My Life as a Bank Officer

Hi friends

I 've got selected in Punjab and Sind Bank PO.Just have a few queries reg PO

1)Transfers:
Heard that transfers are an integral part of a bank manager's life.
i)Is this true ?
ii)How frequent will these transfers be?
iii)How far will I be transferred from a current location?
iv) Will I have a say in these transfers?
v)Will there be transfers throughout my life or just when am a trainee/po.

2)Hectic/High pressure Nature of theJob:
I did see a few people in this forum mention that the job is hectic. But they gave no reason as to why it was hectic and what kind of work makes a manager's job hectic.
i)Please explain the hectic nature of the job.

3)Will I get some pay increase once I complete my probation? If so how much will it be?

My info:I Have 2 yrs experience in IT filed and am quite comfortable with my job now.I get around 30K a month.

Thanks in advance. 😃

Congratulations and best wishes to those who have cleared the final hurdle and awaiting appointment letters.
Those who missed out, brace up and give your best shot in the coming exams.
Stone is broken by the last stroke of hammer. It doesn't mean that first stroke is useless. Success is the result of continuous efforts.

Cheers!

can a bank PO have a NOC for RBI Assistant job??
will the bank give NOC if a person going for a lower grade job than a PO??

Which is better in terms of work pressure, peace of mind( less chikir pikir ) and late seating.

SBI PO or PNB PO

Salary difference between them is not an issue as i am quite young and have no responsibilities on my shoulders.

which would be better from the perspective of preparation of other exams. ( SEBI, NABARD, RBI GRADE B )

Please someone throw some light on this. 😃

hello seniors...is anyone active here who had shifted into private sector banks after working in public one.

after how many years in bank we can expect abroad posting?

Guys, I am working with a PSB. The problem is that the people here are clumsy and obtaining an NOC would be a big issue here. In addition, my relation with union or ZO are not so friendly. Also, there is a bond of 2 lakhs. So, I am in dilemma if I should mention my experience while filling up SBI PO or not.The main issue that can create problem is that even if I don't mention the experience and abscond straight away, I shall have to re register myself for New Pension Scheme(NPS). What do you think guys? Will I have any problem with NPS? Or shall SBI detect my earlier job via NPS authorities? And even if I pay the bond amount and get the experience certificate, shall SBI debar me from joining on the grounds of not being entirely honest or withholding information?

Now that you puys are about to join different banks, you will come across two qualifications, which many of you might not have even heard till now.

I am talking about JAIIB & CAIIB from Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.

JAIIB is the initial level, CAIIB is the final level.
Both have 3 papers each. Multiple Choice.
I think from coming exam they have made test taking online across all centres too.

Standard books by IIBF from Macmillan publisher is available. Which are sufficient.
A workbook for JAIIB is available which is also good.
You are eligible to register(ordinary life membership) and apply for JAIIB soon after you join.
registeration and application is online at www.iibf.org.in
You can apply for CAIIB after clearing JAIIB only.

Once you pay for JAIIB, you are eligible for 2 attempts(1st Block)

Exams are conducted twice a year Nov & May on consecutive 3 Sundays.

The papers u did not clear in 1st attempt can be appeared in 2nd attempt free of cost.
Supposing your 1st attempt is Nov 2014 then your second attempt will be May 2015.
If you are unable to clear all the papers in 1st block you have to pay for the 2nd Block of exams(again 2 attempts). The cleared paper from 1st block will roll over to 2nd block.
But if you do not clear all the papers in 2 blocks(total 4 attempts).....you will have to register afresh for a new block and previous cleared papers will not roll over to this new block.

For clearing a paper you have to score minimum 50 marks in it.
However, in a single attempt if you score 50% in aggregate and at least 45 in the individual papers then also you are declared to have passed JAIIB.

Similar scheme of exams for CAIIB.

Cheers!

My Life as a bank Officer....
Was this thread helpful to you?

I have a doubt. Lot of people have shared that as a PO it is very difficult to maintain work-life balance since you are expected to work in the branch till 8 PM atleast. Also, I have read some stalwarts experience that first year they suffered this and then they started leaving at a definite time.

My doubt is, what is to happen to a PO if s/he chooses to leave by say 6 in the evening. :mg:

Seniors may throw some light from their experience... :) @rench @icecool11 @winner_iima @tgt_09

Getting many queries on eligibility for promotion:

Every Bank has its own set of promotion policy, which is based on a broad outline by GOI.
Once you get into your bank, its circulars will be accessible to you and then you can know better. Latest by GOI is this one :

@winner_iima & other members working in a PSB...
I have qualified as a PO in Canara Bank & as a MO in Syndicate Bank, just got married, she is a lawyer and is working...
So looking at the situation i would want her to continue with her profession as well...So which job should i opt for so that i get city postings where she can be meaningfully employed as well...
Thanks in advance.

Hi , Is there any serving PO/AM of Corp. bank present on this Forum ?
If yes, please reply !!!

Thanks in advance ..

Hello POs

Will we have any test/interview at the end of probation, failing which we will be terminated?Saw this in SBI PO recruitment notice.

Does this clause exist in other banks po recruitment process too?If yes(I hope not) please brief the nature of this test.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi PUYS,

I am an IT guy with 4 years of experience with WIPRO. Recently i got selected for CORPORATION Bank as a PO. I am in a confusion whether to leave my IT career or not?

Here in IT i am earning around 35K per month. As i am working on a old technology(mainframe) i have many apprehensions on my career. I have very less openings out side and career is very dull. Here life is not that much worst. hardly 6-7 hours work. But i am sure that i cannot wok in this field beyond an age of 40+. now i am at 26. So is it better to join PO?
