Life@GIM (Goa Institute of Management)

Under the moisture laden clouds of dust, in between the lush green trees of leaves crushed, right from the hostel to the academic block robust, there we see a tinge of orange dusk.

Every evening the scenic beauty pulls out every single one of us, out of our hostels just to witness the beautiful sky retrieving into it's own shell.

"All work and no play, makes jack a dull boy" - James Howell

The grit, the grip, the tugs and the struggle. It's all much too real here, at GIM. Amidst the classes, exams, and the hectic schedules, students find a way to blow off steam. The Tug of war competition, organised by Prayas, the student run sports club, was a true test of strength, wit and determination. Yet another captivating evening well spent tugging the ropes of war, straight to victory.

"There are certain things like discipline and passion which will be important benchmarks to take you to the top, and hence, you must always keep striving! ”-Professor Nila Nayak, visiting faculty at GIM.

The significance of the relationships you create, teamwork, leadership and the passion you show outside your curriculum are the things that will take you a step ahead in your life, she said.

Everyone's favourite, Professor Nila has been associated with GIM for almost 15 years. Having worked in the corporate, she gets an immense pleasure sharing her experience of the field, off the field.

Goa Institute of Management was pleased to host its first 'Conference on Applied Economics and Finance (CAEF)' that brought together academicians, research scholars, industry experts, and policymakers to present and discuss research on the frontiers of knowledge on the interconnected fields of applied economics and finance.

The three-day coference began with Dr. Romar Correa, a retired Reserve Bank of India Professor of Monetary Economics, University of Mumbai, and Dr. Babu Nahata, who is currently a Professor of Economics at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, as key note speakers. The conference was focused on discussions about the rapidly changing socio-economic and business scenario across the globe that calls for a fresh reassessment of the nations, pertaining to economics, and finance. Hence, these two disciplines should be considered as the pillars of the socio-economic and industrial development of any nation.

It was a great learning experience and we look forward to hosting many more such conferences in the future.
