i m lil confused whether to go for mba or not...in july 2008 i resigned from infy (45 months total ex)...then at home...then again 6 months in bank( resigned)..but no work ex certificate..now i am at home..still confused...age is also getting on the higher side...dont know what to do...should i go for cat ( i know i can do it ) but...
Why don't you have the experience certificate from the companies? Is it from both Infy and the bank or from the bank alone. Ask for the experience certificate.
If you wish to do MBA then stop thinking and prepare for it. Otherwise join some company. Brush up your concepts and then any IT company will love to hire you.

It is your decision whether you want to change your branch or not. If you think you like the courses that will be taught in Production Engineering then stick with it. Yes, option of MBA is open for all.

I will say Non IT branches are a good option if you are considering MBA in long term. Because most of the MBA aspirants now a days are from IT industry and people coming from core industries do get preference over them.
But ultimately its your decision and it should be dependent upon what you like to study.

If you look at the class profile of top international b-schools such as Wharton, HBS, etc., you'll notice that engineers form a very small portion of the class. Most of the students are from business/humanities/economics backgrounds. My personal take is that being from a non-it background, particularly in the diversity starved Indian b-schools, will always be a plus. If an MBA is your ultimate aim, then by all means, go ahead and take up production engineering.
I am currently waiting for my joining. Both the date and place are not confirmed (what I know is that it will be after Diwali).
Thus, I have filled only CAT till now (C-Day: Nov. 2).
What should I do? Just wait, or fill the forms?
I suggest better fill up the forms for whatever colleges you are targeting for this year and the future. You will get some test practice in the process.
I am a B.E. I had given CET this yr and have got Rizvi. But i want to secure admsn in top 5 colleges. However the problem is that I am 29 yrs old. If i wait for another yr i will be 30yrs. By the time I pass out I will be 32yrs.I wanted to know How much impact does ones age has at the time of placements. I do have 3 yrs work ex but i dont think that wud count 4 much as I was working in a call centre. So that makes me a fresher. So I think a company wud prefer a 24yr old fresher rather than a 32yr old fresher. Sir, can u please help me out. I am very confused whether to take admsn or wait for a yr. What wud be your advice. Can any 1 please guide me?
Ok, i am no sir here but would like to post up on what you have asked. well yes its certain that a 24 year Old fresher would be preferred over a 32 year old fresher but incase you are able to come over the question why you have opted for Call Center over what you have done past four years in your graduation than it might just work out for you.
Secondly, its in India that people do MBA at a fresher level and not abroad so why don't you give a try for GMAT which may help you. similarly the other option available to you would a be Executive course ( although i am not so sure about the eligibility criterion )

I am not asking about college forms.
I wanna know whether I should fill: JMET, SNAP, XAT etc. or not??
This is Karthik, 2009 passed out but working in TCS for the past nine months. I am interested in doing MBA esply HR but I'm not too sure which way to choose. I'm not sure if I have to go for CAT or GMAT. Due to financial reasons I have chosen CAT, i'm working on it and I must tell you that i'm doing pretty good at it though not too good. Also working for certain HR specific entrances like TISS etc. Now what worries me the fear of failure. If I fail i'll end up wasting few years of my career. I wanna know if the path that i have chosen right or not? or is that any changes that I should make? or any additions that i should make?
Please help me out Puys as i'm really worried and tensed up due to this.

" Fear Can hold you prisoner, Hope can set you Free "

Bro , its good that you have a clear goal in your mind , You want to do MBA in HR , consider institutes like XLRI , MDI , SCMHRD, IMI apart from TISS offcourse but you need to score well to get an admission in these courses
Secondly "Fear of failure" is very important to keep complacency as far as possible, You already have a job and you are giving MBA entrances , so you can continue trying till you succeed :)
Work hard bro , m sure you will achieve success , even if it comes with a few failures , success becomes all the more sweeter :)
@ abhimukh19 and Hotculture: Thanks a lot guys. Your replies made me feel a power and confidence.
Right now i'm considering CAT as my only option but I'm just wondering if I have to keep GMAT also on the list. Moreover I'm also thinking about doing a distance course in MBA so that I can have some idea and exposure to the subject before I bump into the real serious full time course? Is it a good option or should i go otherwise. Please gimme suggestions people. . I'm really confused.

Hey bro for GMAT related queries you can post on the relevant threads, now regarding distance course before actually getting into full time 😃 , well i presume you are an engineering working in TCS , well did you do a correspondence in engineering before getting into full time course or did you work in some other company before TCS ,so as to have an hands on in an IT firm before joining TCS , bro MBA is lifetime experience and there is no dress rehreasal for it , you may want to check out the curriculum of the courses offered at various institutes and check out few books , if you want to explore the subjects other than that , i dont think you need to do anything else
PS: I was working in Infosys before joining IMI , and worked for 30months
Hii Puys, I am new to PG and I am presently working in a good IT company. But feeling frustrated after the initial 6 months. MBA is my dream and want to pursue from a good college(read IIMs). I am aiming for CAT 2011 as the last date for giving it this year has come close. I want to give CAT 2011 the best shot I possibly can, but I dont get much time to prepare because of the work schedule.
Could anyone tell me what strategy should I opt so that I can stand a chance?
Can anyone suggest which classroom course would be best in Chennai? I was planning to join TIME.
ALL Thread are closed only one is open double mba link you provided now how can i find my problem solution can anybody help me what to choose MBA , MCA OR MCS i am 2nd yrar bcs student from pune
Hi All, I have observed that lots of threads get started with topics like "help me" ,"please advise" etc etc and clutter up the forum. So i thought why not put up a thread where PGites can post their queries about their career and CAT dilemmas, advise and et al. For starters,i have identified lots of threads like it.Am pasting the links here,it will be great if Mods can merge these threads with this one and let this thread act as an repository. So guys post your queries and I am sure one or other senior PGites will respond.

To start with, if time is a serious concern then joining classroom course will not be such a good idea. Instead, try to source the material and practice questions and yes, do register for the mock tests. That is essential.
