Personal/Career/CAT-job Dilemma Queries : A Repository

Hi...
I am a B.Sc life sc grad(2009). I want to build up my profile so somebody suggested me of doing a diploma in finance from ifbi-niit.. I want to know is it worth to join this course or not?

Please do not post the same question in multiple threads. I have tried to answer your question in Certifications for profile building

Seniors .....please help....
My problem is that i got an year back in 3rd yr of engineering.(BE E&E;)
Can i appear for CAT and OMETs after i clear my backlogs???
If yes, then how much will i be at a disadvantage due to this in the interview???
Pls reply..I am shattered. And i need some kind of hope to get on with my studies. But please be honest and straightforward with your answers.
I know IIMs are out of the question .What about others???

hi i am an business economics graduate from DU...... i am applying in different companies for research jobs.... so do we need a cover letter with our CV to get noticed????

i have completed Btech in CSE
i have placement offer from TCS and CSC
I have to choose one of them
Tcs=3.15/yr
CSC=3 in training and 3.5/3.75 after training

i wan to know does in CAT do the admission panel looks on pay slips for getting you more points or the profile

If its profile too..weather for the 2 mentioned companies which one is more favored by MBA admission panel

The interview panel doesn't favor one company over the other .... and even your pay slips do not have much credence.....They take the pay slips to compute the average incoming salary and average outgoing salary for a particular batch ....

Yes you can appear as long as you meet the eligibility criteria regarding total marks secured etc....

They might question you in the interview and you've to come up with a justification for your performance.....

plzz sumone help.are these 1 year diplomas in finance helpful in getting an entry level job infinance?i am interested in this pgdf because it also covers the cfa topic n m looking forward to take cfa test.but i need a job after 1 year coz i want to gain quality work ex.
so which option is better?pursuing mba from a low grade b-school or pursuing this 1 yr pgdf n later on ex-mba/mba correspondence after gaining some work ex?
plz help its urgent.

surely agreed
but this is also a blatant truth that tcs+infy fresh GET consists of 50% of ppl who appear for CAT every year

do i get a chance to score over them if i have wrk ex from CSC??

PS:No offences intended

Nopes working for CSC will not get you any kind of an edge.. what might give you an edge could be the profile in which you work in these companies and not the companies itself...

Hi..
Does the status of the company you work in make any difference int he outcome of the interview or the GD for that matter.Suppose you are working in a different field other than the normal software field,is there any guarantee or a high percentage chance that you will be selected.

Hi,

Status of the company does not matter in GDPI Phase.... questions will hover around your work experience and it is upto you what difference you create in your interview in comparison to the interview of an IT guy. In short, it does not guarantee or assure to high percentage that you will be selected. What assures selection is the performance in GDPI!

However, non IT experience can be slightly helpful once you are in B-School and sit for placements as it gives something different in your CV from rest of the crowd. Though, here also, it does not guarantee that you will be placed before IT guy. Reason being all things are dependent on the way you carry your interview ahead and not just on background of your company.

I would differ a bit with Vision. Since there are so many people from IT background, people from different background/work experience MAY have an advantage, since all B-schools want diversity in their batch. But yes, even they would have to show their competence in the GD/PI rounds, but panelists might be a tad lenient with them.

Should I mention my work ex in CAT/other MBA exam application forms as 38 months or 32 months (excluding those 6 months).

What is the verification process in IIMs/Other B-Schools

Thanks

At initial stage, only joining letter and salary slip of last month suffice as proof of work ex. But, once you join college, then you need to have work ex ceritificate or relieving letter from the relevant companies which you mentioned while applying.

I would suggest to mention only that duration for which you have relevant proof.

Hope this helps,
