Hi All, I have 3 Years of work ex in IT...and d only option for me is Welingkar bangalore (PGDM)..Dont want to give CAT one more time... pls tell me..what shd I do...urgent...
Hi Nishi123,
First things first.... 3 yrs is a gud amount of experience !!!
Few questions for you: Why waste it on Welingkar ???? Does CAT seem boring ??? :pity: :pity:
If are very sure that after 4 years of experience (i.e. if you give CAT 2011), you won't get any better college than go for Welingkar ....
Hi guys I am working in a major oil PSU since last two years. My CGPA after graduation in mech. engg. was 9.42/10 with about 80 % in both 12 th and 10 th.
I am really interested in fellow programmes in mgmt.
I have learnt that the cutoffs for fellow programmes in IIMs are quite lower than that of regular PGDM( say 91-92 %ile). Is it true? Can we get into these programmes straight after B. E.?
Also my cat score was about 94 % ile in CAT 2010 but didn't apply for fellow programmes due to sheer negligience. Will any IIM consider CAT 2010 scores for admission in FPM 2012.

Plz. reply.
Fellow programmes are PHd level programmes. You need to be a post graduate to be eligible. Also, while the cutoff is lower, there are other serious checks like ur work experience, ur reasons for joining FPM etc etc...
I think you can chose either way..as both would help in long run 😃 mostly i have not felt that great a need for CA to go for MBA.. but nevertheless u can take a call.. but don't leave ur CA in between..finish it off would be my suggestion..of after CA u gain exp in finance..it would be a good value addition
Obviously wud be completing my CA first at any cost...hope wud be become a CA by the end of this month. My concern is after getting qualified shall i go for it...

You can consider joining executive MBA program which is of one year with 3//4 years of experience, it will be good.
Your work ex is good. I wud personally suggest not to go fo welingkar bglr. Analyse ur position n build the confidence in urself that u can give it one more try. There could be something much better waiting for u. :)
You might also look for attempting GMAT once. A diff format of exam might interest you.

10th-80% 12th-75% bcom-46% (really low) currently preparing for CA but not able to clear in 3 attempts.
i have searched n most the bank PO eligibility is 55% or 60% at graduation level except sbi this time. if he does masters course like M.Com does his Masters percentage count as eligibility??
Any other career options apart frm CA/CS/CFA for him as a Commerce graduate student ??
I am working for one of the MNC in Mumbai. I have 3+ years of exp in SAP BASIS and my current CTC is around 5 Lac. I am planning for MBA.
My SNAP mock test scores are around 55 to 70 and MHCET is around 100 (I know its not enough to get into top colleges ) my concern is, if i go for MBA from not amongst the top colleges, what will be my package around after completing MBA?
If i am correct, campus from average colleges pay on an average of 7-8 Lacs. Even average pay for MBA from SIMS is around 8 Lacs. Will it be a good move to go for a full time MBA? I am not sure of E-MBA. What are the colleges I should target for (with such not so good marks)?
Please guide. Your valuable inputs are highly appreciated.

well ur work profile looks good. Y dont u give a thought to exec MBA. anyways, in big companies i have seen many guys doing well without an MBA..though some companies do keep requirement as MBA. so it again depends how that company operates. MBA would def, add an edge though..
Puys, Do extra courses like Spanish (one gets a certificate after completion of course) give u an edge over others? I mean do b schools consider such certificates?

Not much of an edge IMO... these things might make you seem a more interesting person, with something diff. compared to every other form they read.. might give you an opportunity to maybe guide the interview..
But bottomline in a normal case, not much of an advantage if any.
1) What does an MBA do? I searched this forum for "for dummies'' type posts/articles but was unsuccessful.
2) My undergraduate discipline is chemical engineering. If I suppose I want to remain in the chemical industry, how does an MBA augment my degree? Or does it entail a complete career-switch? I ask this because most MBAs I know/have heard of are ex-engineers who now work in business fields completely unrelated to their undergraduate discipline.
3)How is an MBA different from a Post - graduate programme in management like this :
