Can anyone throw some light on the syllabus for the entrance exam (ACET) ?
Candidates should have compulsorily passed paper CT1 and CT5
plus 4 or more other papers of the examination conducted by the
Institute of Actuaries, London/Actuarial Society of India. (Total 6 or
more papers) as on the date of eligibility i.e. 1st March, 2014

Puys, I am interested in pursuing the actuarial studies and will be appearing for ACET this June. I have been following this thread from sometime now. As per what I saw here, it is clear that it is almost impossible to find a job related to actuaries by just clearing 2-3 papers. It was not a surprise for me, as out of common sense I used to think, that for a discipline that requires you to clear some 12 papers, clearing some 2-3 papers makes you a novice at best. Today I came across a profile of a person on Linkedin. He has cleared all 12 papers of IAI and has a 15 years experience of working with Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. He has a B.Tech from good govt. collage (not IITs). He posted on one of the actuaries discussions on Linkedin, that he is facing problems in finding a job as an actuary. It was very disappointing to see this. Can anyone suggest what went wrong here? Is the qualification from IAI to be blamed, or should his 15+ years of work-ex with the state govt, presumably not in the field of insurance is to blamed? Is there so much of a dearth of opportunities for actuaries that even a person with all 12 papers cleared would not find a job? What can be done to prevent this to happen to anyone else?

I missed the chance to register the exams ....as i was new and was not aware of the registration dates...IAI had not given any notification regarding that... I have also purchased the material then also there was no link to enroll on my profile.. Is there anyone who is facing same problem ...??
