Please help me out. I am putting my current scenario below in points alongwith the dilemma i am facing
1. B.E. (CSE, 2009 passout) - 67 % 
2. 10th - 83.xx % , 12th - 82.xx % :lookround:
3. Working as IT Security Consultant (MNC) ; Exp - 18 Months till date :lookround:
Dilemma : Joined company in July 2009.. was in no mood to write CAT 2009 (and did'nt write it finally)a s i had to concentrate on Job... although i didn't put in any extra efforts. but yeah i was sincere.. got promoted twice so far... but not substantial progress in terms of package.. getting avg. package.. Came Jan 2010.. joined TIME Delhi .. and since my focus was totally on CAT (my first attempt).. i didn't focus much on my job.. (viz . did no technical certification for further growth)... and results are
CAT'10 -
OA - 75.xx %ile , VA - 95.xx , QA- 75.xx & DI - 17.xx 
(attempted only 6 Q's due to time mismanagement)
XAT - OA - 90 %ile , VA - 93.xx , QA - 75.xx , DI/LR - 73.xx (missed sectional & OA cut-off by 1.xx %ile) 
FMS - Missed cut-off by miles :splat::splat:
IIFT - got 27 marks 
Now.. family wants me to change job as the company isn't paying handsome amount...but i want to continue in this company (as workload is not much & i get ample time to prepare + good profile)and give CAT '11 and other B-schools exams one more chance.. want to take admission in top 10 B-schools only.. didn't even write SNAP , NMAT last yr.. not filled NITIE, MDI forms.. However.. as i know myself.. as i'll go for CAT'11 (i confess that i had not given my 100 % last yr)... i would ignore my job once again.. no certifications.. no job related training ..wud do nothin.. but then i do not want to be left bewildered like now by the end of this yr again... with no calls and no apraisal @ Job...please suggest me somthing good...

This is my first post in this forum although I am fan of pg from past 2yrs.
I am here becoz I want "advice" of my life. It can take my career to right or wrong path. I know this is the right forum to ask my doubts as it of full of experts, freshers, experienced people. I want your opinion guys(and gals too) .This gonna be long post.

choice 2: My bro has done his masters from US and he has started his own IT venture. Like me, he is too a technical person. He has always encouraged me to join him and I am also the director of the company. Should I join him and we both brother can work together and create a great company?
pros: I can justify my entrepreneurial skill here. I would get all the resources here.
cons: same as of choice 1. In additional to that sometimes my brother is dominating in nature. So, we have crazy fight sometimes.
choice 3: I should look for another corporate job. work there for an year, have an corporate experience, have a look and feel of company organization and after that start you own.
pros: The experience in corporate world can help me in building my own company.
cons: I have to leave my brother and father business. Wont be able to
join them later as I would have already wasted my precious time.
To summarize I have some basic questions to ask.
is MBA necessary for doing business? or is MBA only for job people who wants to advance in their career ? is doing job necessary in my case?

To join ur Father or bro depends entirely on your own goals..what is ur field of interest....It would be very beneficial to you if u jump in the field and work passionately in each of the field for sumtym ,say 6 months each..then u will be in a better position to take ur decision.regarding MBA u can do it after a year if u really feel the need of it.:cheerio:
simple do not leave ur job...even if u get a call from a good institute they would select somebody who is in job and has scored equal marks as u and not a person who is not in job...
prep can be done alongwith ur job also...devote 2 hrs daily to mba prep and max time on weekends..give all mba exams nd not only cat....
Hey thanks for the reply, but my query wasnt CAT centric.....What about the other exams like IIFT, SNAP and XAT? Will i still not get a call if i have a good score but bad acads? I have no hopes from CAT after seeing this year's admission process.
hi. I passed civil engineering from one of the top colleges and since then have been working in one of the country's biggest construction company since july 2010. the problem is that the job leaves me tired and out of time and there are no weekends also- only sunday halday if lucky. I was about to leave my job wen one of the puys suggested me this thread http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/is-dropping-for-cat-justified-25017842 . and i have gone thru al posts from the very beggining ( yes i have 😛 ) and have figured out that its really not advisable to leave job! I wanted to know if we need to be in the same profile to make the experience count? i mean can one be in core for some time and then switch to software and make the total experience irrespective of the profile count?
is the experience from NGO's count ???? If so can anybdy suggest me some good NGO in pune!? ( m i being too specific ?)

Hi RK,
I would suggest you to go for, Oracle Fin. Services. The simple reason is tht in TCS at times you might not get the opportunities that you may deserve, just because of the huge esourcepool they have in terms of manpower. But that wouldnt be the case in Oracle. On top of it Oracle is a bigger brand then TCS any day.
Go for Oracle.

Hi Vivek,
NGO exp. counts, and yes u can change your domain of work, but u need to be ready with answers as to y you moved from one domain to another incase a question is put to you. Again NGO work helps in a few institutes which give it a higher precedence over other things.

Well!! before saying anything, we need to know the real reason for the gap, medical excuses or the similar excuses would not work before the panel, in case you are thinking...

Been in a lot of dilemma for past few weeks.Need some good advice.This post's going to be a long one.
My CAT 2010 score :
QA - 92.xx
VA - 97.xx
DI - 21.xx 
(Can't believe this.Haven't got below 80.xx in any mocks)
And similar was the story in all other exams - FMS,NMAT,XLRI.I couldn't clear cut-offs and bag any calls.So the season was over.
I'm now in the 8th semester of my engineering.I have a decent job (5.5lpa) with a leading private power sector company in India.
That for the background.Now my problem :-
Before joining my job,I have atleast 4 months with nothing to do.Totally free four months.Should I start preparing for CAT 2011 now itself? Because my biggest fear is that once I join the job in September,I'll have loads of work to do, and no time for that last lap of hard work that is very very important,and that because of this,my preparation of 4 months will also go waste. Should I or Should I Not?

I would suggest you start preparing as soon as possible for CAT. Since, you think once you start working you won't have enough time, it is all the more reason for you to put your all out efforts in those 4 months. Once you do that, you will get the motivation to somehow manage both preparation and office work till the exam and after for interviews.
To give an example: After engineering, I didnt have much time as in, the joining date was in early July. I realised later had I got some time before I joined, it would have been better.
