Hi there,

Found this on the NITIE Admission Queries thread...

Here is the thread for the NITIE call getters.

in this interview to PG PaGaLGuY.com - The Everything of MBA, CAT 2007, GMAT, XAT, CAT 2008, SNAP, IIM - "We take a lot of technical skills for granted in engineers" - NITIE's Associate Dean - Interviews
Prof. Ashok Pundir says that companies dont prefer students from NITIE for IB/finance profiles and that Financial institutions that do take in NITIE graduates take them in for IT and systems based profiles...and also that financial and marketing companies are not as inclined toward NITIE as they are to the IIMs and other b-schools that accept students with commerce backgrounds...
seniors...has there been any change in this trend in the last 2 years??

I'm sorry abt that... mistake on my part entirely! i was wondering if there was a thread for those who have converted the call... my mistake on the wording!

Hey iawit,

There has been a sea change since the time this interview was taken. Too much of water has passed under the bridge since then...

If you remember well, in the ppt shown to you during your GD-PI, it was mentioned that a total of 30 pc of the entire batch (of 2009) was placed in core Finance Sector with a total of 26 pc into the core Finance Profiles. I have already mentioned the list of Fin Companies visiting our campus ( http://www.pagalguy.com/1044886-post114.html ) and the kind of profiles being offered ( http://www.pagalguy.com/1044354-post103.html ), and these are essentially the same companies and the same profiles being offered to most of the other A+ category B-School. Thanks to the factors like:
a) Advantage Mumbai (The commercial hub)
b) Excellent Finance Faculties
c) Student's inclination towards courses like CFA/CFM/FRMs, so that they can compete with the best in other colleges,
d) A very high number of Finance electives (Actually in your second year, you can have as many as close to 50 pc of your total papers as Finance only)

We have been successfully able to establish ourselves, as a highly talented pool of students for Finance Companies.

If you talk about marketing, we have had P&G; and HLL (dream companies for Marketing enthus) as the biggest recruiters including this year as well... and time and again they have shown their tremendous trust in NITIE students... Other biggies included JnJ, GSK, Pepsico, Nestle, Titan, HCCB and so many more...

Well frankly speaking, NITIE has gone as versatile as possible... While maintaining its unmatched supremacy in SCM/Ops, it has definitely taken a lead in other sectors as well and the results are their for all to see ..!!

Keep on shooting your queries,

Cheers,

Hey Varun,

When you talk about investment banking... exactly what do you mean...?? Do you mean the profiles and exact job roles that are offered? If that is so that I have already mentioned it numerous times. Please take some pain in going through my previous posts and links in my signature.
If you mean investment banking as companies then we have the likes of Barclays Capital, JPMC, Lehman Brothers, DSPML coming down to our campus, and this also I have already mentioned.

Finance companies that visited for freshers include Barclays Capital, GE Commercial Finance, GE Money, Citibank, Yes Bank, Standard Chartered and many more. I had already put up a link in one of my earlier posts. Would appreciate if you can go through that...

As for packages, we don't have any official data as to what was the average package for freshers. Its never calculated like this... in either our college or in any other college (to the best of my knowledge). It's always the average for the entire batch.

If you do your specialization in SCM/Ops, you can expect roles in domains like Inventory Management, Procurement, Purchase and Product Supply, Value Chain, Supplier/Distributor Relationship Management and the likes.

Hope I have been able to answer your queries...

Cheers,

thanks that did help but the fact that disturbs me is that the highest salary in fin from Nitie was 12L, if the job profiles offered and companies hitting the campus are more or less the same then this figure would have been much higher

Sir Jee,

Who told you this??

It's not 12 Lacs... its 21 Lacs..!! That too from a Multinational Bank only... And to add to this there are quite a few Fin companies offering in the range of 12+...

Cheers,

as per NITIE site ,on 2007 PGDIM placement:

"As many as 77 companies came down to campus for placements and 45 companies ended up attracting students with their profiles and job offers. The number of job offers made was 2.30 per acceptance. The highest international offer was made by Olam International worth $ 85,000. The highest domestic salary offered was approximately Rs 12 Lacs.More than 10 % of the batch joined the millionaire club. ICICI Bank , Cognizant Technology Solutions, ICICI Prudential, Kotak Mahindra, IBM gave the maximum number of offers."

12Lacs is very very low for a top-15 B-school!!

Hmmm...

Seems there's some really curious concern about NITIE's placement... But, alas all of these are misplaced ones... and I am happy for this... So should you be...!! Well please read the highlighted word... 😃 What I had quoted in my earlier post was that of 2008

Further on, if you want to see only the last year's stat... then u should compare it with other B-School's last year figures only...!! Then you will find, that even last year also NITIE was way ahead of lots of other Top B-Schools... :)

And also... do trust me... I won't be lying...!! :)

Read this also: NITIE posts impressive placement result

I had already posted this earlier... 😉

The most important thing all have to keep in mind is the timing of the news...!! A Manager is supposed to remain updated with the latest info. At the same time he/she should check the timing of a particular piece of news also before taking it forward. In today's fast paced world, things change at one blink. The data you are referring, is an year old data...

Still doubts, about our placements..!!?? Keep on posting... We will clarify all of them...!!

One Last Thing: Guess... we are in TOP 10... 😉 Refer any of the B-School Survey conducted by the likes of Outlook and Business World and so on which are constantly focusing on Emerging Business Scenarios in India in a very constructive manner. The ratings from these Mags have been considered as the truest reflection of a B-School's standing, and respected by all top B-Schools in India... (Verify with people of these college if U wish so). The fact that they use the most scientifically designed methodologies for Ranking and do not go by heart and sentiments... adds a lot credibility to their rankings... 😃 Another thing if you noitced, the cut-offs for GD-PI that we have commanded (It surpassed 98 pc by a huge margin) are way to high than some of the Best B-Schools, and really really close to those of IIMs... !!

Cheers,

Hey koolbuddy,

At the time of the GD PI i was asked to give an undertaking of submitting my resignation letter within 15 days.

Now I understand that the 15 days is from the date of joining that would be around 20th June.Is that correct?
Also normally i would be giving a resignation and the company will provide me with a work ex certificate or a relieving letter (or something similar as not sure what it exactly does) .So what am i supposed to produce. Will the work ex certi be considered as the resignation letter. Do i need to talk to the college about it??

Thanks in advance.

koolbuddy,

any idea abt when we wud reveice the admit letters.... i ve not got it yet...

Hello Arvind,

You should be getting it soon... :)

Dear Dhiraj,

No need to come down to Campus. You can directly send in your DD. Make sure you have written your
1. Name
2. NITIE Application Number
3. Direct Contact/Phone Number
at the back of the DD.

The postal address is the same where you earlier sent your application and the CAT Score Card.

Hi Rahul,

You are correct... U have to submit it after joining...

College will be looking for both the certificates because
1. Work Ex is the proof that You have worked in a particular company from so and so time at such and such posts...
2. Reliving is the proof, that you have been relieved from your assignments from the company and the company does not have any objection in you joining any college or another company.

Cheers,
