Hi Puys
I am Arun .I have searched in the internet for a proper answer to my query. But did not get any first hand answer . Well I graduated in year 2000 with Commerce and got a job as an PO in a PSU Bank. Yes, I have over 10 years experience. Now after a decade of graduation suddenly I realize that these days good jobs / promotions / postings get passed over me due to my lack of an MBA degree which is very painful. So far I have appeared two times in CAT but very casually and my percentiles were over 85 in both times. This time I am damn serious about the exam. But before putting down a rigorous routine of preparations for CAT I want to know the reality of the age factor in MBA ( I am 32 years old ).I want to know from those guys who have already scored and got into IIMS / IITs or the top 20 MBA institutes. What are my chances that If I really score over 99 percentile in CAT and even get a GD/PI call that I may actually get to study in a TOP college and will not be rejected based on my age .Well theoritically IIMs/ IITs dont have an upper age limit, BUT what is the practical scenario based on the actual student profile of the PGP batches? .MY question is based on the student profile can you guys ( already in the top 20 institutes )tell me that actually how many of the students match nearly my age profile .PGP students please respond . Your feedback means a lot to me guys.
Thanks again
Arun

Hi Arun,

You have 10 years of experience. I have a query - do you want to go for a 2-year MBA programme or 1 year one. I would recommend to go for 1 year programmes of ISB, IIMs, XLRI, SP Jain, or Great Lakes. They will be good option for you and will readily absorb you if you do great in GMAT and interviews.

Hi Guys,

After completing my Electrical Engineering I have been working in an electrical core company (an MNC) for the last 3 yrs taking up projects pertaining to different profiles( Starting with Commissioning work at Site, to management of resources in site, handling customers and suggesting solutions pertaining to technical as well as commercial queries) My indepth technical knowledge helped me to handle customers more confidently and I was assigned the role of Spares Marketing for my product then eventually I was asked to take up the responsibiltiy of a marketing engineer. As it is clear that I had exposure to both technical and commercial negotiations I want to use my experience for a better career growth. I am interested in taking up an MBA course related to marketing.

I am writing CAT this year and expecting to clear it . Please suggest what colleges I should target to get an upperhand in the application process that are in line with my management aspirations well supported by my work experience.

Please suggest

With best regards
Paal

If you are also interested in technical aspects, then I think NITIE's programme should be good. If you are interested in other things like Marketing, etc. then any good college should be targeted.

Two questions:

1.Why you are looking for it??

2. And what you are exactly looking for?(MBA is a very broad term)
