A set of data consists of the following 5 numbers: 0,2,4,6, and 8. Which two numbers, if added to create a set of 7 numbers, will result in a new standard deviation that is close to the standard deviation for the original 5 numbers? (A) -1 and 9 (B) 4 and 4 (C) 3 and 5 (D) 2 and 6 (E) 0 and 8
Mean of the 5 numbers given = 4
S.D = 2_/2

So the SD of the new series should be close to the value of 2_/2 or _/(40/5) or _/(56/7)..for 7 numbers
With option A => SD = root(90/7)
option B gives SD root(40/7)
option C gives SD root(42/7)
option D gives SD root(48/7)
option E gives SD root(72/7)

So option D is closest to the given value

OABC is a square where O is the origin and AB = 1. Consider the set of points S = {(xi, yi)} in the square such that xi + yi ≤ 1. Let P (x1, y1) and Q (x2, y2) be two such points. Two operations addition (+) and multiplication (.) on S are defined as P + Q = (x1 + x2 – x1 x2, y1y2) P.Q = (x1x2, y1 + y2 – y1 y2)1)For a very large number n, Pn+ Qn is(1) close to (0, 0) (2) close to (1,0) (3) close to (0, 1) (4) any point in the region x + y (5) None of the above(pn +qn refers to p^n +q^n btw )For a very large number n, nP + nQ is(1) close to (0, 0) (2) close to (1,0) (3) close to (0, 1) (4) Any point in the region x + y (5) None of the above

Tough to write it..so providing the link here

DS Question:

Is √(x-3)² = (3-x)

1. x is not equal to 3
2. -x|x| > 0
@tarun.g said:
OA is statement 2.can anyone please explain the solution in detail including how to solve the equation √(x-3)² = (3-x)

DS Question:Is √(x-3)² = (3-x)1. x is not equal to 32. -x|x| > 0
1st is not a enough to answer because x=2,1 k liye equal aur x=......4,5,6,-1,-2,-3....... k liye not equal So 1 st is not enough.
2 nd basically hume sirf -ve numbers put karne ko keh raha h to 0,1,2,3 to nahi rakh sakte sirf -ve rakh sate h. un sab k liye not equal ayga. So OA is only 2.

|x-3|=3-x .. x=3
so is there only 1 solution for this equation?

no...

no...
thats what i am not getting, could you please explain the whole range of solutions and then how do we get a unique solution using statement 2

ques is not abt unique soln...ques is the equation valid or not... statement 2 says equation is valid... from statement 1 we cannot determine eqn valid or not...

ok got it now, thanks man

plz tell me ur approach(I don't have the OA)

Find the relation between speed of a vehicle and is weight... Given :-

w=27 tonnes and s = 5m/s and w = 8 tonnes for s= 20/9 m/sec?

Pls share he approach as well...

this thread is not for such questions .... Better search it in google 😃
How many of the following numbers can be expressed as a product of 4 natural numbers in arithmetic progression, of which exactly 3 are in geometric progression? The numbers are 384, 1944, 945, 15000.
-1^2 + 2^2 - 3^2 + 4^2 - 5^2 + 6^2 ... - 17^2 + 18^2 =

Equal ayega :-/
I was confused whether square roots can be negative or not :-/
