ISB 2017 Aspirants

Hi All!

I have joined full-time in June 2014. As per the ISB website one needs to have experience of 24 months by March 31st, 2016.

I would be having about 21 months of full-time experience. So will this criteria of 24 months be a restriction on me?

I have also read about the Early entry option, but it is not clear that when would I be eligible to join. Can I join the PGP'16 batch after June or Do I need to wait for 2017 batch?

Please advise me on which is the best step I should take to maximise my chances.

ISB Essay 1

If we were to admit just one more student, make a compelling argument as to why that student should be you by describing an (only one) achievement in your personal / professional life that you are most proud of. What did you do that sets you apart from others? What did you learn? (400 words max)

ISB Essay 1 Tips
The real question that is asked here is - why should Indian School of Business bother with you when there are a hundred other applicants with a comparable GMAT score or work experience or academics or whatever?

The ISB is seeking your 'USP' in this essay. Your primary aim in this essay will be to explain to the ISB Adcom the factors that make you different, unique and distinct. Your task in this ISB Essay is to answer this question effectively and within 400 words.

These reasons should ideally differentiate you from the applicant pool and should be backed with some data.
To write credibly about the differentiation you bring and the value you add to the Indian School of Business will require some knowledge of ISB and the average ISB student profile (research time!). Then, ask yourself what genuinely sets you apart. What are your greatest strengths? What are your greatest achievements? What are the characteristics that you believe will differentiate you in a group of high-reaching professionals? What are the skills and attitude that have driven your greatest personal/professional accomplishments? Choose two examples that credibly sell your candidacy. Whether you want to go with a single theme across both essays or multiple themes across each story is entirely your choice.
The current essay prompt combines the historical focus on "differentiation" the spotlight is on your achievements and learning. While the examples could be professional or personal, choose them based on their overall significance in your life/career, their relevance to the ISB application and most importantly on what it says about YOU. Choose an example that could convince the ISB admissions committee that your qualities, attitude, experience, and knowledge make you different, unique and distinct.
As always, remember that this essay is part of a bigger package and write accordingly. Please ensure that the qualities/achievements mentioned in this essay complement the content in the other parts of your application.

I have got a score of 690 in GMAT and more than 3.5 years of experience. I think I have a good profile. I need few pointers regarding some of my concerns. I would like to discuss this with someone who got selected with similar Gmat score (i.e. less than 700).

Can anyone who got selected in R1 with similar Gmat score please message me. I wont take much of your precious time but your feedback will be very valuable for me. Thanks

Hello Everybody, I am applying for round 2. Does ISB require only 1 evaluator and what should should be the criteria to select that Evaluator? Is an external client recommendation considered the best?

@ ISB converts(or people who applied in R1) - Did you consult any consultant for your essays?

If yes , suggest a good one 😃

Thanks

Hi All,

I am an R2 applicant. Have a question with the application.

Do we need to give the Manager and HR details for only the current work experience or for the previous years as well?

The application portal is behaving a little odd for me. It pops up the boxes, to fill in HR and Manager details, sometimes and disappears in certain other cases. However, the preview application shows this for all cases.

Thanks

I am getting this error while submitting :-

The following information is not complete.

  1. Scholarship Personal Details
  2. (Father's Gross Income)

Can anyone help me. I don't see any section in personal details asking for fathers income.

How many evaluations are needed for the ISB application?

Hi Guys,

Can any one of you suggest my profile strength for applying to ISB in round 2?

Overall experience - 8+

Company - Oracle (Current) - 5 yrs+ and Infosys(3yrs)

GMAT score - 680 (AWA - 5.5/IR-3)

Extra curricular - Basic

I have been informed by many that with 8+ years of experience, i might find it difficult to make the cut. What do you guys suggest?

Any must apply schools for the current admission cycle - (India/Abroad) for my profile?

Regards,

Vijay

Does anyone have the questions sent out to the evaluator? Since there is just one evaluation, I'll probably select the evaluator based on the evaluation questions

Any admits for Co17 from Ahmedabad????

Is there any way of confirming whether our GMAT scores have been received by ISB?

How much effect does our AWA score has on shortlisting/ admission chances? I have score of 730 with AWA of 3.0

Hey folks need ur help. I am a working professional with 4yrs experience in Manufacturing sector..How much score do I need wth average academics nd extra curricular profile for getting into ISB.

For what kind of roles do consulting companies recruit.

I have 5 years of experience working in Engineering/manufacturing optimization and automation. I want to get into consulting. Wondering if consulting companies recruit people with manufacturing/Engineering background.Unless consulting companies have Industries under profitable business verticals in India, they might not recruit people from manufacturing background.

Does any one have any idea ?

Hi,

It seems that sending the GMAT score via GMAC is mandatory before submitting the application. In the GMAT Score section of the online form there is a question -

Have you requested PearsonVUE to report an official score to the ISB? But I am unable to state any response for this question. And below this the date selection field is remaining mandatory. So before requesting PearsonVUE we will not be able to submit the form. Please clarify.
