Two poles of height 2 meters and 3 meters, are 5 meters apart. The height of the point of intersection of the lines joining the top of each poles to the foot of the opposite pole is,
@gnehagarg : Yes , but you are missing the cases for other persons - total possibilities is 7C2*7C1*6*5*4*3*2

1.2m?

1.2
use basic formula
let height of first pole be a, and that of second pole be b
required height= ab/(a+b)

I think you should get some sleep :P
x=100, y=101, z=300
x+y+z=501

501.. ; x= 100 ; z=300 ; y = 101
The digits 1, 2, 3, ...., 9 are written in random order to form a nine-digit number. Find the probability that this number is divisible by 11.

ha wahi to... it is used to derive this formula.
1.)In each of the following questions a number series is given. After the series, below it, a number is given followed by (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e). You have to complete the series starting with the given number following the sequence for the given series. Then answer the questions given below it.
18 22 38 74
121 (a) (b) (c) (d) (e)
Which of the following numbers will come in place of c?

Which of the following numbers will come in place of c?
2.)If the lengths of the chords intercepted by the circle + 2gx + 2fy = 0 from the coordinates axes be 10 and 24 respectively, then the radius of the circle is?
3)Out of 3n consecutive integers, three are selected at random. Find the chance that their sum is divisible by 3.?

4!.5!/9!=1/126?

yaar mene derive kar rakha hai. u check it once again

even places arrangement =1,5,6,7,9=5!
Odd places arrangement= 2,3,4,8=4!
=> required probability=4!*5!/9!

Similar triangle would also give the same result. I did it using similar triangle.

let the sum of odd place digits=e
sum of even place digits=o
e+o=1+2+3...9=45
o-e can be 0, 11,22,33,44 etc for the divisibility of 11
e-o cannot be even as e+o is odd
=> o-e=-11, 11 or 33
for first case, o=28, e=17
for second case, o=17, e=28
for third case, e=6, o=39 (again not possible)
e=17 can be made in following ways:
1, 2, 6, 8
1, 2, 5, 9
1, 3, 4, 9
1, 3, 5, 8
1, 3, 6, 7
1, 4, 5, 7
2, 3, 5, 7
2, 3, 4, 8
2, 4, 5, 6
e=28 can be made in following ways:
5, 6, 8, 9
4, 7, 8, 9
So, a total number of 11*4!*5!/9!=11/126 ways
there has to be some short way

2 taps A and B can fill a tank in 20 hrs and 30 hrs respectively.Both were opened together and just when the tank should have been full it was noticed that an emptying pipe was also open. The emptying pipe was then closed and it took 6 hrs more to fill the tank. In how much time emptying pipe empties the full tank.
