Brilliant stuff.. All u "i made it thru to ISB" people..
u guys are giving me encouragement,
I need some help and input from u all...
My profile:
Comp Sc grad. From Mumbai Univ. working with TCS for 1.5 yes now. Plannig to take my GMAT in Aug.
I intend applying for 2006-2007 batch at ISB.
Need to know... Is it worth a try with my profile ?(by then i wud have 2.5 yrs of exp) How important is it to have worked on the client side ? And will a good GMAT cover up for not having worked onsite ?
Let me know if u feel something that needs to be enhanced or added in my profile.
Right now i am eager to get into mgmt... I wud really appriciate if u guys could guide me .
Cheers Dheerin
Guys, I made it to ISB, too...

Congrats Rohit and Vingmat!

Any idea how many got a tuition waiver, and how much?

Dont know why u cant apply to ISB, unless u go and axe ur foot by getting a GMAT score below 680.
Your challenge will be to differentiate yourself from hajaar software engineers applying. You might want to sit down & think about no. of non-conventional things u might have done... community work, extra-curicular.. etc etc.
I was thinking on exactly the same grounds... Now my only issue is to take my GMAT and apply this year or have a shot at some onsite opportunity, have some international work exp and apply next year !!

GO Ahead and apply for the next batch. Surely it is worth a try. Remember if you have done something different (even in the IT industry) it is seen as a big bonus. (By something different I mean other than the normal software coding. Hope you understand) Client Side - You can talk about working in multicultural environments. I personally do not feel that a lot of weightage is given to that. A good GMAT helps. I think this year the average GMAT score is around 700. So aim for that. All the Best.
- Ramki.
I am posting here after a real long time. Feels good.
try the TCS -ALP , CSR activities when you are offshore, try teaching at trivandrum for freshers , gmat score may save you only upto a certain point take some risk and goto some RLT (road less taken) onsite, if you can , like i went to zambia ,ghana through tcs
i mean , for the interviews you need something to sell yourself
all the best !
Thanks Simba.

Dont think it will have an adverse effect as long as you have a reasonable explanation for your moves. Yes, ofcourse apart from the 'HIGH' pay...ofcourse!!

LOL, You are wondering whether your change in job will affect ur future MBA prospects. Isnt it a lil out of sync.. I thought you should worry about your career progress and then figure out whether an MBA fits in well....:)
Could anyone please tell ISB considers 2 years of work ex( for example developer in MNC) or in that 2 years one should be in a lead position?.Please clarify

I too hope that it wouldn't have an adverse affect , but does staying in big companies like TCS work out better at the i/v because of the branding they provide or does moving out of them and working in smaller but core product companies which provide higher pay n more growth opportunities but little onsite opportunities have an equal say at the i/v level. worked in TCS for only 6 months ..will that be sufficient for getting the big company brand..
