i have got the offer from GLIEMR(pgp energy management 2011-2013).i have around 3 yrs work exp as Software developer in CTS and presently drawing a salary of 3.6 lack p.a
i am in a dilemna to whether join it or not considering the pro's and cons
Advantages-
Brand name of Great lakes.
pretty good summer placements as Psu's like HPCL,BPCl ,IGL, etc came to it.
smaller batch size(60)and summer placement offer of 1.5 per student
disadvantages
Not aicte recognised course.
no infrastructure as its own building is expected 2 be complete by feb next yr.
placement package
this would be 2nd batch of Energy Management course.So cant guess the type of companies 2 visit the campus
if i reject this offer then considering that the only other convert for me was imt-dubai( but i am nt willing to join it considering ROI of 16 lc).so i will have to write CAT again next year or should i opt for ICICI bank 1 yr course in SECURITY Markets (PGCSM)which it has started in collaboration with NISM and promises to give 12.5 lc package
i know the final decision is upto me but i would appreciate any valuable suggestions from you all..

there are various IIT's and not all are same with respect to quality of Placements and education from excellent to average
fresher makes no difference unless u want to specialize in ops, if u want to do ops then a 2 year core exp wud be very handy , but anyways u shud realise wheter u can get a better college of not
GUYS MY FINAL YEAR EXAMS OF BBA ARE OVER . my specialisation in 3rd year was marketing . im looking for a job and uploaded resume to timesjobs and monster jobs for something in marketing that will help me in 2011 admission season . what type of job should i look for ? i want to do mba in marketing or IB , got a few mails but they r of bpo's
I am doing bba (3rd year, not going great BTW)and I want to do some practical course after bba so that I can get some
decent job related to my field. I am not looking insurance selling or BPO jobs .NO, I dont want to do MBA after BBA.I want work experience.
I was thinking about doing CFP (certified financial planner) or NCFM modules which can help me get a job (or as an intern) into financial market.
Well basically i want stock market related jobs
I know I cant get big pay jobs just by doing CFP or NCFM course but I want industry exposer.
I am dying to work. I want real industry experience.
I hate rote learning, I am more of 'learning by doing' type .

Now ,which course would you guys suggest me to do after BBA AND what kind of jobs can one expect after doing these courses
AND how easy or difficult it would be to get a job after doing so and so courses.
guys really need some advice.. I gave my first cat in 2007 got 99.2in cat(filled only iim's) got 2 calls both reject. got a xat of 99.77. (filled xlri only).missed out on sectionals.. i only filled iim and xlri as i had a great job on campus in my fav profile in the company the smart cube.. they didn't give me joining in recession in 2008 and had to join tcs.. was so frustrated with tcs that did not give cat 2008 and didn't do much in cat 2009.. tried hard this yr again.. managed a 97 this yr in cat.. got rejects from sibm,scmhrd,iift,ximb and a few more good colleges.. converted imt g and gim. have deposited the fees in gim as imt g is not at all good.. i even resigned from my company but now i am having second thoughts of going for mba from gim. i think i am wasting my talent but the problem is i have pathetic acads which i believe is the major reason for my rejects in so many places.. i know i can crack any exam but i can't change my acads now.. also my projects is one of the worst any1 can get.. domestic project and loads of work load.. so not even a good profile for me here as well.b schools abroad rarely take ppl from IT without onsite.
some of my frnds advice me to go for mba this yr and if u don't get ur choice of profile do a 2nd mba from usa after 3-4 yrs job.. am really confused what to do.. please guys help.. i am really really confused..

the biggest problem with that is i am too frustrated with my job and that is downgrading my performance.it came down from 99.2 in 2007 to 97 now.. for me cat is not about talent(i know i have it) .it's about temperament which i am losing in my current job.. and already with almost 3 yrs work ex it may get a bit too late.maybe i'll go in for gim and will do executive mba after 4-5 yrs from usa. maybe if i find a good job post mba i can crack gmat..

by your post i can see ur in tcs.. i am from tcs as well. after mba u will join as business analyst in tcs or equivalent in any other company.. waise 1 personal question?? how can some1 in tcs wanna come back to IT?

Best is Finance(major) + IT (minor) .If not Marketing(major) + IT (minor)
Must keep IT but not as majors .
Reason -> u already hv IT work ex so by MBA u shud xpand ur scope of profiles u can get . Altho u will get a BA profile watever u do

You are soooo wrong dude.
This is not the way u shape ur career.
IT toh pehle se hi hai..no one is snatching away ur education and work ex..if u wanna stick to IT , I will simply say dont do MBA.(OR do it only frm some instt known for its IT MBA )
Even BTech guys(if they hv proven themselves in initial 2-3 years) get BA roles wich MBA freshers get.
Think of doin MBA to xpand ur opportunities.
Keep IT as only an option. The way u see it...ur home and destination are same.

IT companies are same everywhere.. they take people from cs as well as non cs background.. in both btech as well as mba..so try opening up your options as mr 87ln rightly pointed out..
Hey guys, I am planning to give CAT and other MBA exams this year. I am currently working is a PSU but would like to quit the company before the exams begin (sometime in November). Can someone please help me with this decision ?

am goin to finish my BE in electronics and telecom this year .i have been placed in accenture .but i really dont wanna do coding.i may have a chance to intern in rediffusion y & r and ad agency but as it is an internship it may not turn into a job...in the mean time i also want to prepare for CAT this year
should i take accenture and stick it out and try to study for cat whenever i can/
or
should i take the internship and get time to prepare ...if i do will it affect my b school interviews as in why the shift to advertising....
