Hello seniors,
When can we expect the official communication from NITIE by snail mail (read post)? I have told my PM that I would put in my papers once I receive it (though my name is in the first list already).

Or is it OK if I can resign tomorrow based on what is put up on the website?

Thanks in advance,
Nagendra

Hey Nagendra,

If you have your name in the list, you can very safely resign from your company...

Thanks for the info

Hi Amit,

You are correct... the summer project is the 4th Module... What I wrote is the Summer Placement... 😉 You get placed in the month of September/October for your summers (i.e. 4th Module)...

Seniors, when can we expect the final call letters? Have they been already dispatched or still in the process of being dispatched?

Hello Sourabh,

The result was announced and what followed was a long weekend... The letters should be posted today if it has not been already...

Thanks for impact team for such a cooperation .
I have a query regarding loan can you provide any bank number who can provide loan and ll there be guranter sign in the loan so that i can make arrangements if there ll be a need of guranter.
cheers,
Rajat

Dear Rajat,

We are talking to various Banks. We will let you know the entire process and detail sometime in near future. Right now you would have to pay from your side. Once you join the college, you will get your fee amount re-imbursed.

Lot of question for a single post...but coudnt help asking. Hope you ppl understand the curiosity.

Hmmm Mr. Transporter...!!

Really liked the curiosity in you... ;)

Ok here goes your answer:
1. NITIE announces the average salary based on the actual offers. Strictly no manipulations/speculations in those figures. As and when the salary package is revised by a Company, it is reflected in the Placement figures. What you saw during the presentation was the actual offer based on the placements that happened way back in January first week itself.

2. Once the revised packages are announced, my personal feeling is that the average is bound to cross a sum of Rs. 13 Lacs.

3. Regarding your interest in Finance, its completely your own choice. There's nothing like merit in it. You choose your own electives, attend the classes, appear for the exams, clear it and get specialized...!! Simple, isn't it... :D

4. Ok, now the kind of profiles being offered in Finance. Typically, finance guys (and galz too 😉 ) get an oppurtunity in one of the following roles: Treasury, Equity Research, Project Financing, M&A; Analyst, Securities, Options and Future Analysts, Portfolio Management, Corporate Finance, Consultant, Financial Analyst

Hi Saurabh,

There's nothing like criteria as such... As I said before... Everybody chooses her/his own electives... So in your case, you will also get to choose your own electives and do a kind of specialization you want... You will be given complete freedom to make your profile the way you want two years down the line..!!

Hope we have been able to answer to your queries satisfactorily...

Keep on shooting all you have in mind..!! We are here to help you out... :)

Cheers,

Hi Koolbuddy

It means that dual specialization is feasible, right???

Seniors,
Will there be any 2nd waiting list that will be out??? Just asking out of curiosity...

As such, it is not required. All of us know that the people who are coming to NITIE are very good and hardworking people... They have the capacities to achieve the what they desire and prove to the world that they are the best... Even the companies who come for your interviews won't look at your certificates. Your words will be enough. Such is the trust of companies on us... :)

However, if you still wish you can get one for urself, and keep it with you for unforeseen times...

Hey Nagendra,

The classes start from this date. But you might have to report on 20th of June for your certificate verification, Registration, Hostel Accommodation process and so on...!! Not to forget, Groove is also being planned starting 20th of June... ;)

However, wait for the call letter to reach you..!!

Friends, make sure all of you have read through all my previous posts before raising your queries. All of them contain important information. You can find them in my signature as well...

Hi Team Impact,
This query is pertaining to laptops.
Can we get an idea which configuration you are in talks for and which company? AFAIK, Dell gives the best bulk deals.
WHich laptop did you guys go for? I have my eyes set on the Dell XPS 1350, with 250 gig, T8100 core 2 duo, 3 gb RAM, 128 mb Nvidia. Its costing me 61 k. I guess i will get a discount of say 2 k. If a bulk deal in this configuration is sought for, the discount can be more. The only glitch here is that If bought in Mumbai, then there will be an added octroi of around 2 k, which would negate the discount.

My questions are these,
1. Around what kind of discount can we get through a bulk deal.
2. What was the configuration you guys went for.
3. How important is it to have a laptop from day1??

Thanks to the low fees in NITIE, i could stretch my budget from 50 k to 60 k....yipeee.

Few other queries, though it may be a little too early to ask:
1. WHich is the best network in NITIE?? I mean I used airtel on roaming and it pretty much sucked. Which provider do you people use?
2. I have a bicycle...no problems if I bring it to NITIE and use it right? Aas paas cycle ki dukaan hai kya??
3. Does anyone have a worldspace radio in NITIE?? Worldspace kaam karta hai kya??

Hi Team Impact

U have been a great help!!!!!!!!! A few queries I have.....

I have heard that people pursuing Finance in Nitie do get involved in a lot of certification that helps them have dual degrees.Could you throw some light on that like which certifications , their duration , do people get the time to study for them and their industry values.

I intend to specialize in Finance. I have heard that there is no full time faculty in Finance at Nitie.Correct me if I am wrong. Can you tell us about the faculty for Finance and Marketing. Nitie is known to be a master at Operations/SCM but how is it in Finance and Marketing.

Thanks to the low fees in NITIE, i could stretch my budget from 50 k to 60 k....yipeee.

yaar.. please dont say like this...

aaj hi apne dost ke sath uski "FMS" ki fee submit karva ke aya hu...

Rs 9,990 and a BIG full stop after that...

Even IIFT has lower fees than NITIE... so NITIE fees are defiantly not on a lower side...

And if you have enough spare money, then all your help is welcome by poor souls like me.

Hi Rahul,

People do take up certifications like CFA/CFM/FRM and the likes to add that extra mileage to their CVs... This is really helpful in getting them the kind of profiles they look forward to...!! Typically, these certifications are of 1 year each... And people start looking into these from January onwards...

Don't mind but you are very much incorrect when you say that NITIE does not have Full Time faculties...!! Who told you that...?!
Just refer to the nitie.edu website and browse through... You will be pleasantly surprised to see the kind of Profs we have... :)
As a supporting fact, have a look at this:
http://www.aoef.org/papers/2003/venkateshwarlu.pdf This is just one of so many achievements...
( AoEF or Academy of Entrepreneurial Finance happens to be a premier academic organization dedicated to the ever-growing field of entrepreneurial and small business finance. Its based out of California. )

The companies visiting us are themselves the testimonials of the kind of prowess that we engineers possess in the field of finance. These include biggies like LB, JPMC, AMEX, CitiBank, HSBC, GE Com Fin, StanC, ICICI and so many others...!! You have no dearth of Fin companies visiting us, and trust me, the profiles/package being offered are at par with that of any other TOP B-School. NITIE has been consciously trying and working hard to get into the Premier League of B-Schools known for Finance while maintaining its supremacy in SCM/Ops. We are very much on track and are almost there... :)

Hope I have been able to clear your doubts...

Cheers,

Hi,

Going by the last year's figures, you should be in. I was 5th waitlisted candidate.

But then a lot depends on other candidates and how they see the course and the institute. Till last time placement figures were not out. This time around we saw very good placement season and thats know to everyone.

My personal advice would be to weigh the onsite oppurtunities and growth then after with what such a program can give you and your growth here. Interact with others who have been give the offer to join and then take a decision.

Thanks,
Parth.

Arrey sarkaar spare money nahi hai...aise mazak na karo

I have found out about educational loan from SBI.
1. Any loan applied for which is less than 4 lakh rupees does not require a guarantor nor collateral. Rate of interest = 12.25%.

2. Documents required:
All marksheets copies, class 10 onwards.
Admission proof (letter sent by NITIE).
Estimate of charges (Should be in letter).
2 photographs.
Guardian should provide:
Last 3 IT returns.
Copy of bank pass book.
PAN
ID proof.
Residence proof.
2 photographs.

3. Holiday period: No repayments need to be made for the course duration + 6 months. Till that period, interest will be levied as Simple Interest.

4. However, if interest is paid during this time, then rate of interest will become 11.25%.

5. Loans are sanctioned at 20% margin. i.e. if applied amount is 4 lakhs, loan disbursed will be 3.2 lakhs.

6. Loan disbursed in 7-10 days on an average.

7. Covers tuition fees, Hostel fees, Laptop, monthly expenditure et al.

Loans are available at many other public banks. I have my mind set on SBI.

Rustam Bhai, what i meant was ki if you're taking up NITIE, the loan amount will be less than 4 lakhs. Otherwise for other colleges (apart from FMS and IIFT ) the loan would exceed 4 lakhs, that would mean submission of collateral and rate of interest would become 13.25%.

Guardian should provide:
Last 3 IT returns.
Copy of bank pass book.
PAN

Thanks for sharing your "Researched" experience appreciated

But the problem in my case is

!. My parents fall under that percentage of population who still don't file there IT returnsso I can't get those mandatory "Last 3 IT returns."

2. No one in my house is having a PAN card except me.

So, getting a loan is practically out of question for me.

But, don't worry will do something
