mohit_1598 SaysAt present pursuing engineering in electrical discipline 2nd year. Will shift my career as a manager in near future so i want to know is there any good course for me which will update my profile and give me an edge over others but the course should be through correspondence. Thanks for help in advance.
Dear Mohit..its good that you have already started planning about your career options so early but frankly speaking it is way too early. My advice would be to just concentrate on your core engineering subjects till 3rd year as competence in core subjects will stand you in good stead forever.
You may go for some short term courses in your Electrical Engineering field for which you can seek guidance on PG itself in Specific thread for Electrical Engineering but only iff you have interest. It would be useless iff you just enroll for the sake of adding a certification. You can enhance your profile by actively participating in College Fests, Sports Meets, Various Cultural Clubs & Technical Clubs, Literary Clubs & other various societies. These extra curricular activities go a long way in helping one shape his future career. So don't miss out on these. Any correspondence course would only be useful for you when you start working. So don't go for correspondence course at this point. Just enjoy your time in College to the fullest & get involved in every aspect & activity of your college. This is more than sufficient for you at this Stage & it will greatly reflect on your resume`.

ankit636 Sayspuys which one is better option doing job from tat motors or doing MBA from MAT level college(good ones like JIMS,BIM pune etc..)
I personally think continuing in Tata Motors is a far better option simply because it makes more sense to add one more valuable year of work ex from a reputed company like Tata Motors & preparing hard for a more reputed college than joining MAT level college. Though, I donot mean to degrade MAT level colleges but the returns of a higher ranked college are far better than a MAT level college. You may not get a salary which you dreamed off before starting your MBA in a MAT level College. My 2 cents.
But in the end its your call totally to decide.
ankit636 Saysalso iwould like to know if do CFA with MBA finance from MAT level colleges(like JIMS etc) then how much package can i expect
It is a very hypothetical question. You may get 7 figure salary or you may get 6 figure salary. It depends on the Market conditions, your knowledge of the subjects & ofcourse the college also. But if you are clear about your goals then you should not feel worried about salary at all. You should be confident enough to command a salary you think you are worthy of.
I am an electrical engineer..working in a reputed MNC (core company) for last 1 year ( placed directly from my college)....however i wish to shift my domain..... i am not very good at electrical stuff ( n not enjoying 14 hrs daily on shop floor doing mechanical stuff)...
With no experience in job seeking...i want some help as to how do get into IT co.s like accenture , TCS, infy etc. or some consultancies like delloite ?
i mean...we had these companies at our campus last year during the placement season but i was placed before TCS , infy , accenture came and the likes of Delloite,JP morgan etc. were not interested in ppl other thn electronics, comp science n IT...
I have uploaded my resume in naukri.com, timesjob.com...but the proposals coming from there are utter worthless....
also i have applied on TCS, infi ka website....
also do these companies recruit ppl off campus ?? ( meaning do they have something called ' employee referral scheme' ?? )

You should look through job boards and see what is the hottest technology these days and do some private courses in them in places like NIIT and then look out for jobs in these technologies in smaller IT companies. From there after a year, you can move to a MNC.

Hi
I am a B.Pharm graduate from BITS Pilani. I need some advice! I am looking to work for an year before doing my MBA. I have been placed in 2 companies on campus and am not sure which to go for.
1. Capgemini as sr. software engg. The job will prob not be too hectic as it is a huge company and a mass recruiter. But work will involve coding/developement, which I am not too keen at doing, but will give me time to prepare for mba. Also will a big co. name help me in future?
2. Kony Labs in the Business Development team. The profile sounds very exciting but will involve a lot of effort and possibly travelling. The company is a relatively new one started in 2007 and is growing really fast. Will prob get less time to prepare for MBA. But supposing I do crack cat next yr--Will it be a preferred work experience for an IIM interviewer?
Keeping my profile in mind, what kind of work experience would be best suited for a. Long term goal of an MBA. b. Short term goal of cracking interview at a b school.?
Please do help me out!
Thanks! :)
brand value matters..since ur from bits u already have 1...associate urself with a good brand & i guess in that case capgemini is def good...from a good mba college point of view this association will matter...
as far as ur short term or long term goals are concerned...u can learn many things from any job...u shd try to grasp the technical knowledge of that field and develop ur people skills tremendously...these can be done and achieved in any environment...these people skills will help u in "cracking interview at a b school."
hope it helps...if further queries ping me...

Hello Puys
I hv a serious query regarding my work ex.
I m working in a steel company since last 8 months.
I signed a bond for 3 years with the company.
To pursue MBA possibly i would be leaving the company in 22 months from the month of joining against which i m supposed to pay 2,00,000/- to the company for breaching the bond.
And if i pay the money then and only then will i get the Exp certificate.
I would certainly not be paying the amount.
My question is whether exp- certificate is cumpolsarily required at the time of Admission procedure or any other doc like salary slip and appointment letter would do the cause??:lookround:
Thanx..
Hi Puys,
I am currently pursuing an MBA (MMS) degree and have to choose my specialization within a week's time. I am quite confused between finance and marketing. My inclination is towards Marketing since the idea of Branding, Product development, Market research etc. excites me a lot and Balancesheets, P/L accounts etc dont.
However, I am a person who would not enjoy a job which involves too much of moving about from one place to another. And my perception of marketing is that it involves just that, because I feel that Marketing involves a lot of sales and that is something I would not be very much interested in doing. I don't feel that I will be bad at sales, but its just that I don't enjoy too much of traveling and moving about. So I may probably enjoy a job profile which requires me to visit the field once in a while, but which majorly involves working from the office. Hence I am confused about whether I should go for Marketing or not.
So requesting people who have a knowledge (and experience) of the various job profiles in marketing to please guide me on whether I should go for Marketing, and which profiles would suit me based on what I have stated above. Would also be thankful if someone can describe the various profiles available in mktg.
Hello people, still waiting for some advice on above query.
Also have an additional query:
My college even gives an option to change ur specialization after summer internship. So wanted to know if it may create any major problems during final placement interviews if at all I change to a different specialization after my internship. I do understand that if i do this, then I wouldn't have any hands-on experience in the field of my choice, but mainly wanted to know if this factor can be a major issue during placements.

Depends on the college...although most colleges would accept your salary slip and appointment letter as proof enough. But the next company you join would certainly demand a Relieving Letter...

depends on ur faith in cracking cat which in turn can be derived from ur mock cat scores or ur past academic background(if u were fundoo in acads) or still the dream of making big in life...if there is faith, then it makes sense to join job and simultaneously prepare...
if not, try to get in touch with the faculty, alumni and plcmnt records of the institutes mentioned nd make a choice amongst colleges...in case u've mentioned final calls then imt wd b good(depends which imt, imtg is good)
