everybody is telling-you are adding only brand names with ur resume, tht's it.
Dude, if you have it in you, no one can stop you.
I have had 32 months of exp in IT in 3 different companies .... still getting good calls from good companies. Even I have great brands in my CV. So if you are good enough to convince people in interviews don't worry.
Also, Accenture is a great place to work in and with your BSc. degree you are getting something which not many BSc people get.... the chance to work for a big company at a very competitive CTC.
