I have a small query..What is the situation there at top B-schools..I mean Do I have more probability to get jobs in IT company even if I do MBA in finance..??? And is 1 year experience @ IT sector considered good in placements??
If any senior puy throw some light on placement procedures there according to profile and average package based on experience..It will seriously be very helpful

Work experience :14 months in Cognizant in Insurance sector(working as a analyst for Insurance Client in US)
certified in General Insurance INS21 won awards like Best outgoing student in training in the cts academy, won Innovation award,empowered session etc..
Point I would like to add is that I wanted to get into IIM and come back and join IT company at senior mangement level..(especially in companies like google or Cognizant)...

from the link that i posted above, majority of junta in top b-schools is engineer...and obviously many have IT work ex...and given the %ages of batch opting for finance role..i think you can easily derive that people with IT experience do get fin roles...what kind of roles...will it be a hinderance..is too subjective...depends on your profile,knowledge and many factors...Again as I said before..it's too early to worry about these things..Aim to get into a good b-school right now...these things will come later...

bhai many IT companies offer IT consulting profiles and other profiles in all b-schools(including the top ones)...to be honest I don't know the details..even if I knew..I'm not sure if I'm allowed to reveal them...better search through placement reports of b-schools..if it's not there on placement report..I'm not allowed to reveal...(not to mention the fact again- I don't know in first place). 'I'll say read through all the placement reports...search on linkedin...if you can find people who are from IIM's and other top b-schools working in IT firms..look at their designations/job profiles..if possible message them and try to talk to them..that would be your best way forward.

just a small query guyz. I am currently working at KPMG as an audit analyst. planning to do MBA in finance and will appear for all major entrances dis yr. am i on the right track

Bhai I really don't know as it's a very subjective question. I'll say make CAT prep your first priority. If you get time, try to get some achievements/certis in your job and maybe something of social impact... Given your commitments, it's upon you to manage everything and prioritize. A gyaan that is uncalled for but still I'll give for my satisfaction :)- don't let your personal life get impacted by all this. It's a thin balance you need to maintain.
Other than this, I have nothing else to offer. Maybe other senior and knowledgeable members of forum can chip in to extend/counter my points.

Seriously many aspirants have been posing this Qs regularly. But I dont understand the rationale. It is very subjective and no one can tell you what would b beneficial. You should be convinced behind the reason of you appearing for CAT and going for MBA. It all matters is how and why it fits in ur life..if u could justify that then any no. of certification would be of no use.
and as per testing job it has no relation with what you would be doing in ur MBA or post MBA.
at the max if u have inclination..and passion towards particular field in MBA say finance or marketing.. read about it..and develop some idea what it is all about rather than taking a blind shot.
Friends , Gave CAT and other exams last year but couldn't convert any calls expect IMT -DCP and NMIMS Bangalore ... Other than CAT got good scores in almost all other exams ...Didn't want to compromise on the college i join so giving CAT this year too.. I had left my job some time back for CAT preparation and personally i wasn't happy with that job too.. Now after quite a few days of job hunting have got offers from two companies . One is very near my place(almost 15-20 min travel @ the max by road) , but it is not a big company small scale level and pay is O.K ( less than i used 2 get ) Another is a big one and a good pay too . But it is quite far off and i have to travel for nearly 1.5 hrs plus changing two trains to reach that place .. On one hand i have a comp which is near and another which is a very established brand .. Don't know which one to select .. Bot the jobs offer the same role . I feel if i join the second one i might not be able to give considerable time for CAT prep as almost 12+ hrs goes in for job .. Really confused .... Should i compromise on the Pay and Comp. front for CAT or otherwise ?? I seriously want 2 crack CAT or other Ent. this time Will in what company i work with be too much of importance during the B-School interview ??? If i join the small comp will it have any impact during the interviews ??

in 2010 i got promotion as linux system admin.
I want to change to private IT company where i can get better CTC. I am showing 5 years are linux sysem admin and 7 years as Total experiance in IT but I have sound knowledge on linux sysem admin
my question is after changing job in background verification will it be found tht i was doing paper work as executive

afaik every company asks previous records of joining letter.. relieving letter..and intermittent promotion documents .. so it depends what is shown on ur papers as issued by company... they would verify just that

hey frnds,, am in a dilemma ,, please give urs views,, I had just now finished my bachelors degree (BE mechanical). I am very much inclined towards IB and intending to do an MBA next year. I have an offer from an automobile firm. Having said that I am very much confused whether to accept the offer or not. Should I look at IB training programs in some indian investment firms if available? Since I have no academic finance background I would like to appear for CFA level I by next june. I would like to know would if it be a real value addition for my profile if I am solely looking at investment banking . Is it a mandate for me without any academic finance background? BB finance firms like GS moslty recruit thru PPO route. They do consider freshers for intern or look only for those having finance related prior work-ex? Thank you in advance.

hi, i need some suggestions. My 1st confusion I was not able to convert any good college this year.Not even GIM or KJSOM. Next year i am planning to apply for CAT,XAT and FMS again. By the time i join college next year i will have work ex for 3.5 yrs in IT. i need to know if after 3.5 yrs i should join mid level colleges or only try for the Ivy League college like MDI or IMT-G. My 2nd Confusion: I will be 26 by the time i join MBA next year. and when i leave i will be 28. So i am confused that after approx 3.5 yrs of work ex is 2 yr MBA correct option or i should think of 1 yr MBA programs. But there are no good 1 year courses except SPJAIN,IMT and GLIM. (i believe ISB currently is out of reach for me). Thanks..
