Cant argue wen you pick up job security, it is unanimous. But there wont be any free time and those transfers will eat you a lot. I dont say tht IT is lot better than Banking bt will affirm that its better not to leave your job for banking and I dont want you to repent for tht decision of leaving IT in future. I havent seen atleast one IT employee being fired due to recession and its only the tension tht surrounds us wen time demands, am i right?
i would like to add, that the tension is there, also tough visa rules, less bonus, less increment less lateral hiring in most of the it cmpanies liket cs, cts, wipro, infy, hcl, also very few freshers r getting joining date. these are the problems that will continue for this year sure, so freshers can or should i would say, go for PO, but 2 yr exp guys should not. i agree with what u said. i am in IT for almost 2 years now. :(
@praneethreddy5thanks for ur reply dude ..but I wanted to tell .. in banking sector our job is 100% secure ... And after bipartite 10 we can hope a descent salary although it can't be compared to IT industry .. In IT industry who knows how many years we can work and also it can't be a life long job ... And if recession happens ... all high paid people will be in soup so it is always a tough situation to take decision .. And what ever this bank job is .. u can continue up to 60 yrs .. what do u say ?

I completely agree with ur first 3 lines but for last few lines I would say that there is no diff between a guy with 2 years exp or few months exp especially if you are in a service based companies.
because there is no or meagre diff between those kind of people.
Very well said Buddy I completely agree with ur first 3 lines but for last few lines I would say that there is no diff between a guy with 2 years exp or few months exp especially if you are in a service based companies.because there is no or meagre diff between those kind of people.
a 6month exp guy cant switch companies, but a 2 yer exp guy can...thats wat i was trying to say. if acompany is downsizing suddenly then 6 mnth exp guy will suffer big time, but 7,8 yr exp guys does not bother, n 2 yr exp guy will be in trouble too, he has options in other service based companies. isnt it..job pressure is almost same in PO n IT. but from this yrs perspective, PO will get more salary than IT guys.
Now I am also observing in IT industry .. so many employees in IT industry I have seen .. they want to switch to Bank PO / other govt jobs ... even their current package is 8lakh/annum ...
One more human psychology .... no body loves their present job .. I also do not know why is happens ...
First of all , we need a secure job .. imagine somebody lost job after getting married ... only that person knows that situation ...
so as per my view .. if it is constant income source then it is always better than high paid software job without security ...
And finally ... Bank PO is an officer (even if he/she get/does not get respect) ..
May God bless banking sector in the form of bipartite 10 .. so that banking will get its old charm like 1970's(banking sector was high paid among all PSUs)
@JaiJagannath it will be around 50k(i am not considering that notification where its written in mumbai an sbi po will get 70 k PM.) one of my frnds father is a zonal manager in UBI in kolkata. 8 branch manager reports to him. i asked him, he said this to me. but it can change due to tha factor pay commision n others...
I have asked some of the senior managers who are having 20+ yrs of experience in banking industry .. they are telling that there lot of good things going around banking world ... and we can really njoy life the job apart from the pressure ... although transfers are there u can get a chance to meet new people and the personality will increase a lot while dealing with various people in various levels in the society ... and so many things ....
No Pain No gain ....
let me think .. (I am thinking only dude ... what to do )
@JaiJagannath in hand. but that senior zonal manager mentioned his probelms, he said that u have to take transfers, how much senior u r, it doe not matter, n also compulsary rural posting, he said, his family and child's education suffered a lot when he was transferred to a remote location in tripura, for 3 yrs, that too when he is already 52 yrs old with certains family committments and problems
@deepak1139 thanks dude for reply ...Now I am also observing in IT industry .. so many employees in IT industry I have seen .. they want to switch to Bank PO / other govt jobs ... even their current package is 8lakh/annum ...One more human psychology .... no body loves their present job .. very well said...I myself have seen some employees who have joined recently after a switch are been asked to leave becuase they are high paid and since company is not in a condition to accomodate them, they can't be entertained (for some of them they used the words like either you leave by yourself or else we know how to make you leave).
One person I know he took a car loan few months back just after joining and now he is not able to sustain himself, forget about the loan:-(
And the point you have raised in the bold part(Regarding marriage and all) makes everybody think

Hmm..yes you are correct that 2 year exp guy can switch but only if he have worked on some popular and new tech.
Also,in recession companies usually fire the one's who are highly paid (obviouly with more exp) becuase in IT, anyone can be trained to do any task in just few months because the work is not that much typical.
And yes, i agree with you that PO will be getting what a senior professional of 4-5 years are getting now(atleast if we talk about service based companies) :-)
And I can bet that if bank will start working 5 days a week, that will be the most sought after jobs after UPSC and SSC:-)
And if they will take care of transfer policies as well, then it might overcome the charm of SSC because of faster promotions in banks:-)
@saikatha dude ... it is really very very tough decision ..... omg .. I had never thought like this situation will come ...... but how many times rural posting (3 yrs span)... ... have u asked him ?
@deepak1139 dude ... and one more thing is like ..... up to how many yrs our mind will work for software ... what s/w people are doing u know ... they will work up to some 40-45yrs and will start business or something with saved money ... like that they will proceed .... etc etc ...
and in BPS 10 .... we may hope some good HR policy related to transfer ... let us see ,,,,

Its my pleasure buddy..I am also in a similar situation as yours (the main diff is you are getting much more than what I am getting now 😉 ).
and yes,you are very correct in the points that you have mentioned in the first few lines:-)
please do let me know once you will make up your mind between IT and banking:-)
@saikatha dude ... it is really very very tough decision ..... omg .. I had never thought like this situation will come ...... but how many times rural posting (3 yrs span)... ... have u asked him ?
you can avoid rural posting chances by going for banks like IDBI!
