Thanks veracious_vik....i refreshed my window for like 15 times to see if someone had replied...
My dilemma lies in the fact that its a family venture and like u said someone might take it as an "undue advantage"....
Absolutely, go ahead & join your Dad's start up.
Considering, the experience of your Dad, you would be looked after well & you would have lots to learn. An experience in a start up will not only broaden your mind but also will help you score over others during interviews. Make sure to present yourself as someone who did not get undue favours due to the start up being owned by your Dad.
Also, you will definitely have more time to study for CAT as well.
Its a win-win situation.

Hey Puys
I need to know when do IMS and TIME begin their test series and what is fee structure. Also suggest if any other insti have better test series material than both of them.
Thanx
Hey Puys...
I completed my BE(E&TC;) in 2009 and preparing for CAT 2011.
Currently i am working in a core Telecom Company for the last 1.5 years. The work was good initially but now it has turned into a very monotonous experience everyday. And alongwith the job i havent got a lot of time to prepare for CAT.
I wasnt very interested in the tech field.Nd i havent really enjoyed my work from day1.Rightnow i have an opportunity to work with a family startup.
My father is opening his own HR consultancy(He's was Director HR in a big company previously).
What i wanted to know was if i quit my job and join the startup full time will it be taken as a negative in my interview?
Will it be counted as full time exp???
If i join then technically ill have full time exp.And that too good exp since it is a startup and alongwith that ill get some decent time to prepare for CAT.
Waiting for ur opinions.
Rahull...
It's good that you have an option now...I can't tell you what to do, but if i were you, i would have definetely joined the start-up for the following reasons
1) You seem to be bored of the monotonous job in your present organisation.Joining a startup will give you a career change.
2) Since it's your dad's startup, the responsibilities and learning will be more. And in case your considering some foreign MBA in future, your profile would stand alone in a pool of Indian students with IT experience.
3) As you said, you'll have more time for your CAT preperation.
P.S : I'm not too sure what your job profile will like for an engineer in HR Consultancy firm...please make sure it suits your aptitude and interests also:cheerio:.

Study material is of same level for IMS, CL and TIME.
but the AIMCAT test series of TIME is best as most of the serious aspirants give it.

Generally Mock series of any institutes star in end of May..last yr it was 4500 for IMS..TIME also charged almost same fees for its enhanced test series.
Guys n fellow puys...
Need a sincere guidance n views from you ppl.
I am 23 & have close to 2 years work-ex n I have
admit into IBS - Hyd & a call from IFMR & gave my
VI for IMT-G, my work-ex and preference for MBA is
for Finance Field only...meanwhile I have enrolled
in Chartered Accountancy and prep. for Intermediate
Level..Now guys my ques is what are your views
on my MBA admits? Should i go for these full time
programs or should I enrol for Executive Programs from
premium institutes and appear for my C.A exams??
In the long run which will be the one from whom I will
be benefitting the most?? I know it's highly subjective
but just want ur sincere views...
Another question if I choose to go for MBA which one will
be the most beneficial...considering my work-ex (I know
comparing b-schools is not allowed and neither I want to
as every b-school is unique, I am just confused with my
position as of now)...
Plz puys do give ur views....
Hi Guys,
Even I require an advice. I am currently working in IT industry with total work exp. of 1.5 yrs out of which 1 yr is in the current company. I am on service agreement here till May 2012. Now I'm planning to enroll for an MBA in 2012 and have started preparing for it.
But on analyzing where I may be in 2 yrs time if I continue in this industry, i feel that I need to be in a real good college to make the investment on an MBA worth while.
So, I require inputs from all of you guys on the colleges I should aim for. Given that I believe that I'm not an IIM material.
Thanks in advance.
Hi bro, i m also in the same position....i m trying top 10-40 institute...for which u need around 95%ile....joining these institute is worthwhile... i thinks..
Hi Puys,
I am in a major IT company for past 1 year, Planning to take CAT by this time. Meanwhile I have offer from Central Government as a clerk where I will get lot of time for preparation. Thing is its a remote area where in I need to opt for Self Preparation. Also I haven tried CAT before.
Kindly suggest me which to option to take.
Continue in IT or to take the other offer.
Also will there be a problem for admissions if I take a shift my job.
Thanks in Advance.
veracious_vik SaysJust aim to score 99.99+ in your CAT & hope that IIMs don't screw candidates again on the basis of scores in 10th & 12th, even though you have excellent score in 10th & decent enough in 12th. Anything less than 99 would decrease your chances of getting into an IIM by a huge magnitude.
thanx a lot broooooo

Hi Amrita
As u hv stated, u appeared for CAT this year while u already on job. U certainly wud have experienced how stressful it is to prepare for CAT along with the job so If u can leave the job better do it. CAT as u wud hv found requires extensive dedication and it can only come through focussing urself into it.
As far as work ex is concerned, dont worry about it because 15 months work ex is sufficient enough as far as u can make ur it count while u face interviews in future. Whether u get a call or not work ex would definitely matter. What I feel is be in the job and try to dedicate as much as possible and crack it this time. It would obviously be requiring an extra effort..!! and the job-ex will also add up simultaneously..!!

See the thing is if u leave the job and didnt crack CAT u will be in immense pressure and then u will have to be reasonable at the same time as to what went wrong.

On the other hand while u are in job, this reason is sufficient if things dont go ur way. Plus you keep on aggregating ur job ex.

U can make it large and prove something only if you be in job and get through in CAT.
So be there and start preparation afresh.

All the best.
hello everyone,
I m in a in a confusion especially after a lot of buzz over the profile issue for CAT. My profile is liek this

so, can anybody tell me what are my chances for IIM A B C L ... and how much %ile i should get to get the calls from these B schools. I would be glad if somebody can help me to clear this confusion.

Whatever u do....dont leave ur job......
I m telling from my personal experience....i quit my job for CAT n other exams....my CAT score this yr( or for tht matter scores of most of the exams) is less tht wht i had managed last yr when i was preparing with job...
Reasons tht i could figure out are:
1. You have CAT CAT n CAT all time in ur mind.....this is nt 12 th stndrd exams where u could slog 10 hrs a day n get a big score...
2. u dont have a back up ...so pressure is immense....which most of the times backfires...
3. interview me the panel is not interested in anything else but the reason u quit ur job...n they grill u like anything......
So its better to be in job n squeeze out time to prepare for CAT...
P.S. I have committed this big mistake n noe cursing myself...
Luckily i am expecting to get another job in a week or two....n mission CAT 11 will kick off after tht.....

Yes whatever you are saying is absolutely true hmm but i know i hate my job but i guess i have to revamp myself and my ideologies
to make it big.....at both places!!
Thanks so much yaar really needed opinions....
