Start thinking about what all you can do now. Prepare real hard for the written exams. Some IIMs still give full weightage for the CAT scores. Therefore, for you it is more necessary that you get a high score so that it would count for you in the interview stage as well.

mere question ka bhi answer dedo koi bhai

1. dont waste any year
2. if u score high, yes there is scope
3. y r u aiming only for IIMs and MDI, this question should ideally come after u "having scored high in CAT"...there are other top 10 bschools also which u shd luk at and whose exams u shd give...
Hi,

I am working for my family business since last 2 months and i plan to do MBA this year. So can you please tell me how should i show it so that its counted as a full time work experience by the B Schools. Will the Certified Letterhead showing the experience would do ?

Thanks

I need some help. I have two job offers in my hand one is of a business analyst at Mu Sigma and one is as a Software engineer in a product development IT firm. The salaries are comparable with both jobs being at Bangalore. I am a B.Tech in computer science(2006-2010 batch). I want to know what sort of growth I can look forward to in Mu Sigma bcoz people have told me that it analytics is a good profile if u have MBA as your long term option. Also can I switch back to pure IT later i.e after working for Mu Sigma as a business analyst for sometime or should I go for a developer profile from the beginning. Please advice urgently as I have to take a call soon. Thanks in advance.

Pls resolve my query too.:lookround:

Pls resolve my query too.:lookround:

Business Analyst is a good profile for your MBA goal, differentiates you instantly from the IT crowd, quite relevant to future post MBA jobs (especially if you want to go to consultancy), exposure should also be good, knowledge about analytics would be required even after MBA...have not much idea about Mu Sigma though, you need to research more on that...but as far as ROLE is concerned, BA is better anyday, IMHO

hey guys
This is my first post in this forum although I am fan of pg from past 2yrs.
I am here becoz I want "advice" of my life. It can take my career to right or wrong path. I know this is the right forum to ask my doubts as it of full of experts, freshers, experienced people. I want your opinion guys(and gals too) .This gonna be long post.

let me start with my background. I am from business family with my father a trader in steel products. I took science in my school and now I am an computer engineer from reputed college in delhi. All was going well until my final yr when I was in my own dream world. I used to dream to be entrepreneur from the beginning(from the first yr itself! ) and dhirubhai ambani, tata, bill gates were my idols. So, I never took campus placement seriously . As I was very good in technical,I got placed off campus and got an offer which was paying me good amount of salary which was much much greater than of my colleauges. I was happy and after 2 months break from college after my final exams I accepted the offer. After working there for two and half months I had some differences with my boss and I had to leave that job. Actually It was my fault also as I was not taking my boss advice properly. Now I am very very confused for my career. Should I take hunt for another job? Or should I join my father business etc. Basically I have 4 of choices infront of me and I am confused between them.

choice 1: I should join my father business and work for another year. Meanwhile I should prepare for MBA and go for the reputed college MBA degree.
pros: I would be help my father and can prepare for MBA.
cons: I would have to drop my idea of working in MNC and have to work in my own family business.
ques: will that be counted as experience? does that help in my career?

choice 2: My bro has done his masters from US and he has started his own IT venture. Like me, he is too a technical person. He has always encouraged me to join him and I am also the director of the company. Should I join him and we both brother can work together and create a great company?
pros: I can justify my entrepreneurial skill here. I would get all the resources here.
cons: same as of choice 1. In additional to that sometimes my brother is dominating in nature. So, we have crazy fight sometimes.

choice 3: I should look for another corporate job. work there for an year, have an corporate experience, have a look and feel of company organization and after that start you own.

pros: The experience in corporate world can help me in building my own company.
cons: I have to leave my brother and father business. Wont be able to
join them later as I would have already wasted my precious time.

To summarize I have some basic questions to ask.
is MBA necessary for doing business? or is MBA only for job people who wants to advance in their career ? is doing job necessary in my case?
The thing which is eating me is that If I opt for MBA then I would have to consume my precious 2yrs of life in which If I work with passion, hard work then I can easily take my business/start up to a next level. After two yrs It would get too late. I would be then 25ys and you know how family pressure builds up.

I have been thinking of them from the past two months and they have been killing me like anything. Sometimes I feel that I should leave my home and go to a jungle !! I am very confused. you guys must me thinkng . But I cant do anything 😞

First of all you are very lucky.....you want to be entrepreneur and a rich experience (2 family business) and opportunity you have!

Answer to your questions....

1. MBA is not required to start business. It is a step to get a job.

2. 25-27 age to complete mba is perfectly fine.

My advice will be go for entrepreneurship only. The question should be when? before mba or after mba...it will depend how you valve mba degree in your eyes.

Middle option would be to enter business now and do mba after two years (if you feel like) and then resume your business...:cheerio:

IIMs and CAT are very unpredictable....difficult to tell

And for your question, how much to score in cat, i guess you are talking about percentile....answer will be 100%

simple do not leave ur job...even if u get a call from a good institute they would select somebody who is in job and has scored equal marks as u and not a person who is not in job...

prep can be done alongwith ur job also...devote 2 hrs daily to mba prep and max time on weekends..give all mba exams nd not only cat....

keep a keen eye on this year's admission process, as criteria in various IIMs also takes into account your past academic performance. if your acads are not upto the mark then even if you get a 100%ile in CAT it would be difficult for you to bag the call from the elite IIMs. always remember that a bird in hand is worth two in the bush
so I should stop looking for job? and which business you prefer of the two? my brothers or of my father?

u need to make a choice depending on the pros and cons of each option...no spoonfeeding here...
