Hi guys...
I am working for one of the MNC in Mumbai. I have 3+ years of exp in SAP BASIS and my current CTC is around 5 Lac. I am planning for MBA.
My SNAP mock test scores are around 55 to 70 and MHCET is around 100 (I know its not enough to get into top colleges) my concern is, if i go for MBA from not amongst the top colleges, what will be my package around after completing MBA?
If i am correct, campus from average colleges pay on an average of 7-8 Lacs. Even average pay for MBA from SIMS is around 8 Lacs. Will it be a good move to go for a full time MBA? I am not sure of E-MBA. What are the colleges I should target for (with such not so good marks)?
Please guide. Your valuable inputs are highly appreciated.
still no advise

Hi Devi,
In my opinion, you wont find much difference between the salary you get after MBA and the salary you can get after a switchover to a new company right now. The thing that will change will be your job profile. Many people do MBA for changing their job profile and not just for getting fat packages.Further, MBA opens a lot more avenues in front of you, in other words, you can have a diversity in your profile, which is very difficult in case you are only into technical. For senior positions, companies prefer MBAs. So think of profile and success in long run. All the best
Dear Puys, I m in a big dilemma. I m an MCA pass out from NIT(REC) in 2008, right now working as a software Engineer in Kolkata in a software company with 3 yrs of exp.I m 27 yrs old now and planning to give CAT,JMET this year. by the time i will complete my MBA i will be 30.So i m bit confused here.
Next year I definitely want to join a good MBA program. So plz help abt this . Also the main reason for me to do MBA is that I always want to do MBA but....
Any how also when people asked me "where u want to see urself after 5 yrs now " .I an totally blank for this question.
Alos let me know some good University MBA programs....
Or any suggestion for my career as well my personal growth ....
I think you should try for exec MBAs from ISB, NSU, GL, etc...u will save 1 yr.
I m sure that my employer is also not going to release me before in next 2 moths..
say he wont release me till 15th Aug or so...so what to do..
Cant I simply stop going to office and join d cllgg? pls help. Cllg starting frm 15 th July..
Most companies release their employees on time on higher education grounds, check with your HR and manager. They might release you early. Dont do the mistake of joining company without getting relieving letter, as without that your work ex will not be counted.

Hi frenz,
I am working as a software engineer in an MNC with 10 months experience. I love to enter into the financial sector.I would do my MBA in 2013 fall. I wanted to work in finance sector before doing MBA and I have been advised to do CFA but i have some doubts.
1) I have done Engineering. I have to start learning everything from scratch. So can a person like me with no financial background can give CFA?
2) I am really passionate about studying finance. I am very much confused as from where should I begin my preparation.
3) Should I go to some tutor to learn the basics or self preparation would help???
your response would be highly appreciated.thanks in advance...

Hello everyone
Right now I am stuck in a terrible job working under a whimsical boss whose only work is to demoralize his juniors.I have secured 89 % in 10th and 12th and 74 % in graduation.I have already completed 1 year in this company. Should I leave this job and sit at home and prepare for CAT coz this job is really creating a havoc on my mental health. But then, does work ex play an imp role?
P.S I have already joined AIMCATs and have been securing 95+ in the same.
Please please reply. I am really fed uo of that bully

A work-ex of anything less than 12 months is not given much importance...But then if you score highly in written tests and perform well in GD-PI, lack of work-ex can be nullified...

Hi boddy,
Am working in TCS for the last 6 months and also preparing for MBA exams...So can tell you that a lot depends on the project you are in and the Project Manager you are working under...In some projects you can get enough time for yourself but then some projects can screw you up! And I feel that the case will be the same in other companies as well...
Hi puys,
I passed in 2010 from calcutta university with 63.5%...10th 74.8 & 12th 84.75%. I worked in Sbi Life insurance as an HR graduate trainee for 7 months (till 5 Apr'11) thereafter leaving the job for poor pay and unusually long work hours (believe it or not even for HR) At present i am at home preparing for MBA entrance tests. Will this short gap be a problem for admission to good B-schools like XIMB, IIFT. Should I learn a few foreign languages meanwhile? Help me out puys......thanks

Starting on a cool note, 5th April is my birthday and you resigned on 5th April, and we are making this post on 5th July!

Coming to your query, any work-ex of less than one year is not given much importance...Now that you have left the job, the gap will have some negative influence in your Personal interview and you will have to justify the reasons for the same. As an alternative, you can join some NGO, which will not create gaps in your profile...hope that helps!
