Had my interview on 4th December in Mohali. I'm a reapplicant and it was completely different from the interview I had in delhi last year. I reached an hour earlier and the interview actually started half an hour before the scheduled time. The panel was nice, though the questions seemed slightly different than the standard ISB format of no cross questioning. I was asked the standard questions of why MBA, why ISB, which other colleges I'm applying to. They went in depth for a project I had mentioned in my essays and my long term goal. Grilled me a little on that. Overall I think it went better than the last time, hope they think so too :) . Keeping my fingers crossed. Anyone else here who had an interview there yesterday ?
will the mails regarding selection of candidates on or before 15th be in one blast?? or like interview mails it can come in more than one chunk...
Is there any wait-list in ISB for R1 candidates or is it just a yes or no??
Kolkata guys best of luck for tomorrow. Please do share you experience here. I have mine on 7th :)
Seems pretty dead in here! I guess it's the excruciating anxiety of the impending D-day that's keeping folks mum?
For entrepreneurs, who should be the recommender and how is her/his veracity and profile tested by ISB ad-com. I'm planning to get a reco from a customer. But the problem is that he is a 'lala' (10th pass, 58 yr old, and doesn't know E of English). He has annual sales of close to 200 crore. In fact, all my customers, vendors and brokers are lalas. So, can any1 help me out?
Hello all,
So I had my Skype interview with a panel of 2 members yesterday. It lasted for 23 minutes.
The interview was very pleasant and comfortable. The panelists were very cordial and receptive. They started on why my interview is through Skype when I work in Delhi NCR (currently in Toronto on a business assignment). Then, they discussed my work profile in details in which they seemed quiet interesting. Then, they went to ask that why leave my job and go for an MBA when I doing very well in my job. Post MBA plans.
Response to this question went on to discuss why I am in Toronto on business, what basically is the project I am working on here. Then, again they dived into my profile with discussion on pension needs in India. How is different from other countries? One rank one pension.
After that, they asked me why I did not go into Stock trading (had done for 2 years during college).
They concluded with any questions for them.
Interview was very pleasant and strengthen my confidence in ISB.

Hey all. Need a little guidance. I m a doctor, running my private clinic from last 5 years. But I want to work in an MNC at a good package. Thinking this, I recently gave GMAT and scored 720. I will like to apply to R2 of ISB. My doubt is, Do we doctors get placed, are there companies out there who will pick us and what roles they offer us??
Hi ISBers,
Please evaluate my profile. UG-71%, MS in US - 3.0 Gpa. Will have 3 years if experience before 2017. What should be my GMAT. Do I have a chance. Thanks for the help. To
i've got 7 years of work experience in Sales and Marketing. Currently i'm a Marketing Communications manager for a firm. I have a bachelors degree in engineering. What course and what college can i target for a 1 year course
Hello everybody. I'm on the wrong side of forty and perhaps the odd one out here. I have close to 29 years of experience. I have been an entrepreneur all my life (started working in 1987). I have almost reached a standstill where i have lost interest in work. I'm in search for something profound, something more ambitious and challenging than what i currently do. I came across ISB's PGP programme. The fact that it's a one year course makes it all the more appealing. I took GMAT a couple of weeks ago and scored a 680 (After months of lessons by my daughter). I intend to apply in round 2. I'd like to know a couple of things: 1. Am i even allowed to pursue an MBA at 47? 2.What are the hurdles that i'll likely face? 3. Will a 680 make me in-competitive? (I cannot re-take the test! It's like moving a mountain at my age). 4. What other programmes (besides ISB) are suitable for my profile? Thanks.
How to Target ISB R2 Application - Essay 1
If we were to admit just one more student, make a compelling argument as to why that student should be you by describing an (only one) achievement in your personal / professional life that you are most proud of. What did you do that sets you apart from others? What did you learn? (word limit: 300 words)
This essay has one singular purpose : what's your Unique Selling Points (USP)?
Lot of candidates while writing this essay will go into long stories, trying to fit in multiple things into one essay. But the essay asks you about ONE achievement, it makes it very clear. Typical Structure:
1. Do not start with "What does ISB want?", instead start with "Why should ISB select me?"
2. It can be a personal or professional achievement/recognition or just a plain anecdote about which you're really PROUD. Remember they are not looking only for AWARDS, they are looking for what separates YOU.
3. Start with brief context of the situation.
4. Next, the process is important. Highlight "YOUR" approach to the situation. Adcoms here want to know what do YOU do when faced with a tough situation? A good example could be: "I weighed various options and risks involved with the decision such as..... Hence, after convincing my manager about X payback on taking Z risk, I took the ownership of the project"
5. Through this approach, what did you achieve? Did your manager send you a recognition mail? Did you get an award? Did you earn more respect? Did you go beyond the call of duty and hence the satisfaction?
6. Finally, mention what did this experience teach you? Did you become much more calculative in your approach? You became more mature when faced with tough situations? You now understand how negotiations work better?
When can we expect the final R1 results.. 14th Eve like last year? Is that the usual trend historically?
Puys,
A rather dumb question at this point...but still...will the GMAT send an official score report to the residence address? Or is it just download & save from the pearson website?
hey I have a gmat score of 720 but only 60% in my btech? will it hurt my chances? and to add to that I am Indian IT male with 2.5 years work ex....
Hi , I want to make career in IOT domain, have exp in both tech and biz fields.
Will ISB pgp program help me getting this ?
The last person to be interviewed will be tomorrow evening. The ADCOM will then meet on 11th and if required even on 12th & 13th. Results will be ready as soon as the ADCOM meeting is done. Wish you all the best... I am nervous... How about you??? Llewellyn DeSouza
Could some one please evaluate my profile -
GMAT - 720, Work Ex - 2.5 yrs ( IT + Management ) B. tech - 81.4 % , C.S.E Grad from a Govt College, KAIROS scholar, Intellecap - Villgro Entrepreneur Scholar.
Re applicant. Nothing much has changed in profile since last application, except for increase in work ex, and transition from Asst. Manager to Deputy Manager.
The wait seems eternal...
