assuming exit is east:
prob for those people to say east = [2/3*3/4 + 1/3*0]^2 = 1/4

assuming exit is west:
prob for people to say east = [ 2/3 * 1/4 + 1/3*1 ]^2 = 1/4

so the reqd = (1/4)/(1/4+1/4) = 1/2....

is this correct....?

@soumitrabengeri@CBZ123so to solve questions like these we will have to remember triplets(that form right angled triangle)? Also is there any other way to solve it,if we don't know the triplets?One more doubt is if i drop a altitude from a vertex to other side, will it divide any triangle into two right angled traingles ?
slightly diff:
perimeter = 80 =>semiperimeter = 40
and sides have to be 16, 30, 80-(16+30) = 34
using that big heron's formula to find the area = rt [ 40* (40-16) * (40-30) * (40-34) ] = 240
and area can also be 1/2 * base * height = 1/2 * 34 * h

equating these 2, u get height = 240/17

sorry for the late reply..was watching the match
Used the same method as @shadowwarrior
DS Question:

Is ˆš(x-3) ˛ = (3-x)

1. x is not equal to 3
2. -x|x| > 0

Can someone also explain how to solve the equation given to find values of x

@tarun.g -both a and b can individually answer it
@tarun.g Option two gives the answer alone. For these type of Questions, take the two conditions given one by one and try to solve. The answer can be both in the form of yes and no. Both can also solve the problem alone or taken together.

If even taking together doesn't solves the problem, then neither of the options solve the problem.

Hope this helps :)

if 0

(A) both 0
(B) imaginary
(C) Real and both positive
(D) Real and both negative
(E) Real and opposite sign.

Please justify whatever your answer is.

i will assume that the question meant 0

discriminant = 16 - 4*(1-p)*p = 16 - (4p-4p^2) = 4*(p^2) - 4p + 16 = 4*(p^2 - p + 4) which is always +ve....since disc > 0, roots are real

now product of roots = p/(1-p) which again is +ve.....both are of the same sign

sum of roots = 4/(p-1) which is -ve

so roots are real and both are -ve...(D)..........correct...?

DS Question:Is ˆš(x-3) ˛ = (3-x)1. x is not equal to 32. -x|x| > 0Can someone also explain how to solve the equation given to find values of x
only statement 2 can answer
OABC is a square where O is the origin and AB = 1. Consider the set of points S = {(xi, yi)} in the square such that xi + yi ≤ 1. Let P (x1, y1) and Q (x2, y2) be two such points. Two operations addition (+) and multiplication (.) on S are defined as P + Q = (x1 + x2 – x1 x2, y1y2) P.Q = (x1x2, y1 + y2 – y1 y2)

1)For a very large number n, Pn+ Qn is
(1) close to (0, 0) (2) close to (1,0) (3) close to (0, 1) (4) any point in the region x + y (pn +qn refers to p^n +q^n btw )

For a very large number n, nP + nQ is
(1) close to (0, 0) (2) close to (1,0) (3) close to (0, 1) (4) Any point in the region x + y

OA is statement 2.

can anyone please explain the solution in detail including how to solve the equation √(x-3)² = (3-x)
E is a collection of four odd integers and the greatest difference between any two integers in E is 4. The standard deviation of E must be one of how many numbers?
(A) 3
(B) 4
(C) 5
(D) 6
(E) 7
A set of data consists of the following 5 numbers: 0,2,4,6, and 8. Which two numbers, if added to create a set of 7 numbers, will result in a new standard deviation that is close to the standard deviation for the original 5 numbers?
(A) -1 and 9
(B) 4 and 4
(C) 3 and 5
(D) 2 and 6
(E) 0 and 8

|x-3|=3-x .. x=3
