first of all congrats for getting selected in infy as well as for decent score in snap

Instead of dropping the idea to join infy, I would suggest you to get your joining extended by few weeks ..... for this, mail at the id given in joining e-mail which you would have received ... quote some appropiate reason and request for extension in joining date ...

after attending gdpi process and snap final results .... you can join infy on the new date given to you by HR ( in case something wrong happens in gdpi ....though i wish nothing like this happens and you convert your calls)...

Instead of extending joining date is this possible that i join infy on 27thjan and after 3days take a leave for 3-4 days..bcs extending joining date ll extend my training period(m in my final year and ll ve 2 take my xams in may..extending joining date will affect this i guess)

Don't Worry.. i'm sure you'll get into it.
They kept their promise even during recession time.
Infosys is one of the most respected companies in the World.
Theres no chance that you'll not be called for training.
But beware, the training is where people get filtered out. Its lotz of hardwork + loads of fun.

No. There is very little scope of taking leave during training. I think they will allow leave for a day or two, but beyond that it becomes difficult.

Hello,

I have another query about internship in Infosys. There are rumours that Infy doesn't allow one to keep laptops, not even in one's room. Also that it is very strict in terms of attendance. Are these rumours true?

Also, I am expecting gd/pi calls from sibm-pune, tiss and xim-b et al. In that case will Infosys people allow me to attend the gd/pi sessions of these colleges as it would mean taking a leave of around 3-4 days for each gd/pi call that I get?

Kindly reply as soon as possible.


These are not rumours but it is the truth. Infy Mysore is in a STP so any hardware, software going in and out is regulated by STP. You can check further by contacting the HR or your Point of Contact in Infosys.

No, Infosys is not going to allow you leaves during training period. You can ask these questions to HR also.

My DOJ is up against in bout 3 months, on 29th March, 2010..

I would like to know all the formalities that I would have to fulfil before I land up at Mysore..

Also, is there a bond ? and I've been assigned for the post of Systems Engineer (Trainee) at Level 3.. So what is the job description of a Systems Engineer and what does Level 3 imply ???

i am at Infosys for past two years.. let me know if u have some issue.. you are give four leaves per quarter and u can use them...along with it there are declared holidays too.. it is an entire leave policy of 8 pages of pdf...so no minimum, but if u miss for few days u miss a module of training and that means u run out of schedule plan for planned training for u...umight have to be moved to next batch but that is entirely different call

Did they give you a joining date? generally the joining date is immediate after graduation if you're from Comp Sc. background. in case you are from any other stream, then the joining date will be delayed.

anyways, try to clear all your backlog ASAP. if you dont clear your backlogs, they might cancel your offer. you can ask for a later joining date, but that seldom works.

Hi Rahul,

Have your received your offer letter. If yes, then all the formalities that need to be fulfilled are listed in it. So, just have a look at it.

Don't worry about levels as of now. Recently there has been a re-org in Infosys and the roles have undergone the changes in name. System Engineer is the same as Software Engineer. Role of a Software Engineer is that of developer, ie, coding, unit testing, defect fixing, etc and may vary depending on the project requirements.

there is no standard rule for this. infy would not like it if you have to take a supplementary and hence require your joining dates to be extended. as i mentioned, if they do not get you on campus on the date they mentioned they will not take you in. the rest is a case on case issue. you might have to get to the HR with your concern and see if they are able to provide a solution to it.
