As per rules it is enough that you clear all your papers within May 2011..that is your final semester.

There will no problem in appearing for GD/PI for any of the institutes...but be prepared for questions as some times they may grill you on your acads seeing your performance. 😃

I need your help..
Sorry for the long post but I needed to write all..
I had already posted this in one of the other forums but I think this is where it should be.
I graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 2008. Immediately after the completing my graduation in June, I joined an organization in which I was recruited as a Graduate Engineer Trainee(GET) through campus recruitment. I worked there uptill 12 months but somehow I was not interested in the profile offered so I called it a day. Then I started looking for the jobs I was interested in and meanwhile started preparing for the CAT. But just within the 15 days after leaving the job in the month of July 2009, I met with an accident and my both ideas suffered for 3 months. I recovered when a month was left for the CAT, but I was unable to utilize it fully(purely my mistake). Thus, the result was a poor show in the CAT and even jobs were not coming up. I kept on trying for jobs and simultaneously tried for Bank P.O. Cleared written tests in SBI Associates, SBI and Bank of Baroda. I could not make it to the final selection of SBI Associates but I am hopeful for the other two. Meanwhile I got offer from one of the two companies(offering jobs in my core competencies) I was interviewed in the month of July this year. I immediately took it up. Within 20 days of joining it, I got the offer from the other one which is fairly bigger than the former. So I left the former one and am joining the latter in the next week. The former company won't issue any certificate of my working there for 25 days. The company I am about to join is offering me the position of GET. Though it is quite logical as my prior work-ex was totally in a different field, I am in a fix as to how to make it count to the B-schools as I going to appear for various MBA exams this year.
Also I don't know how to present my two years after graduation to any good B-schools in a creditable manner.

Great buddy!! I liked your confidence when you left first company without having a job as you were not liking the profile. Be confident in what you did. Just think in a positive way how can you utilize this point. Prepare for counter-questions on profile, etc. What you have done is very few people will do, though we all think like that. Joining another company at the same post is also a tough decision. So, be confident. This shows your clarity about what job role you want and also clarity about future goals.

I have given you a general idea. Prepare on it. Hope all gets well.

Hello guys,

My lyf is in a mess n I m really looking for some guidance.

I completed a license course in the field of aircraft maintenance engg. in Dec 2007. Now the situation is that, in spite of having 2 years of exp(unpaid) and all possible additional qualification, i am unable to get a single call from any airlines , let alone a possibility of a job cause for which i presume is rampant corruption n nepotism. I donot have a source nor do i have the finances to pay bribe.

To become a graduate, i enrouolled for Btech under distance education scheme with JRNRV university, which happens to carry a not so gud reputation around.

Can anyone guide me what should be my approch to save my ass n get into top 25 buissness schools. where to apply n where not. Any foreign college. n will my previous qualification n quality of my college play a roll ( +ve or -ve) in selection.

To add,
my percentage of my qualification are as follows,
10th....76%
12th....62%
AME....78.34%
Grad... 68 %

Plz some 1 guide..

I think it won't be a issue if you try to get into a good B-school. You need to take the positives from your experience. Minus the cause that you think of not getting a job. It is too negative. Given your profile. It is good and quite different from regular work-ex which mostly include people who are mostly from IT. So, you stand a fair chance in getting selected in a B-school given to understand that you score good and perform well in GD/PI.

Your marks are good. 62% is not that bad that you think. 😉

All top B-Schools will give you a good exposure to general management skills and insight in to the business environment and you will also be able to build a network of contacts who will be beneficial in the longer run.

I would like to cite the example of E Sarathbabu, an IIM_A pass out who now runs the Food King Catering Services.

I would also suggest you to read the book 'Stay Hungry Stay Foolish' by Rashmi Bansal which showcases the journey of IIM_A Alumnis who took the plunge in to entrepreneurship.

You seem to pretty sure of your plan of owning a restaurant, which is good. An MBA from the top b-schools will indirectly help you, but the same can be learnt in a much better way by actually starting up. You could also try networking with people who have been in this business and understand what went right and what went wrong for them.

Hi PUYs

I am shalikram from Mumbai, currently pursuing PGDM from IES management college in Mumbai .I have heard about many industrial projects done by other Big B school students like IIM's apart form their summer internship programme . If any one can suggest me how shud I go abut searching or these projects it will be great..as it Will add on to my resume as well as my knowledge. I m planning to specialize in marketing.

@ vinz_007 and nkkd thanks..

Hi this is ram from Kolkata. This year I have completed my graduation with average marks of 79%. I have decided to go for my MBA in marketing, and among my first preference I have kept narsemonje, tapni, welenkar as to go with. Regarding the entrance exam , I am appearing for NMAT, MAHARASHTRA CET, CAT, MAT. My main query to you is that what is the cut off marks of NMAT & MAHARASHTRA CET in order to get though.. along with the total marks ( for example NMAT total marks 200, cut off 180etc). and another thing is that I have very poor academic record I have scored 66% in my class 10(x) & 57% in 12(xii). So am I eligible for these colleges .

Hi all,I am a regulatory writer with a top CRO at Mumbai with around 2 years of work experience. I am interested to be a health economist. Will anybody please help me to find out whether MBE of DU is a good program to be considered? How is it in terms of placement? Please help me....

Hello puys,
I had a query...dont know if this is the right place to post it but still if someone can help,it would be very useful..

I am a graduate in dentistry(B.D.S.-Bachelor of dental surgery)..I want to apply to master of hospital administration programme of TISS...

But i have heard from a few reliable sources that recruiters prefer medicine(M.B.B.S.) grads who have studied hospital management or hospital adminstration for management of hospitals as they have spent more than 5 yrs studying in a medical college affiliated to a big hospital and so they are better equipped to manage the task...

I know it is not proper to think of recruitment now,but in case that is the trend,i would be losing out...
Please help me if u have any knowledge regarding the matter

Thanks in advance...

Has anybody heard of e-Litmus PH test?

eLitmus :: One Aptitude Test for Many Freshers' Jobs | eLitmus.com

I just came across the name of this test while browsing the chetana's interview site CHETANASINTERVIEW

I saw some companies (not mass-recruiting IT cos but product based like McAffee, National Instruments etc.) on that site which required all applicants to have a valid e-litmus PH score.

After browsing the e-litmus site, got to know that they are a kind of placement agency and they conduct an aptitude test called PH (hiring potential) which is very similar to CAT, whose scores are accepted by numerous reputed IT-products and other non-IT technology companies.

They even provide us with overall and sectional %iles just like in CAT. The registered companies short list candidates based on overall cutoff and some cos might have sectional cutoffs too. One need not appear for any other apti tests other than the PH and they can directly apply for interview based on the PH score.

The exam fee is Rs.699 and I think there's no other charge for applying to the companies. One can take any number of attempts (the fee is for only 1 attempt, of course) and the exams are held about twice a month and in many cities.

Does it mean that a guy who's from a not-so-reputed college, where only IT cos come for recruitment, can get an equal opportunity for entry into product based tech cos, if he has a stellar %ile in eLitmus PH and good technical knowledge?

Otherwise its just another eye-wash.

Further, is there any extra benefit for taking the NASSCOM NAC-Tech exam other than not having to sit for apti tests for registered IT cos? Does it really help those who have below avg. grades ? Otherwise its pretty much useless to pay for a test when we can participate in any pooled/off/on campus recruitment drive free of cost.
