:
I secured just a mediocre 87 percentile this CAT :banghead::banghead::banghead:
other papers also went down the drain, waiting for SNAP
Will finish graduation this year, got a offer from Infosys
but people say the Infosys training is too hard that i might not be able to prepare for CAT
so pls suggest what should I do
should I opt for
1) INFY now MBA later
2) SCMHRD (if i get a call at 110.75, SIBM-P sounds bleak) ...
3) fill MIB/MHROD ()
I to be frankly honest have no set goals like others, I only know Computers and other related stuff
So sincerely reply
and please dont say what I wish to do cause as I said I have no fixed goals but just want to get the best of what i could make
how is infosys to start career?
if u ultimately want to do mba after 2-3 years??

I started CAT prep in my graduation final year (2007) for CAT-2007, joined CL...but at that time, got campus placement and did't prepare that well...n scored 80 prcntle in CAT n same low marks in other exams...i joined IT world in Aug, 2008...but i did't like it and stayed just to get valuable work ex for next CAT...i again gave CAT 2009 ..just to get taste of online exam..without prep...got 73 prnctle....now last year(2010)..i joined TIME full time program with wknd classes....thought i'll be good and CAT this time..but could n't even clear it ...n here are scores...
CAT 2010- 70 prnctle(all time low....n that too with prep)..3 attempts till now
IIFT-31.45(best score till now in IIFT..but cut off was 35.95)..2 attempts till now
SNAP-100..3 attempts...best score yet...
JMET-68(2 marks short of cutoff)..2 attempts..best score yet
NMAT...results awaited..3rd attempt..got my best score..but cut-offs..god knows...
FMS.not selected
XAT- no hopes
I can continue in IT now(compromising) but as of now not getting any job interview calls too...want to go for one more prep...on my own...but thinking is it worth taking a chance...due to this years SNAP, i m expecting a call from SIIB n SITM...SITM is still a bit related to my field...but all depends if i would be able to convert its GD/PI call...
i have a slight option to go abroad too..for MBA..but it seems very expensive choice...
i am in a fix...plz suggest what should i do..anyone with same story or anyone else...can guide, suggest...

If you are too desperate too get out of IT then go for Symbi colleges, I understand 3 years is too much too handle but
If you can wait and give one more shot then you should, Given your IIFT / SNAP score you can seriously crack it next year with preparation and other colleges also you might be able to Crack
Dont let your CAT score demotivate you cause for many it has been unfair
Another option would be seriously analyzing what went wrong. Have a beer:drinking: and chill cause its all gonna be fine :cheerio::cheerio:

Thanx a lot man...that's bit stimulating now....now, after ur post, some other counsellings from frens n my internal refinement...i would like to go for SITM...n may again give IIFT/JMET...not sure abt CAT..can afford to waste the SITM fee...n for now...will prepare for GD/PI...it will only add to knowledge...rest,i'll decide after seeing all the results...
Hi All,
I have done my BE(I.T) from pune university in 2008 and from november 2008 I am working in TCS. I have applied for MSc in Business Information Technology System (BITS) program at Strathclyde University for Sep 2011 and have got an conditional offer from them.
Most of the people I have asked for suggestion are suggesting me not to go to UK for higher education as off now. I will joining the program in Sep 2011 and completing it in Sep 2012. My question are,
1) should I go for the BITS program ?
2) what about the job scenario in scotland (UK) ? can I expect a job after completion of the course (as I would be having around 3yrs of work experienc) ?
Please give your suggestion. I am really confused, whether should I go or not (as I will be taking education loan for the same).

Looking at your scenario, you have good work experience.
And just a little bit away from cut-offs (except CAT maybe due to online).
My Suggestion: Forget everything and start practice again for next season, you will surely crack a decent B-School!
It is your decision - you can join SITM too but dont think of joining a B-School and then preparing. Never works
All the Best

Hi Friends
Well I have a work exp of 3.5years in Telecom Sector ( Network engineer ) and working in rotational shifts. I attempted CAT'10, XAT'11 and NMAT'10 but unfortunatelly i was unlucky to come up with good score.

.I cant wait for next season CAT exam as each day is adding to my work exp. I want pursue my post grad. from top B-School for which i have analysed few things :
1.If i plan for eMBA then i have to leave my job for which i am ready but at this momemt i am not aware to which college i can apply.
2.OR If i plan for part time MBA then also rotational shift will cause problem. As all my frndz who are in telecom sector are aware of it that it is not possible to get a 8am-5pm job as a network engineer.
3.OR I should Continue with my present job and and again try for eMBA after 1.5years as no. of colleges require 5+ years of Work exp.
Opinions and suggestions are welcome in overcoming my dilemma.
Thanks in Advance.

Online / Distance / Part Time MBA do not add much market value in today's world. It only adds a degree to mention in resume or cv.
MBA is everything about interaction with like-minded diversified people and faculty with sharing of one's experiences.
With Google and Wikis, I can get text on any subject at any time - law or medicine or even palmistry...same with management!
Hello puys, this is my first post in pg. :)
I appeared for cat 2010( only 73.69 %ile
). also appeared for snap(92.25
), nmat( only 194), mat(98.85 %ile
). No calls from fms and iift as well. with these scores i really don't see myself getting into a good b school(except for mat,but i am really not interested in taking admission in mat colleges). Also, i am a company secretary
(even though i have not completed my training yet,but i have passed all the levels). Now i am in a dilemma as to whether i should start working as a CS, gain some experience nd then appear for cat nd other such exams or should i give it a try again this year??? here are some details regarding my academics so far:
Class X (ICSE)- 81% (2005)
Class XII (ISC)- 89.5% (2007) :cheerio:
B.COM(Hons. in Finance)- 70.25% from Calcutta University (2010)
Company Secretaryship(ICSI)- 58.07%(Average of all three levels) (2010)
I always wanted to do an MBA but would it be advisable to waste another year just to prepare for these exams or should I work for 2 or 3 years as a CS and then think about MBA???
Puys please reply to this as i m really in need of some advice... 😃
i am a physiotherapist . finished with my studies and internship in 2010 from manipal university. got 67%( 3rd in uni) with 85%- xth (icse),73% ( cbse).. with 6 months of work experience in a physiotherapy clinic. i decided after much mulling around to get into a good mba coll and finally started my prep for cat 2010 in july. gave a whole lotta of other exams as well.. but was not selected in any. got a mediocre 87% in cat.. i dunt wanto take a break and try again next year considering the unpredictability of cat. but at the same time its my dream to get into iims..at the same time i also wonder if coll like tapmi, ifmr can give me the sorta exposure and experience to climb up the corporate ladder as the iims do.. im really in a quandary.. puys pls help out
hello guys
I am third year passed student in engg from pune university. I was not a good student therefore I had given up 1 year back due to constantly failing in most of my papers and pressure from my family members for not working hard enough. Currently I am pursuing B.com from distance learning and working in my uncle's textile business but after a lot of thought I am planning to quit my job and B.com studies to come back and complete my engg degree. I am very determined to complete it this time and perform well.
My friend (member here at PG) told me clear my doubts here regarding whether I would be eligible for CAT/Maharashta CET/XAT and other exams as I want to pursue an MBA degree. Currently I have an aggregate of 49.2% in 6 sems but I will surely jack this above 50% when I complete my degree. So will any of the exams allow me to sit with a slightly less percentage? Also will any good B school allow me to admission to a someone with a poor profile like me (will be completing engg in 7 years 😞 ) even if I score well.

Hi
First try to be realistic without being negative about your profile. Competition and the bar for the country's top MBA colleges is fairly high. However there are a lot of DECENT institutes with good placements where you can try your luck. With 50% you'll be eligible for all of the AICTE approved colleges, so do not worry about your eligibility. Try to work on other areas of your profile like extra curricular etc. Try not to fall into the what-if-i-fail jungle, try to focus on 50% and then MAT/CAT/XAT/MH-CET. Also try to break down your goal and focus on one thing at a time, as this might increase your efficiency.
Apologies if you found anything offensive. All the best.

Hi.
The first thing that you should ask yourself is what do you want out of an MBA and what specialization you want. If you want something related to your field that option is also available. Try doing some research before deciding on the institutes. IFMR has a finance program that is quant heavy. It might not be a good match to your profile. As far as climbing up the ladder is concerned, I believe performance is the real key and not the institute/tag.
