If I'm not mistaken, you've really made up your mind to go for next year and just want to validate this from somebody out here..

If I'm correct, then I'll say when you've already made a decision stick to it.
You can get workex for past 1.5/2 years from your parent/friend/uncle having their own business/shop/showroom,etc.
And do join abbott now and make a good career and not get stranded if results don't come in your favor next year.

But it's surely going to be tough fight. You take the final call that whether you're willing to slog for next year or not.

PS- work really hard in job too and don't mess your career anymore

hi,
i need some suggestions.
My 1st confusion
I was not able to convert any good college this year. Not even GIM or KJSOM. Next year i am planning to apply for CAT,XAT and FMS again. By the time i join college next year i will have work ex for 3.5 yrs in IT. i need to know if after 3.5 yrs i should join mid level colleges or only try for the Ivy League college like MDI or IMT-G.
My 2nd Confusion:
I will be 26 by the time i join MBA next year. and when i leave i will be 28. So i am confused that after approx 3.5 yrs of work ex is 2 yr MBA correct option or i should think of 1 yr MBA programs. But there are no good 1 year courses except SPJAIN,IMT and GLIM. (i believe ISB currently is out of reach for me).
Thanks..

schedule your CAT on sunday. I don't think you need to take one week leave before CAT. personally I don't find it useful. Prepare hard before joining and just keep in touch with formulas, give mocks after joining.

If you feel you can't manage both (I personally feel you can) then postpone your joining citing medical/family reasons or join on allotted date and take 1-2 weeks of leave before exam citing some emergency,.

Also all other exams are on Sunday and once you're done for CAT, you just need to keep in touch. So you don't need to worry about those exams.

right now fill the form of all the colleges and focus on studies.
give all the interviews and then you can decide once you've results in hand.
no point in thinking right now. Live in present and only thing in your hand right now is to prepare.

I really don't have an idea about 1 yr MBA. Maybe some other person can help on this.

There is still a lot of time and u have work-ex backing you, i dont think you should have ISB totally out of question. It is well within reach if you work towards it and more so, with my experience of ISB intakes in the last 2-3 years

Go to ISB thread to see what kind of profiles they are open to, build up your profile by further strengthening your strengths and as always, important to aim and work towards only the best.

i have been offered Msc Economics +BE dual at BITS pilani goa campus. I am alose extremely interested in this new program started by IIM I since i have always been interested in a career in finance(hedge funds in particular). Should I opt for the novel system of engineering(and a economics in my case) and then MBA or go for this new program. My heart tells me to go for this program as i can focus on my career right from the begining and need not take any deviations. I am looking forward to advices from people in this website. Thank you in advance

Hi Puys

I have done my diploma in mech engg and joined an automobile gaint (60months of full time work exp) & did my btech in part time (jun 2011). now i am planning to give cat 11.

my doubt is whether IIMs will consider my work exp before graduation (with diploma) or should i apply as a fresher..?

Am hoping 2 mnths(sept nd oct) of strong preparation would be good enough tog et a solid percentile also i have idea about CAT as i gave it last..though didnt do well.. but still.. Presently due to M.com exams this august..i cant fully concentrate on cat.. but still starting to give Aimcats..and a bit of online studying..

International business and Finacial analysis are my interests....am looking forward to more specialised course for finance like MFC..

snip.....................................

I have completed my b'com(hons.) this year and i am a bank po aspirant currently will start working in august with icici prudential in sales(have to take it no other good options),can u give me info. regarding flip and ncfm certifications can they help me in getting equity analyst positions and boost my profile.

I m interested in Finance, but didnt manage to get admission in a good cllg, I dont want to wirte CAT again, What if I take admission in a mediocre college and manage to clear CFA level 1, will it help me in getting a good job off campus (without any exp in finance).

Dear Puys,

I've heard that nmims gives 80% weight-age to nmat scores in the selection process.. Does it remain the same every year? Will it be the same this year also(2012)? And is the general awareness test in nmims online? Wat preparations can be done for the same?

Dear Puys,

Would like to know what are the prospects of IT in banking sector....a friend of mine cleared the Po for ICICI last year and was under training till may and has been recently placed in the IT division of the Bank in Mumbai....She is a B.C.A only...so even I wanted to try for this programme but before that i wanted to know the various pros and cons of a gradute in the IT Industry.....can a B.C.A survive here for long and achieve success or Masters is inevitabel???

Please advice
