I see all the %tages being discussed...can anyone tell me if its best of 5/4 ?

There is nothing like best of 4 or 5. Its a misconcept developed by students.

actualy in ICSE i think it is best or 4/5 somethin like that

usualy the percentage as mentioned in ur marksheet is considered depending on how ur board calcuates it

As said earlier, its a misconcept developed mainly by ISC/ISCE students.
I did my 12th from ISC. ISC board has nowhere mentioned that percentage will be calculated taking only best 4 subjects into account.
Say I m a dud in Maths..I scored say 40 out of 100 but I get 90 in rest 4.
Then according to some students , my % will be 90 which is a complete non sense and also defies logic.
But then this thng has bn there for years now so many students say its best 4 or 5 when clearly its not as its not written officially anywhere.

At the back of the marksheet its written pass criteria is English+3 and almost every ISC school puts up their merit lists according to that...also every college is taking that for undergrad admissions.....

There is a difference in that. For being declared as PASSED u need to pass in 4 subjects including English. But for % calculation all subjects by default will be taken into account since ISC has not mentioned tht anywhere. I mean u think urself, y on earth will 1 subject be xcluded??
There shud be absolutely no doubt in that. Pls dont follow ur frnds or even teachers if they say its best of 4. If on any ISC document,u see its best 4 then only it can be best of 4 oderwise not.

though i am not from ICSE , i would recommend you search others threads like those of IIM-K and you will find something regarding it , because i came across it on lot of threads that's how ICSE students enter their marks .
Do a bit of googling regarding this and check the posts of this site ,but m still not sure so maybe you re right

Read the article. Good u brought it up.
See its a 2010 ruling I believe. So that duz give some weight to
the argument. However, my personal opinion is that unless a board gives it in written, a student shud calculate his % in the normal way by taking all subjects into consideration.
I mean such a "luxury" is no where else .

Hi Friends

I need some help , regarding NCFM certifications , if not NCFM then any other certifications to differentiate my profile, i could not pursue CFA because of economic constraints, so would like to know about any specific certification which could help me improve my profile

I have 30 months of IT work ex, pursuing MBA at IMI Delhi , and i am doing summers at Stan Chart under private banking division read wealth management division (just mentioned if this internship experience can be complemented by any specific certification )

Any guidance is appreciated

Thanks in advance

Buddy u r only 20..I suggest u keepon writing CAT for min. 3 times till u get a top 20 b skool.
BTech 59 is indeed a problematic thing..not only for getting into a top b skool but also for getting into a top organizaton wen u r done wid ur PGDM or MBA.
IMHO, xtracurricular and zero work ex wont deter ur chances apart from IIMs.

yes it would surely make a huge difference in PI stage , it would depend now how are you able to justify or cover it , but yeah 2 years gap definitely makes a big impact! so you will need either a very good cover up or an awesome %ile to cover it

u did not specify which IIM i am guessing would be K

here are some ways u can build your profile
1)Add NGO or extra curriclular's in it..take part in Maitree initiatives
2)Take cerifications if there are some related to your work profile..like e.g if u working in Securities project you can take NCFM
3)if you are interested in finance then try and give CFA L1 would be a huge advantage in interview stage
