A mixture of 729 ml contains milk and water in the ratio 7 : 2... How much more water is added to get a new mixture containing milk and water in the ratio 7:3??
Solution as given in my module:
The volume of the solution is 10/9 times the original volume... Hence , if the original volume is 729 ml, the new volume is 810 ml... the increase is due to the addition of 81 ml of water..
(Hint: the factor 10/9 is the ratio of 7/9 and 7/10 which are the average milk content in the initial and the final mixtures...
