While on the way back to my hometown after completing my engineering, my mind was battling between its logical and passionate sides, hoping the passionate side would win. However, reality struck hard as my parents did not want me to pursue an MBA, but I followed my heart and proceeded to pursue my dream.
Everything was perfect – an aesthetic campus, meeting new people, and a bustling hostel life. However, my life took a U-turn on one particular day. I experienced acute chest discomfort and shortness. After suffering three severe chest pain bouts, I was hospitalised, and cardiac tests were performed.
After a week of agony, the doctor eventually diagnosed me with Costochondritis. My cartilage connecting the rib and chest bone was broken, and I could hardly sit or walk for some time. Things abruptly changed for me, and I found myself absolutely helpless.
As I watched my peers attend their classes regularly and progress academically while enjoying it, I questioned myself every day, wondering what I had done to deserve such hardship.
One thing that kept me going was my attitude of not giving up. People advised me to opt out and return the following year, but I promised myself that I would fight my way out of this situation. Being in so much agony every day, on steroids, and taking end-of-the-year examinations in such a state helped me realise that I am a strong girl and a fighter within. After one and a half months of fighting, I was able to overcome my illness.
I owe my comeback to my GIM buddies, who treated me like family and never left my side no matter what. This experience changed my perspective on a multitude of subjects, and I learned that having a strong will and strength will help you get out of difficult situations. I matured emotionally, mentally, and physically every day.
Given that I have recovered completely now, I am excited about the journey that lies ahead of me. I am prepared to face whatever challenges arise along the way, and I am all set to achieve extraordinary things in my life.
