hi everyone,
i'm mahesh. I completed my btech in EEE and am now working in infosys. I would like to join a b-school in 2012. i'm providing my acads below.
10th : 88.4 (CBSE)
12th : 82 (CBSE)
btech : 75.6 (State university)
work exp : 7 months as of now (20 months when admission starts in 2012)
profile : not bad

i'd like to know what are my prospects. based on current admissions the relevance of CAT is going down. what kind of cat score can take me to a top 15 college in india?

I gave GMAT one and half year back.My score is 560.
I am working in TCS for last one and half hear..
I am planning to appply for MS in MIS in UTD.
I have a very good academic record
Tenth- 92%
+2 - 97.4%
Engineering GPA - 9.29.
Profile is good..
I need help how would be the career prospects for MIS grad..Is it better to apply for University of Dallas.
Will I get an admission from the UTD.
Please help me out in suggesting the other possible career paths....and other universities which I can get into with my score..

Presently i am working with a reputed software company in Tech Support.

I only want the specialization advice based on my profile.
After your recommendations i will choose the Business School.

I plan to take up Marketing as my specialization in my MBA. I will complete my BE MECH. this year.
Should I go for a job in Technical Sales after my Graduation as I think this would be an added advantage for my MBA (marketing). i will go for my MBA after two yrs of my service.

I'm about to complete my BE final yr frm Osmania. I have a job offer from both Deloitte and Headstrong. I'm in a fix, unable to make a choice. Deloitte has no bond, pays 4.xx lacs per annum. Headstrong has a bond for 2yrs and pays 4L per annum. I belong to hyderabad and Deloitte posting is in hyd too, but Headtsrong's in B'lore. I want to go for an MBA, if not this year, definitely next year.

Can someone plz tell me which would be better and add to my profile?

Headstrong wasn't an option until recently when i had heard tht there's too much workload in deloitte compared to headstrong and I thought this would hamper my preparation for CAT. And even heard tht Training is good at Headstrong.

Please HELP!!

Hi

Would suggest you to go for Deloitte. Reasons being :

1. There is no significant difference and Deloitte will score slightly higher in terms of brand value.

2. Deloitte is giving you posting in your hometown which will help you to focus on your CAT preparation well despite the hectic schedule of office.

3. There is no bond in Deloitte so it saves you from the tension of bond violation / buying bond period etc in case you get through one of your dream colleges next year . You will still fall short by 1 year in completing the bond period of Headstrong.

So, considering all these factors , i would have joined Deloitte had i been in your shoes. Hence, suggest you the same :)

Hi,

Recently, I came across Li and Fung Hongkong group calling people with minimum 3 years of work experience and valid TOEFL score for their management associate program. They will provide training as supply chain management in Hongkong and will recruit you as managers in their company with high package.

My question is are there any such more programs from corporates/companies in India or abroad which look for people with work experience and provide them management education and then recruit them as managers in their own organization.

Please let me know, if you are aware of any such program.

I am an engineering student in my final year and final sem right now. I am a CAT aspirant and secured 70%ile in CAT 2010. A couple of weeks ago I got selected in Mahendra Satyam and I still havent recieved any call letter from them.

My Dilemma :
Should I prepare myself for CAT 11 and go for a drop? ?
The other option is to go for the job right now and give CAT after 2 years or so after the Bond expires.

My Acads are pretty average: 10th 12th BE 70% AND NO Work Ex,No extra curriculars.

Hi everyone.
I'm about to complete my engineering.I have a decent core engg. job offer, 5 and a half lpa,3 years bond.I gave CAT and other MBA entrance exams this year, but could not clear any of them. Decent acads, decent extra and co-curriculum activities.
That is for the background.
Now I'm stuck in a dilemma : Should I work for 5 years and then probably go for an Executive MBA programme to advance within the company, or should I keep giving MBA entrances every year until I get through?
My understanding is that if I take up an MBA programme within the next 2 years, my field of working changes and my B.Tech EEE degree is rendered of no use thereafter. Also, if I go for the Executive MBA programme after 5 or so years, it'll help me grow within my company.
To be frank, one of the big reasons for an MBA is a fat salary package for me. And to be frank again, I have no idea where my interests could lie,the reason being I have no knowledge of what goes on in these fields, what are the job prospects, what are the courses, etc etc.
It could be Finance,could be Marketing,could be Risk Advisory, could be anything.
I have 4 months before joining my job where I have nothing to do.I could make use of this time to prepare for CAT.
But I'm in a big big dilemma. :banghead:
As always,PG and PGites have risen to the occassion and helped us confused souls.Please do help me now.

I would suggest you take up CAT preparation and work a lot on improving your percentile but at the same time, continuing working as well with Mahindra Satyam.

Hello...m pursuing btech...nd in 3rd yr..rite nw i hve joined d coachin for mba..nd my btech percentile is sufferin jus bec of dat...m nt able to maintain balance b/w the two...bt as i wl b givin cat frst tym dis yr..so nt sure bout my preparations..at d same tym btech is also imp.. as it is an alternate fr mba if i din cleared dis tym...m confused..wat to do..??



see i wil tel u try n balance the schedule btw b.tech n mba coaching. if ur b.tech scores drop then its a problem bcuz even if ur cat %tile is good u wont get call frm top notch collegess bcuz of ur b.tech score . further it wil pose a problem in interview's . also if ur score drops 2 low u run a chance of being not placed in campus interview. consider these things. also use some time mgmt stratergies 2 balance ur schedule. hope it helps cheers:cheers:
