can u eleborate upon ur JD in the investment Bank?????
in my opinion if you are looking for a relaxed life thn the Govt. Bank job is the best.
The BA in IT giants is just another job but it totally depends upon you how u capitalise on whatever is thrown at you just be on a look out for opportunities while u r at it.
enjoy
Consider a generalised back office job that students get after mba from mediocre institutes. So even i dont know xact JD. M looking for a balanced life( growth as well as relaxation) How abt working in a bank for 2-3 years ..doin some pure finance work (and not RM n sales) .. and then going into IT. Will that be any better as compared to joining IT straightaway???
what i have thought is that : i wld mention my family business (automobile) in wrk ex, wrkng in ur own business ,will be considered as wrk ex or nt?
Previous work ex even in family business is considered provided you were in the company payroll. At the time of the interview 2 things are generally checked for the work experience 1)Salary Slip 2)Work ex proof given by the HR of the company. So,you need to have atleast any one of these documents to substantiate your work-ex.
I want to you all experts to guide me whether its sufficient to prepare for CAT 2011..as i plan to appear in this year's CAT......also please guide whether should i take postal material of TIME?
Are u sure you would be able to devote the tym required for the preps without classroom connect, by that I mean atleas 6 hrs a day thn yes u shld go for it.
Hello everyone Looking for some guidance on how I should proceed. I am a Mechanical engineer and after that I have worked in IT for 15 years in USA. Now back in India running a business successfully that I plan to sell next year. Would want to go back to US as I am a citizen there and my kids will be attending school there in a few years when they complete their 12th. I want to do CFA and MBA both but the question is, should I do MBA first or CFA first? Which one would be the better option. If doing an MBA first is better, then can you suggest any schools that offer a distance MBA program that also are considered decent programs as not all distance MBA programs are considered decent. And if doing CFA is better, what institutes in Hyderabad, India offer a good training or is self-study sufficient?
And I know no one can predict how the future will be, but assuming all izz well, what kind of a career prospects do CFA+MBA or MBA+CFA have in the future considering the current market conditions?
Thanks so much for your time. Also note that I am 37 years of age, so am in a hurry to settle down after making a decision on this.

Dear Raj,
you can do CFA and MBA both at the same time, as CFA can be eaisily done with self prep, the ting is that you would be required to invest quality time to the cause.
as for Distance MBA, instead of distance learning you should look for an executie program from any of the IIM's, they have 6mths to 1 yrs programs and at times they are weekend connect sorts also. look into it according to my spectrum of knowledge tht would be a great option for you.
hi i am an aspirant for cat 2011. I have 2 job offers as of now : one with deloitte, hyderabad (profile : business tech. analyst) and other with a digital media company in noida with a software developer profile
I am confused as to join which of them.
considering that i put up in delhi and commuting to noida would take just half hour , I might get good preperation time for cat.
at the same time , deloitte is giving me a profile that might be relevant in context of doing an mba. But relocation at this point of time might not give me enough time to prepare.
I had 97 percentile in cat 2010 and call from iim-k which i didnot convert.

hmmm.......
If you think u can crack it this time thn opt for Noida, but always remember brand name helps.
Deloitte is a huge brand and would be like a star on ur CV, and if you have tym join into Deloitte gain good experience for a year or two and thn go for CAT........

for securing an IIM call u need to have good acdemics al through, in the upper bracket of marks like in 80's.
as for prep around a years tym is sufficient provided you devote the requisite time to it. Job experience in INdia is not necessary but might help slightly in some some and greatly in some instituttes
Hello everyone, I need some serious career advice from you all. I completed my graduation in june 2010(bba) and appeared for cat in nov 2010. I couldnt get a good score and therefore couldnt make it to any of the prominent colleges. Now i am so worried and confused as to what should be my next step.
Though i am not planning to drop another year, but even if i take up any job, it would become impossible for me to manage my studies along with work.
Secondly , should I settle for any mediocre college ???
Scores: CAT : 82 XAT : 77 SNAP : 96 NMAT : 196
Dear i will suggest to go with a job and along with work try to manage approx 3 hours study on week days and 5 to 6 hours on weekends so that u can again be well in touch with basics and then enhance your learning..... This is only possible provided u have a one more year to wait and also hungriness to get into a good B-school......... I think giving AIMCAT of TIME and PROC MOCK of CL will suffice SO take ur time to think what u actually r aiming at........

Start CAT preparation as soon as you are sure that your career of choice is management... I do not wish to say, that you should join a coaching class in the 2nd year of engineering. You could start working on your weak areas such as .... vocab/ reading/ etcc.... I believe, you should join a coaching only in the pre final or the final year. Yes IIMs do give importance to academic performance. Log on to individual IIM websites to know more about their criteria last year. The criteria have changed a lot in the last 5/ 6years that I have been following CAT.
Work experience is not necessary to get admission to IIMs...although around 60 to 70 % of any top B school batch in India has some work experience. Whether you should do it after or before working somewhere is a subjective issue - depends on a lot of factors - your professional goals/ personal goals / family etc ....But as far as career progression is concerned, it will make no difference whether you do MBA before or after getting some work experience...

Hi! There are several ways you can make a decision - but from your perspective .. join the company which will provide you with the best quality of work ... a lac here or there at the start of your career will not matter in the long run .... but if you get a good exposure at the start of your career , you will stand better chances of admission to good b shcools...
I need some suggestions regarding the following issue. I have recently been offered a faculty post in a coaching institute. I am currently working in an IT firm. The offer I have received will more than double my current pay. But I am concerned about the effect it will have on my profile and how the IIMs and other MBA colleges(abroad) will see this. Will they see me as someone with a different work experience? Moreover, I have not come across anyone who has done an MBA after accepting a pure teaching role in a coaching institute.
Really need help ASAP. And thanks a lot for the advice in advance.

Generally speaking- a purely teaching role is not what a B school is looking for. You should pick a purely teaching role for one of the two reasons -
1. You are weak in one of the sections - and by weak I mean really weak and need a lot of time to prepare for that section. And your current profile does not allow you lots of free time.
2. You are in need of money in the short term - and this job is paying you more money.
Summarizing my point of view -If I were you and I wanted to do MBA in the next few years , I would never pick a purely teaching profile.
