2nd try- where is mandatory disclosure doc frm nitie
and I am waitlisted in NITIE and got thru IMT-G finance
NITIE or IMT which is better
Guess, U need to get in touch with the college officials for your "Mandatory Disclosure" stuff. You can get the concerned person details from the college Website. By the way I have not seen NITIE harassing any student or have come to know of any such incident in my life time...
Comparisons is strictly not allowed on PG... At least I won't like it to happen on NITIE's thread... You can talk to people senior to you regd. the courses/faculty/placements of various colleges and accordingly decide...
Hi, I am waitlisted @ no.2 for PGDITM. As per last 2 yrs trends I believe I have decent chance. @koolbuddy you mentioned- People do take up certifications like CFA/CFM/FRM. Are PGDITM ppl also allowed take up these certifications ? Ashish Pls reply. I am asking this as After working in IT for more than 3 yrs I am looking for a programme which would help me enhance my knowledge of other functions like Fin/Marketing. Question became more relevant for me after converting IMT-G(Full time). I am more inclined towards NITIE..frankly just b'coz of its name.. My questions are concerning more abt opportunities for diverse knowledge, profiles and value addition than abt placements. Seniors...asking opinions from all of you..tat would help me.. I know all these is relevant only if I get final call frm NITIE...still trying to clear some air.. I hope you'll understand my confusion.
Thanks Ajit
Hi Rahul,
People do take up certifications like CFA/CFM/FRM and the likes to add that extra mileage to their CVs... This is really helpful in getting them the kind of profiles they look forward to...!! Typically, these certifications are of 1 year each... And people start looking into these from January onwards...
Don't mind but you are very much incorrect when you say that NITIE does not have Full Time faculties...!! Who told you that...?! Just refer to the nitie.edu website and browse through... You will be pleasantly surprised to see the kind of Profs we have... :) As a supporting fact, have a look at this: http://www.aoef.org/papers/2003/venkateshwarlu.pdf This is just one of so many achievements... ( AoEF or Academy of Entrepreneurial Finance happens to be a premier academic organization dedicated to the ever-growing field of entrepreneurial and small business finance. Its based out of California. )
The companies visiting us are themselves the testimonials of the kind of prowess that we engineers possess in the field of finance. These include biggies like LB, JPMC, AMEX, CitiBank, HSBC, GE Com Fin, StanC, ICICI and so many others...!! You have no dearth of Fin companies visiting us, and trust me, the profiles/package being offered are at par with that of any other TOP B-School. NITIE has been consciously trying and working hard to get into the Premier League of B-Schools known for Finance while maintaining its supremacy in SCM/Ops. We are very much on track and are almost there... :)
Students of PGDITM do certifications courses which help them in better understanding of functions like Finance, Marketing, SCM, etc. This goes pretty well with the motive of this program which you already aware of. People have taken up certifications like CFA, NCFM, DIBF (Internation Banking and Finance), DBT (Banking Technology), DTRM (Technology and Risk Management), CPIM (Inventory Management), CSCP (Supply Chain), PMP (Project Management), etc. These certifications are taken as part of extra curriculars purely on the interest of the students. The institute is known for its faculty strength. PGDITM students are taught general management subjects along with other program's students. There is no dearth of consultancy assignments and projects which are undertaken by the faculty members. Students do get involve in some of these assignments which serves a very good platform for learnings in various fields. People get good flavour of all functions. With regards to your getting call from other institutes, I am not sure if they offer specialized program for IT as one you have applied for here. After 3 years of rich experience in IT, anyone would be naturally inclined in building on one's experience and I presume that this is not an area of concern for you. I think this answer must have dispelled all your doubts. If in case nots, you can send a mail to my personal id.

Still any queries, do come forward...
Cheers,
Hi, I think u got me wrong. I was just asking coz i heard that every institute has to keep mandatory disclosure. i dont know why u thought of harassing as a word :)
Hi Ashish.. Thanks a ton for this valuable information and clearing my doubts. Time and again I feel that you guys are just amazing..Undoubtedly this one is the best thread on PG I have come across and that's because of all you seniors..Have seen you ppl helping aspirants empathetically during GD/PI process and now giving them such a detailed insight abt NITIE..great job..
Abt certifications..I have not heard abt any other institute offering such certifications(I may be wrong) This is really nice and pretty useful to add to one's profile and simultaneously understand other functions. Hoping to get the final call
Ashish Will you pls throw some light on the kind of profiles offered to the first batch students ? Were all of them recruited only by IT companies or some other sector companies for IT profile ? I am sorry if this is answered before..I could not find that.
Thanks again !! Ajit

U ppl said tat u will get it confirmed frm the concerned authority!!!! Any updates plzz 😃
firstly...big thanks to koolbuddy, ashish & all the seniors for putting in so much of an effort to answer each & every individual query..
i have a doubt...really sorry if it has already been answered...i tried looking but couldnt find it on the thread...
found out yesterday that MICA had filled its seats on the basis of 1st come 1st served for the payments received... since they had given more calls than seats...those guys whos DD reached late have been placed in the waiting list...
i wanted to know the procedure followed by NITIE regarding this...i think they might have given more calls than the no. of seats...& the date for submission of money is 18th april... do they also follow a 1st come 1st served procedure?

Ajit,
The ITM people have been placed in sectors as diverse from IT as Finance and FMCG... We have had Barclays, DSPML ( International Offer), and P&G; recruiting the ITM talents... So if you have it in you... display it to the recruiters... :)

Hi Vivek,
Guess... we have already answered this query... If you want to claim the advantage of your work-ex... you need to provide your Work Ex/Reliving Certificate duly signed by your Company's HR...

Hey Jok3r,
Nothing like this happens at NITIE. We give calls to as many students as there are number of seats. Filling up the seats is strictly not the criteria here... 😃 So, don't worry... 😃 If your name is there in the list... You have got your seat blocked...!! (Offcourse u need to pay up ur fee... 😉 before the deadline...)
Can someone pls tell when will the status of waitlist will be cleared... It will be cleared on 17th April only?
I am waitlisted number 5 for PGDISEM Course.. Shud i prepare excel sheet for all who got admitted to the course and the people can fill the status of their other calls in the same..?
So that we shud (waitlisted people) know our status well in advance..
How many finance profs do we have at NITIE and how are they compared to those at the IIMs? Thr are arnd 47 full time faculty but not many for finance, I guess. Please clarify. Also I cudn't find the final placement 2008 report on the website..isn't it official yet...when can we except the revised placement figures?
I have a call from NITIE and FMS(MS)...in a dilemma rite now...in your opinion which 1 should I chose and why, considering I want to specialize in finance only bcoz thats what interests me most.
FMS(MS) seems to have better placement figures with an avg of arnd 13 whereas NITIE has an avg of 11.84. Any specific reason for this? Would you please give me the list of finance companies that visit the campus for final placement and the profiles and packages offered? I am asking this bcoz I couldnt find any specific info for the finance domain?

I am not an expert and just an aspirant like you are. Instead of posting a query here what you can do is go to the respective threads and send PM's to the seniors and get their contact numbers and extract info from them and they ll surely be glad to help.
