Official Quant thread for CAT 2013

@vbhvgupta The question is incorrect!
Its simply impossible!
BHuvan himself completes the work in 18 days!
He is joined by two other guys!
Its inconceivable to think that they would take more than 18 days!
still if you consider 72 units of work!
Bhu,BHe,Bha would do 4,3,2 units respctivly each day!
Now if 72 units is equally divided 24 units each..
Bhu,Bhe,Bha would need 6,8,12 days to finish the work!
Now the case of them taking 26 days is possible iff they dont work together..
i.e they are working alternately..

In triangle ABC, sides AB, AC and BC are extended till Q,P and R such that AC=AP, BC=CR and AB=BQ. It is known that the area of triangle ABC is 10 sq. cm.
Find area of PQR.
a 40
b 70
c 80
d 90

(attached:figure)
please show your approach as well
70
Join PB QC and AR
now in triangle AQC
EB is the median
hence area ABC= area QBC=10
similarly
area APB=area ARE=10
now in triangle PQA
PB is the median
area PAB= area QPB=10
similarly
area PAR=area QER=10
total 70 units

seems legitimate to me. bus sahi time pe stike karna chahiye
stupid question, AR is a straight line

All the water in a big tank in A is emptied into two smaller tanks B and C. The Volume of water in C is 100/3% of that in A. If 300 litres of water, which had gone into B had instead gone into C, B would 50% more water than C. What was the Volume of water in A?

another simple one
