ISB 2017 Aspirants

Hi,

I want to know if isb considers any sectional cutoffs in percentiles for gmat while calling candidates for interview. I have a score of 700 with 41 (94 epercentile) in VA and 44 (65 percentile) in quants.

Class X - 83%

Class XII - 80 %

Graduation : 70 % ( gold medalist in psychology)

I am honrs graduate in psychology post which I was hospitalised for around three years for cancer treatment. After getting cancer free, I worked with a public sector bank for two years in the areas of financial inclusion in remote areas of Uttar Pradesh. Post that I got through the internal exam conducted by the bank for the profile of derivatives trader and have been working  as a senior currency/derivatives trader for three years now.

I also work pro bono with the support groups at various hospitals having tie ups with my bank  for providing counselling to patients suffering from cancer. I am an amateur singer, and a voracious reader with various awards in extempores, debates and choreography and enjoy going on long treks.

I know its asking too much, but since I have a very untraditional pathway, it would be very helpful if I can receive some bluntly honest feedback on my chances of getting an interview call with this gmat score, acads  and profile.

Is it advisable to apply to ISB with a GMAT Score of 690?

Profile : 10th/12th - 88/89,Graduation  : CGPA :8.4 (NIT T)

Work Experience : ~30 months (Consultant)

Thanks.

Hello, I have a query. Back in my final year I applied for the ISB YLP Program. Filled the form, and got shortlisted in the first round. But due to non availability of my passport, couldn't appear for GMAT before the deadline date, and thus did not carry forward by application. This year again I'll be applying for ISB. Do i come under reapplicant category, or a first time applicant? Thanks

this query is related to the recommendations ..I wont be able to ask my current manager to give me a reco.. my previous manager gave me the reco the last time ( i am a reapplicant ).. since we need only 1 this time can i repeat my last one.. will it affect my application in any way???

Does writing 4th essay add any additional value to your application ?

Which one of the following recommendations would be preferable :

1) Ex-Manager

2) Department HOD?

Thanks

Is there any good tutorial available online..in urgent neend of some good guidance.. All I have listen about is Byju, Magoosh, egmat & Crack verbal.. Please share reviews regarding them..

Is there anyone from ISB officially here. I have raised an issue for many days that I am not able to submit my application due to technical issue. I am surprised that others are not complaining about this who are applying for scholarship.

it gives me this error while submitting:-

The following information is not complete.

  1. Scholarship Personal Details
  2. (Father's Gross Income)

Did anyone entered their fathers gross income anywhere.  I cant find any such place. Need help. Deadline is very close now.

Not able to save my information on ISB portal. Has anybody else faced this issue?

A query : when am uploading my photo in jpeg format...an error crops up that says upload in pdf form. Help..?

Are there any kind folks out there who would like to help in reviewing my essays & giving a feedback ?

P.S. Looking for peers/ISB students willing to do it free of cost,  no consultants ! Thanks :)

Hi everyone,  Need some advice. I intend to apply for R2, I gave my gmat and scored 710 Q48 V40. Toefl 113 --------- Profile: I will complete 50 months of work experience with cognizant  this February working in Data warehousing and Business Intelligence. I have worked with a leading Healthcare provider from U.S. early in my career and currently I am working for one of the biggest Retail and Hospitality chains in the middle east. I have a very extensive knowledge about how the Retail and Restaurant Chain industry works, how and what information business requires to take decisions for future growth and so on. Prior to my engagement with Cognizant(during the job search time after college) , I worked for HDFC Life as Sales Development Manager. That experience taught me a lot of things and is something I will never skip to mention. I am a certified NSE's certified Market Professional level - 1. Currently I am working on a product development project on Microsoft Azure platform, the product will be a one step business intelligence solution for all retailers. Achievements : I received best performer of the batch award after completing a corporate leadership program. I was given fast track promotions, 2 in 4 years, expecting the next in coming year.  Recieved many awards and recognition for critical projects and leadership. I have 4 certificates from National Stock Exchange, 2 of which are expired now. :p  I am an avid reader and I like writing. Currently writing a story that I intend to publish.  Photography is something that I take seriously, recently started posting pics in 500px to start selling them online.  ------ Firstly, are there any points I should be concerned about that might effect my chances of landing an interview? Secondly, I completed my Engineering from a government university in Uttar Pradesh - Purvanchal University, secured 72% and was among the top 5 students in my class. Does graduating from a largely unknown University effect my chances to land an interview?  Lastly, please suggest what should should I mention in the optional essay in order to  strengthen my profile. Thanks

I have been working in manufacturing sector since last 5 years. However, my major interest lies in web development. In my free time, I have developed a few apps and websites. Now I want to switch my job from manufacturing to an internet based company. Is ISB Mba a suitable option for me ? In the essays, If I write my honest future goal which has zero professional experience to support and which is purely based on the interest, will it jeopardize my admission chances ?

Hi,

I am seeking the recommendation from my manager of previous company. He has shifted to a new organization now( It's a startup) and he does have an official email ID there.

Would it be a problem if I provide this new mail ID for evaluation purposes?
