This is what I felt about the ACET - if you know calculus, probability, statistics, linear algebra well, then the exam is quite easy. I worked through the learning materials provided by IAI in the 2 weekends before the exam and solved the one sample paper provided. And that was my preparation. The problems in the exam/sample paper were NOT tricky at all. Now I am targeting 4 CT exams for May. CT3 & CT6 definitely, given that I am quite comfortable with probability and statistics. The other two will most likely be CT1 and CT8. I am not expecting much pressure from work and should be able to devote enough time to prepare. Are there any papers in the CT series that are generally regarded as "easy"?I see that the thread has ACET in its name - do you guys know of any other active threads/forums that revolve around the CT series or other actuarial exams?
You can take max of three exam at one shot.

Just a little suggestion from my side. Do not rush it. This exams are not average certainly not of the level of ACET. Here study material won't be enough. Go through the questions and then decide your level as well as the number of exams you want to take.

But love to see your spirit dude. You are a strong guy. Keep at it.

hey .. i m just a noob here .. could anyone pls briefly lay out the procedure for registering for ct exams after a positive result in acet.

I appreciate the concept of a screening exam rather than amount of maths/statistics courses one signed up for in college as was the case earlier by IAI.

Waiting for your replies on ct exams - first the procedure for registration and then perhaps we could have dedicated forums for each ct exam where in we could discuss the subject matter.

i sincerely apologise for my comments...my bad...and congrats to my fellow people for clearing acet-3...adb guys for future...

Cleared ACET ... I m a working professional .. can any one please help me to choose the paper .. I am good at Math.... I want to know the standard of CT exams ... l am planning to write CT1, CT3 and CT5 .. please give ur suggestion ....

@deep_agar congrats...hmmm...writing 3 papers is definitely difficult...the std is too high compared to acet...even i started with thinking of writing 3 papers but ended up writing only one...so i think u should better think abt concentrating on any one...ct-3 is always the best one to start with cause its like more abt probablity and maths and all and is considered tough always ...and atleast 2 hrs a day on that subject...so think abt one exam properly and give ur best..cause writing 3 is not at all easy with u being working pro...think abt it wisely..

@Blu_Dragon

Thanks. Is that limit of 3 mentioned anywhere on the IAI site. I must have missed it (and may be more). Can you please provide a link? BTW are you active on any other forums?

CT1, 3, 5 cover very different areas. To me it makes more sense to take exams that are related in course together. For eg. CT3 & 6, CT1 & 8. Any reasons you are planning to take 1, 3, and 5.

@KhattamInsaan - I saw CT 1 is the basic one which cover the basics of lot of other paper. CT3 is prob and stats so thought of it . CT 5 i just thought. But i think i should limit it to 2 paper. I will definitely like to write CT 3. So just tell me which other i should write?

Hi Guys,

I am a working professional(2 +year) and i guess i should appear for the ACET exam. Can you please suggest me the date of the next ACET exam in 2013. I missed the one held in December'12 month.

I will really appreciate your support if you can guide me through it.

Thanks in advance!!!
@deep_agar If you really going to take 3 papers at a time, then take one theory subject.
I guess CT7 is theory subject. That's what i think. It would be relatively easier to handle 3 subjects together .
but think 10 times before taking any subject, its not easy to handle all the subjects, even theory subject like CT7 book is almost have 1000 pages( Not sure 100% but heard from Seniors )

I have CT1 book with me, consisting 4 parts almost 800 to 900 pages ( I have not counted actually page by page, by approximation )
@sandyyy - have u written any exam ??? pls suggest me ..... i think i have to restrict my self to two paper .... which two subject i should choose ???

hi .. any of you wd experience taking 3 and 4 .. i m considering dem .. judging by the past papers.. dey r mostly maths. could we get a glimpse of the standard core material before we actually sign up for the xams ..

i have a few probabilty and statistics texts with me in online format. If any of you guys interested .. let me know.
@deep_agar : take subject which you think you can manage that subject easily than others. It helps you a lot to boost confidence. No, i have not taken any exam yet, i will be taking in May.
I am still thinking over as which subjects to choose first. May be i will go with CT1 and CT2/CT7(any one from them), CT7 is theory subject(Economics) mainly but you should have to be aware of economics concepts and CT2 is more of Accounts( for me CT2 is easy)

CT4, CT3, CT6, CT5 i think are difficult one, i dnt knw really but advance level you can say atleast for me.

with 3-4 paper clear, one can get good internship.

I saw one PSU bank's and Govt insurance companies recruitment notification, the ask for at least 3 papers cleared from ( CT1,CT2,CT3,CT5,CT7).. you can google too, i did.

You decide, go through the syllabus and previous years papers
@sandyyy - thanks a lot for the useful information ...

I am not able to find the link. You have to trust me on that one. Or else when the time comes apply for four subjects and see the reaction for yourself. By the way are you still thinking of going with 4 papers even if it is allowed?

it will be held in June. Registration should be open for 30 days in April 2013.
@Blu_Dragon I have cleared ACET, and i have downloaded Application form, where they have mention that they want " Photocopy of your ACET registration form and result highlighting your name "
from where i can get this registration form, is it same as profile that u can print from your log id or anything else.
i can just see my result as pass, when they will send result to us, so that i can provide them copy of that as well
@desert_rose007 during our time we have to send a draft of 1000 rs. But I don't remember very well what I had send along with that. So I may not be the right person to answer your query. Call them up or someone else here may explain the process. Ours was offline exam. But since june 2012 it became online so the process has changed a little.

Sorry I culd not answer your query.

@Blu_Dragon - Could you please tell me how many paper you have cleared ? Please do let me know which papers you took it first ?

I have cleared ACET but do i have to apply for membership now or whenever i want to appear for an exam diet?
