hi all........ well, i'm in final yr b.tech chem engg @NIT Calicut....... MuSigma n ZS ASSOCIATES r comin 4 campus soon.... MuSigam is offering Business Analyst's profile and ZS is offering Business Operation Associate profile..... which one will b a better option considring that I'm planning to do my MBA from ISB or abroad.....
I'm not quite sure you can quote it as a full time job. I've been a domain trader in the past and have sold domains for tens of thousands of dollars. However, I hardly worked on it more than 10 hours a week. Currently, I run an online business and freelance on the side. Together, I work on these for about 10-15 hours a week and make more than the average IIT grad would make. Yet, because I haven't incorporated, and don't even work part-time (i.e. 20 hours a week), I'm not sure if IIMs will consider it as 'work-ex'.
Of course, your experience in running an online business will give you a lot of brownie points in the actual interview.
well have u reached any interview of any iims and what u r saying,is it ur first hand exp. ....as a matter of fact, i was just thinking, lets say a hockey player, plays professional games for hardly 80 days in a yr, yet he makes a lot of money, so wudnt that count as job ex, after all one such player made it to the isb...what say....the problem is,i have no awareness of any entrepreneur kind who has made it to any iims so i am just cautious about that as well as wary of it
Please advise me.... I am fresher and as of now i have two offer(accenture and tcs) But the thing is i have not joining date from either of the two... but i have a fair idea that i will be getting joining for tcs by sept end or oct first week and in case of accenture i will be getting by dec 15(not sure though).... so now i am in dilemma which one to join...accenture or tcs... which is best among the two for a fresher?
so please guys i need your advice like how will be d future prospects in the above mentioned companies....
I'm currently pursuing my PGDM in Marketing/ Finance from SDMIMD and our placement season would be due in 1 months time...I'm a Electronics Engineer with no work ex... Can you advice me on the Job Profiles that would give me a Good Start to my career...
IF you want to get into Finance, then Research Analysts, Valuation Associates etc would be get profiles...however there are not much RA or VA profiles offered since they remain niche areas...
In any multinational bank, a relationship manager or a ops-manager would be a decent profile..
In Marketing, Sales Manager with a FMCG company would be a good profile since you can build on that profile and enter Branding..

Well you can appear for management entrance exams now itself.. but before joining the management colleges .. you should have cleared all exams ......
I am planning to give CAT/GMAT exam next year.Till that time I will be having around 7 years of work ex in IT Sector
Which of the two exams will be better for me. I want to do MBA only from India.
Please help me on this....
Thanks D
its actually pretty simple...in GMAT..i think you can opt for ISB (in India)... in CAT..there are so many good colleges which can help you.. so on the perspective of number of institutes you can apply to (in India)..you can prefer taking CAT
i am a BE mechanical engineer 2009 batch and took a years gap last year for preparing for the cat , eventually cat turned out a sour experience and made me very apathetic towards any other activity, meanwhile i thought of doing a job, but the gap proved a hurdle and i could not get any. As a keen mba aspirant i saw last year that many a institutes gave much importance to work experience, and there cut off was significantly low than that for freshers. the problem right now i'm facing is that i've bought the cat voucher, and filing for the application ,i came across the work exp section, and it even counts as low as a month's work ex, i left it then and there.. now i;m in a fix, as my friend is sure he'll get me work ex certificates for me, so shall i consider for a fake work ex as for a month? pls guys help me out , as i've heard that a gap of more than a year is seriously considered bad. PLS the guys who r in any mba insti , pls help me out, how much the insti dig into our work profile.. iwant realistic approach and pls dont go for idealistic approach, as i've come across many guys going by this approach and i want experienced guys pls guide me, as it's my second time........
hi i would like to ask sum1 who is doin an mba.. what is life at mba colleges ..how is d course study..is it tuff..r d finance subjects tuff ....
my frnd, is a sc, and got thru a gud collg.but she is concerned about , if she will b able 2 cope in d collg,,coz her marks in r low..so she lacks self confidence..if she wil b able 2 cope up or not.

Well...avoid getting into all these serious unethical things....and don't think that the guy on the other side of chair are fool enough that you won't be caught!! My tone may be a bit harsh but then this, exactly is the reality dude!! If you're really into the GD/PI of a good college and if your luck is not that great, rest be assured that the interviewer will rip-apart you on your work-ex thing and all other stuff...you can always challenge me by giving some examples where candidates were never asked about their work profile and other stuff but then chances of happening this is very less... Moreover its not the case that these MBA colleges hate freshers....NO!!:w00t: If you really perform well enough in written and during the GD/PI stage, rest be assured that these top colleges(read IIMs/XLRI/FMS/IIFT etc) would be more than happy to select you!!...so stop thinking about these secondary issues right now and focus only on one thing---CAT!! best of luck from my side!!

Well...Life at MBA college can be tough,tiresome,sleep-deprived,fun,blissful,scary and many more....In a nutshell ,there are many adjectives which you could literally use for the life at any MBA college... you'll meet some of the best brains of the industry, some of the excellent guys as your batch-mate. First of all tell your friend to make her/his mind clear of the fear...I mean he/she will find a lot of fellow class mates who could really help him out to do well in academics and all other activities....In a b-school majority of learning is through the batch mates and not by the faculty...so I don't see any reason why your friend can't be able to cope up with the hectic MBA life!!
Hi, I'm an electrical engineer working in the paper manufacturing industry for the past 2 and a half years. I dont want to continue in this industry cuz i feel that my skills are being wasted here; I'm more of a people person, I love traveling and interacting with people, learning from their experiences, visiting new places, learning about different cultures and above all, I love to be in an environment where I can innovate, create something new and help others. I dont get to do any of that here and my job is boring and monotonous. I would like to go for an MBA but i cannot decide what industry and job profile i should focus on. I have good communication skills, good organizational skills and I'm able to influence people and establish rapport with almost anyone. Will an MBA in IB be a good option for me? Or should i focus towards marketing or general MBA? Thanks
I think more than MBA you need to choose the field of your choice. Find out the job in the field of your interest. Jobs after MBA can be as monotonous and innovation-killing like the one you are in.
Actually, the issue that you are facing is not yours alone. Many people in every field think that they can do better than what they are currently doing. They go for MBA, get a new job with new profile and after few months start cribbing again. So MBA is not a solution.
hello i m an engineering graduate fresher with a very diverse academic background.i want to knw whether will be able to get a call from iims or i hav any chance in any other prestigious colleges. kindly suggest me.

Hello Guys!! I apperciate your patience if you can go through below mentioned details and ans my questions accordingly My Backround: Educational: 10th CBSE Board 60%---- Year-2000 12th(PCM) CBSE Board 73%---- Year-2002 After that from 2002 to 2004 i prepared for IIT ..unfortunatley could nt get into any of good Engg.colleges. DiD B.E.(CSE) from ITM Gurgaon(a non descriptive college) --71.45%--Year 2008 --got job from campus(3 Lac Per Annum) Professional Experience: 1.Started my career with Indian based IT MNC(Persistent System Ltd , Pune)in Sept 2008 as Software Engineer in the ERP(Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009) 2.Joined Accenture on 16th Aug 2010 in the same domain(Dynamics AX) with salary 6.2Lac per annum My Long Term Goal: 1.To become an entreprenur so that i can create wealth , earn fame and people should know me becaz of my work i.e. i can affect people day today life in positive way. 2.Also so that i can leave behind something for my next generation to come. My Role Model: 1.Google Guy's i.e Larry Page and Sergey Brin. I am very much inspired by their growth , nature of work , companies enviornment.I want to do something similer in my life. 2.I don't know why Indian I.T. Companies struggle for so many years and still they can not match the companies like Google in their nature of Work(Like Google Map etc.) , pay packages etc..so many to list. What Inspire me : Technical(Preferably computers ) Invention like some websites pagalguy, Orkut , Facebook , Youtube , Email(By Sabir Bhatia) etc..In which You have money , fame i.e. u affect general people day today life .. or any other similer things Family Background: I belong to average(financially) family. For the first 2 years of my employment i almost paid my education loan(for B.E.--4Lac almost) What i dont Like: Work in which you have no recognition like we do in most of I.T. comapnies ..Nobody knows you..At the end of day u r part of crowd(company employee strength) My Recent Situations: Last year(April--2009) i was in dilema regarding my career i.e. to do Mtech or MBA or do something on my own in order to realize my long term goal.. But after having some firm discussion with few seniors in my company , i planned to write Gate 2010(CSE) and got 96 %centile ..Bt could nt get into any of IIT even nt into NITIE Mumbai(PGDIE)as there were stiff competition ..especially that year ..becaz of recession ..so did not took admission in any other college..As this time (as compare to before B.E. admission)I want to take post gradute degree from any of premire instutute..not from Non Descriptive college.. My Current Dilema: Now as i have changed my job and got good hike so i am afraid about Mtech i.e. is it Logical to do Mtech(CSE--From IIT) after almost 3 year work ex experince+Good Salary and i come to know from some Mtech people that Max. salry package that one can get even from Best Mtech College(say IIT Bombay for CSE) is 7-8 lacks which i can get normally if i change company after 2 years. Now when i think in terms of my experince value + Package MBA Sounds good But again i need to take heavy loan(10-12 lacks) even if get into best MBA college(say IIMA) and then need to repay on my own which i feel little bit burden for me. Also MBA Degree can put me completely Off track from Technical side + more imp. thing is that how can MBA help me in realizing long term goal?? Also with this acad and work ex. is it possible for me to get into IIM?? if i manage to score high in CAT and does MBA help an ERP domain person like ? Also I heard that PGDIE(from NITIE Mumbai) is good course as far as carrer option is concerned as it provides good job placement for experienced candidate (they r at advantge as compare to fresher which is not the case in Mtech) also it course fee is pretty less(1-2 Lakh) But for this i need High Gate score... so is it advisable to give Gate-2011 for just pgdie(from Nitie)?? as now i am bit less intersted in Mtech(from IIT) due to reason mentioned above.
Also have your opinion about MS from US ..How does it can help me in realizing my long term goa?l ..Can i get that kind of enviornement there i.e. to realize my long term goal ? Also i think it can be bit expensive too.. Any other career guidance ..please go ahead .. Please help me to come out of this ..

What is the diversity in your academic background?
Yes, you can get into IIMs or any other B-School of repute. It will depend on your preparation and how you handle the question regarding GAP of 5 years between XII and Graduation in interview. Prepare well!!

Hi,
I am of the opinion that if you go for MTech in Engg. then you should go for PhD also. Why waste your MTech degree for another job. This way you will be able to enter a good company like Google and also fulfill your dream.
I don't think MTech or ME alone will help if you want to work in technical field and want work of R&D; in companies of the kind of Google, etc.
So, if you are planning for a career in technical field and later want to leverage it for starting out your own venture then MTech (or ME) + PhD should be a good option.
