X be the rate of interest for first four years

Total interest =180 rs

(360*x*4)/100+(360*5*6)/100 =180
find x
x=5%

present ages: father = x , son = y if the father was as old as his son is now , say a yrs ago .then , x-a=y ... (i) and x-a = (y-a) ... (ii)solving , we find a = 4y -x put the value of a in eqn (i)x/y=7/4 or in this case y/x = 4/7

bro please explain the bold part

@hatemonger plz provide solution.

The sum of the present ages of a father and his son is 99 years. When the father was as old as hisson is now, his age was four times the age of the son at that time. The ratio of the present ages ofthe son and the father is???? @The_Loser ye bna do

1st eq quite easy.
F + S = 99---- (1)

problem is with 2nd eqation.

this S = 4[ 2S - F] ---- (2)
F = 7S/4

Now how come this 2nd equation??
lets take an example of 25 & 20 ( father & son's age)
ques says When the father was as old as his son is now
so father's age = 20

to find son's age at that time
{20 - (25-20)}

we simply subtracted {S -(F-S)} = 2S - F

from here F = 7S/4

Put that in eq 1
F/S = 7/ 4

4:7?

x = father's present age
y = son's present age

x + y = 99
x - T = y
(x - T) = 4(y - T)
y = 4y - 4T
4T = 3y
y = 4T/3
so x = 7T/3
so ratio ----> x/y = 7T/3/4T/3 = 7/4 or 4/7

hey even i m also gettin it 128 but dnt u thnk they are askin abt less than 258 so we have to take aalll cases less than 258 i thnk so
@hatemonger Thanks
@hatemonger bhai last 5 yrs k liye pehle k 4yrs ka amount nahi lena hai ? i mean u took the initial principle for the last 5 yrs too. a bit confused. but don't we have to change the principle for the last 5 yrs ?

Thanks
ok. i thought that when the rate of interest changes we need to change the principle for the 2nd term ..
