Hi ppl..
I need some advice..I am BTech CSE graduate frm GGSIPU Delhi..
I am currently working with an IT company for the past one year in normal IT profile..
I got an offer from Evalueserve for their IPR division as a patent analyst..
I wanted to get some info on what exactly the work I will be doing as it is totally unrelated to software development and would mean a complete change in career path if I join..
Looking forward to ur reply..
Thanks for tht piece of info.... i have applied to a dream job based in banglore through freshersworld.com.
my obvious query now is tht is this site reliable enough ??
i mean do u or any of ur friends have some good experiences from this site ??
you could also check out elitmus.com.
They conduct a CAT-like aptitude test and based on your score you may get a call from different companies. Many companies like McAfee,Samsung India Software,Citi Financial etc. regularly hire through elitmus.
jadedsoul SaysDepends on the college...although most colleges would accept your salary slip and appointment letter as proof enough. But the next company you join would certainly demand a Relieving Letter...
Thanx for the info. Wouldnt it be obvious that for pusuing MBA I left job and the job i wud get after MBA wud be afresh.?? wud they require a relieving letter then?
Hello everyone....
I am an engineer with 7+ years of work ex in the power sector. At this point of my career I wish to add to my knowledge and value base through a formal education in business management. I want to learn about the various aspects of business management like finance, marketing, strategy. business development etc. As I have a family to look after, I cannot opt for a full time course. So distance learning is the only option for me. I have narrowed down on two programs - PGCBM from XLRI which is conducted via satellite and the PGDBM from IMT CDL which I think is a pure correspondence course. The course content of the PGCBM program from XLRI appears to be a very holistic coverage of management subjects. The faculty for this course is the same as the full time MBA faculty of XLRI. Unfortunately this program is only a certification course and unlike the PGDBM from IMT CDL it does not give any degree or diploma.
I am confused between the two. Should I opt for the PGCBM from XLRI or go for the PGDBM from IMT CDL. Please note I am not expecting to make any great changes of fortune after doing either of these courses. I firmly believe that at this point in my life a management program would lead to addition in my value as a professional and give me an edge over others in the job market.
Any inputs would be of great help.

Hello Puys
I hv a serious query regarding my work ex.I m working in a steel company since last 8 months.
I signed a bond for 3 years with the company.
To pursue MBA possibly i would be leaving the company in 22 months from the month of joining against which i m supposed to pay 2,00,000/- to the company for breaching the bond.
And if i pay the money then and only then will i get the Exp certificate.
I would certainly not be paying the amount.
My question is whether exp- certificate is cumpolsarily required at the time of Admission procedure or any other doc like salary slip and appointment letter would do the cause??:lookround:
Thanx..
Many colleges accept the copies of joining letter/promotion letters (if any) and last pay slip as exp. proof. You have to check it out with the specific college you are interested in though.
This one is on behalf of my friend who s not there on PG..but intends to seek opinions of senior puys here....
He is a mechanical engineer...interested in finance....he is working with L & T for last 8 months...but frustrated like nything....now he has an opportunity to work as a management trainee with FIMMDA ( Fixed Income Money Market and Derivatives Association of India)...its going to be a great learning experience for him as FIMMDA is an association n one gets an opportunity to interact with senior bankers straightaway
Now the dilemma is...whether he should join it or not....one thing is for sure tht he wants to pursue MBA finance...however how much is FIMDAA worth ?? they are going to pay him 7-8 k per month as stipend ( currently he draws some 22-23k per month)
Also how much value (more precisely 'advantage' when it comes to 'relevant work experience')would it add to him ??
He said tht the job wont be much hectic n he ll get ample time to study for CAT n other exams....
Plzz reply...someone..

I think if your frnd is clear on his goal that he wants to pursue MBA Finance then he should go ahead and join FIMMDA as he will get good practical exposure to the nuances of finance industry though not possibly global exposure but still a decent one before getting ready for the real grind of 2 years of MBA Finance. He will be battle hardened before the real battle. He should not look at the low stipend but instead have a long term vision of where he wants to see himself after an MBA Finance.
I hope the advice helps your frnd.

Hey Sanket..Very heartening to see your spirited post as it suggests that you are wise person now & have the right attitude to learn from failures. As any Successful person would tell, Right Attitude alone will take you far. So keep your spirits high & you will achieve what you intend to.
All the best.

One question remains....
how much the name FIMMDA valued ??
Hey guys, there's this friend of mine who completed his 3 yrs of BCom Pass from Delhi University and has only one back (in accounts). Is he eligible for the degree? In regular college, you do get the degree but what about in correspondence?
One question remains....

If your frnd is employed as a regular employee on payroll & not on third party contract or as an internship trainee, then the experience would be counted as genuine full time work experience. And during an MBA interview more than the name of association or Company, what matters is the stuff in the brains of the candidate. Moreover, in most of the 2 year MBA programmes of India, work-ex is not given much weightage in final selections so the value is more in gaining knowledge rather than Work-Ex.
There are several people in IIMs & other top B-Schools who were working in fairly small or not-so-well-known companies before getting admitted there. So it doesn't really matter whether FIMMDA is well known or not.
P.S. I have not heard of FIMMDA
Hello puys!
Like the title suggests, I'd like to know what kind of job one can do which would be considered as work ex for the MBA admission. I've heard that experience in a BPO is not considered. Also, is it necessary to work at a certain minimum designation for the job ex to be considered and does any full time job qualify as job ex? Like, if I work in a decent company as a typist or do back-office work like MS Office... will this be considered as work ex? or do I need to find a job in which is related to what course I've done like in my case I've done BMS(Bachelor of Management Studies)...
Kindly let me know... I'm really concerned.
Regards.

If your frnd has cleared the back in another attempt then he is definitely eligible for the degree.

So that means he won't get the degree right?! Thanks in advance

Dont worry too much about the nature of work ex being evaluated during MBA admissions. As such most of the B-schools offering 2 year MBA don't give much weightage to the work-ex during admissions. I hope you are aware of this fact...
. There is no minimum designation which is considered as a requirement for work-ex to be considered. And BPO experience would not be a hurdle during admission process if you manage to score great in the entrance test. Nowadays, many Non-IT engineers (eg. Mechanical, electrical etc) are working in IT Cos as Software Engineers so it really doesn't matter if you chose to work in an area not related to your educational background. You may be asked about it during interviews, so you must prepare a logical answer for it.

You can definitely include your entrepreneurial experience in your work-ex. You will score some points for that definitely during interview but not during shortlisting for interview.
Is a white shirt with tie n black trousers acceptable for a PI???
No need for blazer???
