Training : Awesome experience . Nothing like it atleast in India...period!!!
Projects : Life starts taking a ugly shape here. Wont speak much on this as everyone here has done.
Rules : I didnt have such strict rules in my school too...Forget a tie/belt/formal shoes on mon/tue and you end up paying 150 bux as fine...For god's sake, what is this???:wow: 9.15hrs compulsory per day even if you on bench

Lotsa biasing goes around here. A friend of mine was given pink slip during recession saying he was not a good performer but guess what while he left he had offers from IBM,Satyam,Capegmini & Wipro. So was he that bad??? Actually the ratings(CRR) depends totally on the managers and if you dont have a gud repo with him you are gone. I dont wanna demoralize you or something but just keep these in mind as I being X-Infoscions have seen it all...Used to be a dream company for freshers but now Post Narayan Murthy the firm has lost its way

I have to confirm things, because when I left Infosys in July last year, I had a long discussion on iRace with my manager. And I was informed that bands are going to be replaced. Later my friends, who are PMs and Tech Archs in Infosys informed that bands have been replaced with Levels. So, when you said that Infy is still following Bands, then I was doubtful. I was sure that they have been replaced but it is always better to confirm.
I have a request to all of you who are replying to the queries here, please first get things confirmed. Also, make sure that you are not doing something against the Business Conduct Guidelines.
all the freshers who have offers to join infy I would like to say that its a good option to take up.firstly it pays the highest among all other it companies (cogni, wipro mbt etc) for freshers . i thnk only TCS had a comparable salary as infy(atleast when i joined 2.5 yrs back)secondly the training experince at mysore is mindblowing. All the facilities-squash,gym,rockclimbing, bowling, swimming , movie theater etc. combined with studies.after the training period is over it depends on whether you are assigned a project or not after it. I was lucky to be involved in a project right from start so i have not been on bench since i joined( though i would love to spend time on the bench) it depends on you actually if you like working and interested in learning things you will surely get a project(sometimes you need to push ur manager a little bit) there are also people who just want to chill and spend time doin timepass and avoid projects. i know frnds who were in projects but as they didnt wanna work they stopped workin and they were put on bench and not removed from the company.for the appraisal to get a 1+ or 1 rating is difficult(you need to clear certifcaitons and what all crap) but if you are decent in your work u can always manage a rating of 2 and now they have removed the condition that u need 1 for a band change so 2 also is fine.ya sometimes there are partialities for 1+ or1 rating depending on your rapo with the manager but that is everywhere in all companies.

I hope and seriously wish all Puys had rocked one exam or other..
in case if some one did not, or trying for one more year for the elusive IIM tag
and planning to join infy in coming few months,how would it be to team up our preps together.....i do not say we have to meet up daily or those college time combined studies(every one knows what we use to do then
)its just we can meet up once in a week or 15 days(ofcourse depends on team size and enthu) in the campus and discuss abt our preps
we have 300 acres of campus in mysore(so plenty of places to meet)
It would be always good to work as a team
PS: i am from mysore campus,so looking for infosions who are currently based in mysore or going to join here in coming few months
PPS:i am an aspirant (not able to bell cat this year 91.72), and writing this post as we do not have many active puys here from mysore(atleast, i think so)
and it would be lot easier for us to arrange for meetings as we all would be present in the infy campus for most of the time

Hi Anushka,enjoy your holidays,as there is nothing else to be done from ur sideInfosys generally informs ur joining date one month in advance ,if anyformalities needs to be done ,they will inform u via mailkeep checking ur mails oftenif u are not havng a PAN card better aply for it,as it is mandatory(ofcourse u can apply it even after cominghere)

Don't worry you will receive the mail once they decide your batch. It may take some time. If this is your final year then may be you can start receiving the mails from May onwards.
Well i am seeing a lot groaning for people who quote infosys to be bad company with regard to HR policies now.
Well as all say Infosys is the best recruiter, why r the highest number of CAT takers from Infosys.
I was a part of infosys family for long, Emp 65256, it runs into 140000 now. so u can understand how old i am in Infosys and have seen it all.
Well if u r only a fresher, go to Infosys and also better try to avoid IT sector. My advice, why do you want to waste ur engg degree going into software coding. u cud have learnt it in aptech or NIIT and saved lakhs of government money.
also, try getting into Banks or finance institutions even though they pay less, as they will give u more mileage in the long run.
i wanted to confer to prem's views on Infy was no longer the same after the departure of Nandan and NRN. They were phenomenal. Now, It is all politics, regionalism, favoritism that rules the roost @ Infy. I wonder how i negotiated that long in Infy :shock:
Well i am saying all this as the grass is no greener in Infy and you people should know abt it before hand rather than be dejected once u land thr.

I'd suggest the final year people to take an informed decision.If you are from a non-IT background like mechanical engg,industrial engg (even EEE and ECE are non-IT branches FYI) etc. ask yourself whether you really want to move into software programming. If No is your answer,reconsider your decision and look for other opportunities. Expecting some flexibility in the post-training postings,I wanted to work in a process oriented department like Quality but that flexibility just does not exist here.But I stuck on because my support work was not too daunting.After I got released from my first project in 2009,I haven't been in a proper project and was alternating between bench and project and this affected my recent appraisal.I have now realised I had been running a rat race and that my decision to join IT was because of my herd mentality.I have learnt some hard lessons largely from my bad experiences here in the past one year and would advise joinees-to-be to take an informed decision.
+1 on that.. dont join infy for the sake of joining .. if yu are inclined towards non IT dont join .. look for other opportunities.. main to leke phas gaya yaar .. about to leave .. !!

It is not that I am against your views, but this is not what is expected on this thread except it needs to be said ( to some extent) in order to answer the query of a new infosys joinee.

most of the junta joins any S/W company because they are the ones who recruit in large nos and a hefty package compared to the core comapnies
and when they join they look out for best among the s/w offers they got,and among them infy generally do stand out because of its 6 month long training process(ofcourse,they will know realities of S/W industry once they enter into prodn
)
and i don't feel its confined only to infy,but to all s/w companies as a whole with the concepts of comparitive ratings every 6 months(i hate them
)
and generally they do come for this thread to get the doubts clarified and to listen some interesting things abt the comapny they are going to join in the near future
so i think its no use discussing abt the policies here,and who knows who might be watching us

As said by the seniors above,if u have a comparitive offer from a core company ,it would always better to accept it even though u might compromise on the package a bit,but it will help u in the long run and
it will boost candidature in future MBA interviews among N number of s/w engineers

I am currently with infy and it would be a great time to work but doing MS will be much better option. After doing your MS you would have even better options and a much better chance to pursue whatever kind of job you want to do.

The training will be awesome but after you land up in production you would find yourself preparing for various post-graduation entrance exams like CAT,XAT,GMAT etc.If you are very keen to do coding,join Infosys but after training,production may not guarantee you a coding job.You might land up in support work.So I would suggest you to go for your MS.

Could you please confirm the following policy of Infy Lateral Recruitment Process:
I had taken the Infy Fresher's written Test when I was a fresher and I had not got through
Also, in 2008 when I tried in Infy as a lateral while working in Dell India, due to HR (Pay Negotiation),I was not through.
Recently,when I tried applying to Infosys after nearly 2 years I was given a reason that if a person is not through Infosys Interview for two times, his/her profile would not be considered anymore.
But My point is that first time as a fresher I have not taken interview but rejected in the written test itself.
Please let me know whether this is a centralised Lateral Recruitment process followed in Infy.

(Had to work fucking hard in training ,n mangd decent 4.95/5).But they gave me support . Ultimate aim of mine is to get through gud MBA college .
My question is dat ,if I being in support has some negative impact in PI's or
being in a developer profile has positive impact . My next question is about certifications , if I get a Microsoft certification on SQl server or other techonoligies ,would it help me switch a company which has devlopment work
