addrija Says
thanks alot 4 da fast reply...1 last query though.... does that mean those 12 months count for nothing and there is no demarcation b/w me and a fresher??? or does dat hav any value at all???

It might not be counted as a part of work ex. But it ll surely make ur profile better and more competitive than a fresher . One of my frnd was a fresher and got thru FMS this year . He told me that they were very impressed by the work done during his 6 month internship at IISC and asked a lot of questions about it .......

So overall it ll increase ur chances . But in case u r planning to apply to big MBA colleges , be ready to answer some questions on ur internships :p:p

Cheers

I have done my B.Com from Mumbai University via correspondence so could anyone help me out as to which colleges i could apply for in and outside maharashtra..Please help me out. as i got to know many colleges do not accept I.D.E graduates. Thanks in advance Also I have not attempted CET, CAT or any entrance test yet...

I am a commerce student presently pursuing my masters. I am interested in financial analysis, portfolio management ,risk management and wealth management. There are various certifications like FRM,PRM CFA etc.. Would it be advisable to do it for a person who is not working. Or these certification should be done only after getting a job??.

Also if you can provide any further assistance would help. 😃

Onsite or MBA? India or abraod?
Hello Puys, long time! (still the same name goes, don't they?)

So let me sound stupid here. Like every graduating engineer, I aspired for the IIMs in CAT'07 and fell short of the cent by 2.. and because my "teenage dream" didn't let me go anywhere else, I started my IT career and now with 4 years exp, I am in a dilemma over which way to go.

I have a permanent position at Onshore. If I stick my posterior here for couple more years, I might get a managerial grab. But of the two things that haven't changed for me, one is the IIM-dream and the other, an earnest nonchalance towards IT-Services industry. So here I post my options, and would like cogent pagal feedback ;)

1) Stay on at Onsite, forget about life and keep minting greenbacks
2) Leave the sucker, go all out for CAT and try for any Top 10 B-school for a full-time diploma (would I be differentiated from freshmen by recruiters?)
3) Take GMAT maybe, and go for an Exec MBA for similar schools (saves operational cost and thereby, time)

Not sure which one will be the golden duck and which one, a mirage!
Also while you're a it, could you throw some light on how can I get myself prepared for the big pussy (;)) while staying abroad.. like an online course mat or prep course or mock CATs?

Thanks a lot for helping out guys,
Take care!
Still feli-I-ned!

CAT07: 98, CAT10: 97

hey..i am a final year Computer Engg (B.Tech ) student. I am appearing for the CRP (campus recruitment prg) of ABB (desgnt -> management trainee) hence i would like to know if anyone has appeared for it before and could help me out, as to what shall i prepare for the test (online) and otherwise also. Hey Puys,

A real weird situation out here. I had written CAT in 2009 and Got 94%ile . I want to use that to avail a discount in Testfunda test series. But the problem here is I don't seem to find my CAT score card as I hadn't taken a print and how muchever I google i'm not finding the past CAT results . Please help me as it could save me a few thousands!

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Hi,

Let me ask you few questions. Why do you want to do MBA? Just to prove to yourself that you can bell the CAT or better job profile? If you are looking for a better job profile, then what exactly are you looking for in that profile?

If you just want to go for MBA because you think IT sucks then that is not a good enough reason to do MBA. In my opinion, every job in this universe sucks big time. Every job looks good for few days and then it starts sucking. So, answer the above queries and then I may be able to help you.

Yes and No.Agreed that every job on this galaxy sucks but IT ranks pretty high up in my opinion. My intent is to change my line of work, and get a mileage that will be useful going forward when going up the ladder counts. I'd not mind if have to slog for a few more years to get a grip of, say Marketing or Pre-Sales, but at least (I believe) I'll have better sense of purpose.. carefully dint use the word job satisfaction. We all know it's a myth :P

Thanks for your response. looking forward to the next one 😃

wonderful and great information

If you are really interested in Pre-sales, then you may ask for an opportunity in current organisation. It is easier said then done. But if you persistently ask for the same, then you may get an opportunity. If you are technically sound, then you may try for Architecture stream and join Pre-sales that way.

Thirdly, you may go for MBA if you are sure that it is really what you want to do. From your post it seems that you are frustrated and not happy with current settings in your life. I am getting philosophical and spirituality is coming into picture. It is because you are not clear with your goals.

I think you need to go through this:-

Just read the post. I can relate to that guy and that's exactly why I don't want to go that way.

I have lived life here. and no doubt, it's easier and much more comfortable. The reasons to do an MBA, that too, from India, are A) they're cheaper, B) they make you tougher and C) that's the best way to switch a line. Also, I consider that (management) to be my forte, so I'd like to go about it hard once so I don't have no regrets later.

Organic growth in Sales for an IT guy is like asking for PM's chair when you're a modest college GS. Not that you won't ever get a chance, but only after you're hoary and have greying hairs.

Getting philosophical now, money is not why I am doing an MBA, it's got more to do with the work I want myself to be doing. The post-er prides himself in saving the amount B-school grads earn, but he'd know better where it hurts. Maybe I'll come back later doing better things, okay, but if we're really into philosophy, there's something we gotta give back! :)

I think I am determined to go for an MBA now. Maybe am taking a risk, but it's more fun to be steering a speedboat than to go on a cruise. Trust me. and Wish me luck :)

.. and thanks Palak. Riveting answers, lightning speed. U rock! \m/

Hi Devendra,

You can go for General Management or Cross-functional courses like those from NITIE or can go for specialisation in any field of your choice like Operations, Marketing, HR, etc.

Hi,

My background is:
Xth (CBSE): 90.8%
XII (CBSE) : 90%
B.Tech - DCE (Delhi College of Engineering) : 67%

Work Ex: Completed 2 Years as Risk Consultant in Deloitte

I plan to enroll for MBA sooner or later, wanted to know should I go for IIM's this year or wait, give GMAT and try for ISB, or any other option?

Please guide on what I should do I should be doing?

Hi
My problem
I am an integrated M.Sc Physics 2nd year student, in a pure-science oriented
research-based institute.
Don't wish to make a career in Physics. (I know its late)
Question
Can I do an M.Ba ? obviously I can
I mean will the so called 'good' b-schools first of all even accept my applications, seeing my
bloodily diverse background (already a masters, that too in Physics), given I clear CAT. They
may say I botched in science so I am going for a career shift.

So please assist me, is it really beneficial step??

Actually, I do not have any answer. Better ask your query on the following thread. I know it is related to PO but there may be people who have knowledge about scales and their post-training placements.
