hi everyone...
m joining tcs on 30th sep.... can anyone tell me how can i get delhi, noida or gurgaon centers after ilp...... m from north and hence wanna get one of these branches...
Could send you guys to even J&k; where we have GOI projects....there isn't muh of a choice as far as initial posting is concerned....every 2 months or so each of the DCs send resource requests to the Training centre via MATC(Manpower allocation Task Committee)......so the batch that joins at that time will be given options based on that.....
in 2003, my previous batch was given such an option(out of a class strength of 32 or so)...
..calcutta 11,chennai 10,bangalore 2,around 6 delhi and ahmedabad....read 0 for mumbai and seepz....
just after 18 days my batch's turn came....it was like this....12 mumabi & seepz,1 delhi,6 bangalore and 13 chennai....
bongla guys had great fun....
so it all depends on where TCS wants to put up its army.....
But once you complete around 6 months and you have valid reasons...they will surely give you a transfer...
So dont worry too much about initial postings.......
go and enjoy like hell in trivandrum......
And dont worry anything about facilities over there...tcs takes care of you like small children.....that is one way bad also....its a tcs school down there....

I am from ECE and a 2005 pass out from Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad. Was recruited by TCS in JUNE 2004:smile: and have been asked to report at CMC center, Gachibowli. As I am a Hyderabad Localite, Its not a problem for me to locate the place....
I want you people to help me with the pre requisites. I am preparing for Java by myself, and also UNIX, dunno where I am heading to..
If there is anyone who is joining TCS Hyderabad on the above said date, please get in touch with me.. pm me for my mail id...

u don need to worry.. There wont be any kind of discretion as you think.. Training will be very cool.. they say ILP is a two month paid vacation..
Of course there will be difference in salary pacakages if some are from reputed institutes lik IIT's and NIT's.. But i,ve heard that there wont be any distinction in terms of project allocation...

I was told that we wil b sent offer letter by this week but i dint get yet. can anyone tel after how many days wil we b able to join after geting offer leter. we were told that the training wil be in Trivandrum itself.:grab:

Don't worry about joining letter .. it wud be sent to you within 3 weeks time ... about ur joining in Trivandrum .. I don't think it wud be before Mid November and they send their letters normally more than a month earlier to the candidates.
Perhaps, just pray that even after getting ur letter ... ur joining doesm't get delayed .. cuz this is their old habit .. as they did wid few students joining Calcutta this t and their joining is now made to Nov in Hyderabad.
Just enjoy ur present work ... and wait for the letter.

I have got placed this yr & will join TCS in 2006.. I want to know about BTech project in TCS..
Our college placement department asked us to give our name to them who wants to do final yr project with TCS.. but I hav some basic doubts about this..
How will it help me in my career in TCS?
Is it possible to choose my center of project..(i.e. if i m from ahmedabad then can i do my project with TCS Delhi?
How can I apply 4 the above?

Well TCS has posted me in Chennai....Dont know in which office i will be put in. Lets see... Maybe i will get a chance to meet apna mod and gadoos there... swatantre and maverick... u listening........
I read a lot of posts on ILP.
ILP is just a paid holiday. That too at Gachi Bowli,Hyd its sheer fun !!
Dont worry guys, Just enjooy.
TCS doesnt expect u to learn all the fundu Data Structures and C++ programming, they just expect you to get used to the environment, learn about thr company in these 2 months.
The exams mid-term is quite important. It does affect ur allocation.
But again after u get allocated, u can site seroius personal problems and escape to ur place.
Moreover, am an ex-TCSer, found the trainig qujite enjoyable. Made a lot of friends. And many a guys found their would-be life partners in ILP, that is a tradition.
The final exams are just an eye wash, since u get a 2 rating however bad u perform.
Believe me, the ILP ratings dont count towards ur year-end rating. Thats a different story altogether.

welcome to tcs. they give u arnd 15 days after the offer letter.
the whole procedure takes some time. so u gonna have ur training in triv have a nice time!!.
. as people have said b4. it is indeed a paid holiday.:) .

My ILP starts at Bhubaneswar on 31 OCt. Can anyone who has had his ILP at Bhubaneswar please guide me on the following :
1. How is the schedule like?
2. How easy/difficult is it for a non-CS/IT chap having no real exposure to programming to cope with the ILP ? What level of initial preparation is REALLY recommended ?
3. Where and on what basis are people normally posted after the ILP?
4. How's the acco. and food like? Are ppl put up in KIIT hostels or in hotels ?
