bro he is also paying principal in equal installments every year so that will change principal for every year.. what i think!!!

going by this way..

i got 4 year!!!

whats the answer vbhvgupta???

the case you r talking about will hold true if the interest is compounded annually. here, we are given only interest. so, we assume that the question asks about simple interest. and in simple iterest, the initial amount matters.

ans is 14 years.

sorry ankit but what i think is even if the amount is repaid then the principal will get changed every year of same value decrement!!

Let the cost price be CPWe have successive changes of +x% and then -x% So effective change = - x^2/100 %So CP decreses by x^2/100i.e. (x^2/100)CP = 180--(i)So Cost price now is (1-x^2/100)CPNow it is done once againSo x^2/100((1-x^2/100)CP = 153Now, Using (i) we get (1-x^2/100)*180 = 153=> x^2 = 15From (i) we get CP=1200
i think this approach is a bit easy......
it is increased by x % and then decreased by x % so it would be defnitely less by some y %.let us assume mr X gave discount of y % has given a discount of y % on p => y%(p)=180 and a discount of y %(p-180)= 153(as same up down cycle he mentioned)
p/(p-180)

= 180/153 =>by comp and dividendo 2p-180/180 = 333/27 and p = 1200

Q2
y=xnr/100
z=ynr/100
So zx=y^2 (d)
@vbhvgupta said:
Q2
y^2 = z. x

Correct : D

Suppose the rate is reduced after x years.

Now, The total interest is Rs. 270900/-

(180000 * 7.5 * x / 100 ) + ( 180000 * 7 * ( 21- x ) / 100 ) = 270900

0.5 x = 3.5

x = 7 years.

No. of years he paid at reduced interest = 21 - 7 = 14 years.

but he is also paying some principal in EYI..so wouldnt principal change per year??

B is the answer i got!!!

Thats wat I was not getting....but ans given is 14 years

x is a set of 3 digit divisors which give same remainder when it divides 2 numbers 12714 and 13914.what is the maximum possible number of elements in x

interest is 3% in 1st case and 12% in 2nd, difference is of 3 half-years... so

3*t/100 = 12*(t-3)/100
t = 4 half years
so 12*P/100 + P = 4704 --> P = 4200

Lets ask some senior puy for clarification!!!

because i feel if he is paying it should get reduced!!
