I am himanshu...I am BE (Mechanical). I'll be having three years of work ex when I'll appear for CAT this year....I have experience with two big automoile giants of the country.....Though I'm mechnical engineer, but I donot have much experience in spoiling my hands and clothes working on machines....I'm more into analytical job....AT the begening of my career when I was told to extend the spreadsheet for analysis, costing, I was confused is it something what a mechanical engineer has to do....But now I'm enjoying this stuff...Hence to move forward I feel I need management education to groom myself for the job......
I'll be apearing for CAT and other management exams this year....
Seniors...please advise what I should concentrate and how to proceed.....I'm already a student with CL. But I'm not sure that will these funda books will be sufficient? Or should we check out some other study material? What else except for clearing basics and practicing quant/reasoning/english, I should work out?
And yaa after working for three years I feel I'm good with numbers.....And I enjoy working on analytical stuff....so what specialization should I aim at? I believe that I will be asked for this ques in PI when I'll share my interest and profile.....

bddy it depend on selection criteria disclose by dat time by iim s, bt if u hv 2 go 2 iim s den u hv high cat % ile more dan 99.60 after i yr!!!!!!! because of bad acads as competition will be more gruesome bt apart frm iims dere is also good b schools vich only see,,,,,,qualifyinf test marks like: fms,delhi jmet xat tiss mdi ;)

Hi Anurag, Good that you have an acceptable percentile in MAT. Before i can suggest you the right institute out of three, i would ask you a simple question. What is your priority in joining an institute? If you are looking at a quick route to get into the corporate world with ajust a degree, there are umpteen options beyond just these three.
My preference has been that you choose a place that helps you grind yourself, learn a bit on the tougher path, experience scenarios outside through a clear focus on your capabilities. And at the end of it, helps you get into an orgn where the institute is respected.
And yes what the institute has done over the years in these paths is the sole criteria once your freeze your objectives.
Among the three institutes you have listed, I would suggest MATS Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Bangalore.
Because you actually get "molded" into the stuff you want to be. The focus is on developing your abilities and carve out a position for you in the industry. The proof is the experience of students who have passed out of there, and the organisations' respect for them.
And worth a place for you since you are in Bangalore. You can check that probably with a visit to the institute.
Please quote when you are referring to someone. And are you a faculty of MATS Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship?? Kindly don't endorse any college on the forum.
