I am an electronics and telecommunication engineer. I got placed in TCS and completed its training in Java/J2EE. I've been posted to my base branch and the nature of work is completely opposite to what we've been trained.They've mentioned that we would not be learning any technology or our technical knowledge would not be required but our soft skills would be developed in these two years. I feel that i should have concentrated more on my post graduation rather than joining the company. Now I feel that i should resign and continue with further studies. But I am in a dilemma as it is hard to leave a job already in hand and study for another two years. Also i'm aiming to prepare for IES and public sector units. I'm very confused what should i do?

they count evry job as experience for this time go for that job which u have in ur hand after that try to search a good job .

Do not worry buddy .. there are top B-Schools still left which call you on the basis of your CAT performance and not on the basis of what you have done several years ago.
Suggest you to prepare well for next year and score good ... you will get calls from (non iim ) top b schools and even from those IIMs which would not be giving much weightage to your past in next season.

Instead of just following the herd / the 'done' thing, work for a while (atleast a year) and then ask yourself - do you really want to do an MBA (for whatever reason it might be), if it is a yes then dont worry you will be motivated enough to work for it

yes , you do have strong chances if your score is above 80 even if it below 90 .... but if it is even beloe 80, then you need to work hard to get exceptionally good score to get multiple IIM calls... I have been straightforward in replying to this as i dont want to give any false hopes as per your score in 10/12.
However, all this is as per current criteria, no one knows the criteria to be followed next year.

Having scored 98.76 (OA) in CAT in your fist attempt I think you should have no second thoughts on having a go at CAT/XAT/FMS/IIFT next year.
But do not lose focus of MBA once you step into the job. Keep up the same momentum in your preparations once you are in the job.
The above is easier said than done

I have applied for giving improvements in two papers to better my second year score. I got dot 65 in 1st and dot 55 percent in second year.. Looking to work hard this year,to get a decent late sixties or maybe with God's will, touch 70 as an aggregate.
I gave CAT 10 as my first attempt. Managed an OA of 85.29, with 95.65 in va, 91.19 in lr and a mere 29.09 in quant!
I have thought of taking quant classes from Byju and prepare again, while taking up a job July onwards. I want to take up a job because taking a break and just relying on cat '11 is risky.
I am posting a brief profile of mine here. With this profile, I always had a dream to hit some of the big consultancies.
I am about to graduate after pursuing Bachelors of Commerce (Honors) from University of Delhi. I have won 7 academic awards at school and many accolades for Sports and my writing skills,being the Sports Captain at school,leading the football contingent for national competitions and being the Editor of the official college magazine.
I was awarded Fellowship by the Habitat Summit under the aegis of The Planning Commission of India. Also, I have attended various Model United Nations across the country, leading the Indian contingent at an international MUN in Pune.
I was on the research team for a sports book, published by Penguin India. I led a 10 member team, in an international youth organization, AIESEC, constituting students from 7 different countries for an international project, sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank, on HIV AIDS. I also interned with as a Consultant with an Indian firm, and later, with an international consulting firm, with its operations in Central Europe, being solely responsible for their projects in North India. My publications have appeared in leading newspapers like Hindustan Times, Metro Now, and The Indian Express. I have also been featured for youth talk shows on NDTV and as a student speaker on Barkha Dutts show on NDTV.
Besides that, I have worked with an NGO, organized large global youth conglomerations and also interned with The Indian Express. I was also selected from the University of Delhi for attending the Mid-Term Budget Analysis, done by The Planning Commission of India.
Lastly, I also started up with an NPO titled Estoneage, which seeks to promote youth entrepreneurship among young students. It aimed to develop the a new perspective among students towards entrepreneurship and contribution to the nations economy.
People at pagalguy said I would definitely get a SP Jain call, but I did not.
I was hopeful of cracking those McKinsey and Bain Business Analyst jobs,but got rejected there too.
As a last retort, I have the Ernst and Young GSS ..auditing profile interview on friday... was among the toppers in written, did well in GD too.. bu then,came the interview, and they asked me about accounting, E n Y GSS being an accounting firm, and I was clueless, for the sheer fact that I have never been interested in accounting.. nor wanted to pursue a career here.
As of now, I am MBA less, and job less. In spite of working hard towards a well rounded profile, things haven't taken the route I thought they would.
I am aiming towards some well known KPOs now, like Evalueserve, Cvents, Capital IQ, but as of now, every application,which does not fall under campus recruitment, goes unread...
From so many expectations 4 months before, and thinking I would have to choose the best, come January-end, now, I am lost in the world.
And I am confused as to what do do now?

CAT : 78.91 percentile
MAT : 99.09 percentile
SNAP : 66.75 score
IRMA : 79 percentile
FMS: not qualified
IIFT : 18.xx score
JMET : 58.5 score
NMIMS : 172(scaled score)
XAT : awaited
Also i have filled up form for XIMB PGD - Rural Management thru IRMA score which is my last hope.
i have received calls from MAT colleges like Amity, Alliance, Christ and several others.
Seeing my performance this year what do you suggest for me.
Shall i try next year or take admission in any ok-ok college.
If yes, then suggest me some colleges where i can go and are decent in infrastructure and also placements.
please give honest reply as i am really worried and tensed.

Being a fresher and scoring this well is so amazing dude! You can definitely do better the next time around. All I would say is, you also have an option og working for one and a half year, and aiming at cat 2012, because your work experience will more or less cover the hindrance of your class 10 and class 12 scores.. rest..is upto you..: )

Thanks for the prompt reply, my 10th score was 89% and 12th score was 85%.
